Los Banos West / I-5 KOA , Santa Nella, California

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

This is a fine park for overnight stays or longer if you have activities in the area. Staff at check in was helpful & friendly. Sites are dirt & gravel & it looks like some were muddy from the recent rains. Sites have gravel or grass for a yard and small trees. The park is not too far off a 4-lane highway but seemed pretty quiet. Our site was behind the office building so that may have blocked some noise. Behind the office is a very large covered patio with tables & chairs & a huge bbq grill. The pool area looked very nice & well taken care of. There are many long term residents but most of the rigs were in good shape. There is a grassy dog park. We camped at Los Banos West / I-5 KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Bodega Bay RV Park, Bodega Bay, California

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

Originally this campground was not on our itinerary. We had only planned to stay one night and although the website said a minimum of 3 nights was required, when we called, they were able to accommodate us. The owners are friendly and very helpful. Because of the awful weather, they said we could check in as soon as we got here. We ended up staying 6 nights. The campground is very clean & well cared for; the laundry room spotless. The sites are gravel (mostly level) with a little grass at each end and a picnic table. Sites are wide and are divided by a small fence which does not give any privacy but adds to the ambiance. There are two dog parks one each for small & large dogs. There is trail access to a State Park. We camped at Bodega Bay RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Olema Campground, Olema, California

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

I am torn about how to rate this park. It is in a beautiful wooded setting and the sites are nicely spaced. However, we were not told when we made our reservation that with the winter rains parts of the campground flood. Although our site was high enough to remain out of the water we became concerned that with the rains we might have a difficult time getting out. Heavy rains were expected for 5 days. We had reserved our site for 3 nights but decided to only stay 2. I went to tell the office we were leaving and that I understood there was no refund. They were nice enough to refund our 1 night anyway! If there is not a chance of continuous rain, I would highly recommend this campground. Most of the sites are water and electric only (30 amp) but for long stays they do have a truck to take your waste water (for $15). All sites are back-in but situated so that was easy. Our site was so long we could probably have fit another RV in it. There is a laundry & propane available. We camped at Olema Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Moss Landing KOA Express, Moss Landing, California

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $67.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small RV park with all back-in sites. The one loop road is paved and sites are concrete pads with a little grass. The staff is very helpful in getting people backed in. Once we disconnected, parking at our site was tight but sites are of a number of different lengths. The park is off Rt 1 but one side is on Moss Landing Rd which can get quite noisy. Easy walking distance to the beach & three restaurants. There are different rates for weekends/holidays. Dog friendly. We camped at Moss Landing KOA Express in a Fifth Wheel.

Morro Dunes RV Park, Morro Bay, California

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

This is our third Xmas at this park and we really enjoy it. Office staff is friendly & helpful. Grounds are well taken care of. The roads through the campground are paved but the sites are not. They are fine gravel and dirt and can get pretty muddy when it rains. Be prepared with outdoor mats or RV rug. Pull through sites are a little narrow but are divided by a low fence for some privacy. Some of the back-ins are wide enough for the RV and a vehicle parked next to it. The park is fenced for security but during the day has easy access to the beach. The beach is right across the little street that runs by the park. The beach and campground are dog friendly. There is a dog park in the campground. Several laundry sites in the campground are well maintained but machines are old. Reservations are recommended & you can make them a year ahead of time (the 1st of the month you want to stay). We camped at Morro Dunes RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Adelanto RV Park , Adelanto, California

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

No frills RV park with many extended stay residents. Sites are gravel & level. Some have concrete patios. The person at check-in was very nice & helpful. The campground is well off the highway so quiet at night. The best part was a large, well-lit grass area where we could walk our dog. It was even equipped with potty bags & trash can. Yes, we would stay here again if traveling through this area. We camped at Adelanto RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tucson / Lazydays KOA, Tucson, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

This is a large RV park with many options for the type of site. We like the deluxe sites with patio, grass, & tree. There are shrubs on either side & in the back of the patio which gives some privacy. Sites are roomy with plenty of space for slide-outs. There is extra parking at the site for your tow vehicle or toad. Staff is friendly and helpful & they pick up your garbage. It is very dog friendly. There is some noise from a nearby train & the airport but it was not disturbing. The access roads in the park are wide enough for two vehicles so very easy to maneuver. There is a BBQ restaurant in the park that will deliver to your site. We camped at Tucson / Lazydays KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Flagstaff KOA, Flagstaff, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed a couple of times at this campground and always enjoy it. OK, so the sites aren't very wide and they're not level (although within acceptable limits). But it is a really pleasant atmosphere in the woods, mostly evergreens. There is a walking trail & dog parks. There is definitely a 'summer camp' vibe. Our 5th wheel is 31 feet and I don't envy anyone getting in here with a big rig. As opposed to some reviews, our site was exactly what we reserved and we had no problems getting situated. Because of the layout and narrow roads, it would be helpful if they guided you to your site. We were in the upper back part of the campground and there was hardly any traffic noise. We camped at Flagstaff KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated), Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

