Cartersville / Cassville-White KOA, Cartersville, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This is considered a KOA Journey and seems to be a very popular overnight location. When we arrived, the office was closed and staff did not return until 3:30 (they were at a meeting off site). However, the staff left information packets for those who had reservations. There appears to be long term campers in the rear section of the campground and the front section was devoted to overnight campers. Site was not level front to back but not drastically so. The utilities were located at the rear of the site and worked as they should including a cable TV hook up. Verizon cell service was good and we did not use the campground provided WiFi that is free for 2 days. Trash is picked up at the sites every morning by 10:00 am and there is a dumpster available. It appeared RVs were escorted to their site when the staff was there. Nice looking pool. The bathhouse in the office area was shut down because of a water line break but that