If you want hook-ups this is a great place to stay. We were in the full hook-up section (not the classic, which did not look very appealing). Sites are pretty level. They are all pull-thrus and angled so that you are not looking into your neighbor's RV. Sites are long enough that the picnic table is well separated from the sewer. The campground is dark. Only lights are at the restrooms. There are lots of trees and grassy places around the campground although most of the sites are asphalt/gravel. Staff at check-in was friendly and helpful. There is a shuttle stop at the entrance if you don't want to drive. Your sewer hose can only be hooked up when you actually need to dump because the ravens poke holes in them if left unattended. Both 30 & 50 amp available. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Fifth Wheel.

The "General Store" nearby (in the park) has a good selection of food with produce, meat, and dairy. One section of the store has clothes and camping items. Gas/diesel is available right outside the park and is pretty pricey.

Kingman KOA, Kingman, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice KOA, well off the highway so very quiet. The young man who guided us to our site asked if he could help us set up. Service is definitely a priority here. Sites are divided by oleander bushes which gives you a little privacy & separation from your neighbor's hook-ups. We got propane while we were here and just had to take the empty tank to the propane fill. They not only returned our full tank but put it back in our RV for us. The entire campground (not just the sites) is a sand/gravel mix which was fine in dry weather. The campground consists of permanent sites as well as short term/overnight sites. Everything was well taken care of. We camped at Kingman KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Fort Amargosa RV Park, Amargosa Valley, Nevada

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

When I phoned I was told no reservations were accepted. When we pulled in, there was no one in the office (an old motorhome). But someone who is a long term resident told us to pick any spot and the owner would find us. The campground was mostly empty. All spaces were full hook-ups with 30/50 amps. We chose a spot toward the back, off the highway. This campground is a good spot for the night. Easy in and out. Level sites. If we were traveling through this area again, we would stay here. We camped at Fort Amargosa RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

There is a restaurant and gas station on the same side of the highway as the RV park and another restaurant and gas station across the road. We had difficulty paying with either of our credit cards at the Chevron (as did another customer) so probably would go to the other station next time.

Mono Vista RV Park, Lee Vining, California

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Very pleasant campground with a variety of options for sites. Nicely landscaped with many trees and grass. Our site was a pull-thru with no problem for our slide-outs. The driveway of the site ends on a large grassy area which you can use to unhitch but not to park on. So depending on how you situate your RV, unhitching could be mandatory. This applies to the whole row we were in. We had no problem in pulling our RV all the way forward to the grass & then parking behind. But sites are close together so that our picnic table was close to our neighbor's hook-ups. Our site also had an electrical transformer box that hummed constantly although it was much quieter at night. The owners are quite insistent about dogs using the pet walk which has some grass & then a nice trail out into the sagebrush. Although close to the highway, the campground is pretty quiet. We camped at Mono Vista RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Reno KOA at Boomtown, Verdi, Nevada

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

A pretty basic KOA Journey. Our site was at the very end of the row & billed as a "deluxe" site. There was a patio & grill but it was behind our RV with the hook-ups, not out our front door. Site space is narrow but parking is next to the site so it gives a little more room. There is a courtesy van that takes you to a casino so that seems to be a prime reason to stay here. Next time we would look for another place that was more reasonable. We camped at Reno KOA at Boomtown in a Fifth Wheel.

Manzanita Lake (NPS Campground), Lassen Volcanic National Park, California

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

When we reserved our site we entered the size of our RV and selected from the sites provided. We chose a pull-through arc shaped site & found that because of the shape and the trees we could not get into it from the proper direction off the one-way road. Had to make a quick trip the wrong way round to pull in. Even that was tight because of the trees and shape of the arc. But it had the advantage of putting our door on the picnic table side rather than the road. There is water in the campground, a dump station, and showers in season. The campground is in the forest and quite lovely and quiet. We camped at Manzanita Lake (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Holiday RV Park, Phoenix, Oregon

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

We had a long pull-through site that was asphalt. Some grass but also a lot of dirt that got muddy. There was plenty of room for slide-outs but sites were close enough that our picnic table was close to our neighbor's hook-ups. Very clean laundry facilities. The machines were older but in good working order. There was even an iron & ironing board. Many people here appear to be long term residents but most RVs were well taken care of. The person who checked us in was friendly & helpful. This RV park is very close to the interstate but was surprisingly quiet. Trees & a large building & shopping center help block any traffic noise. We camped at Holiday RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
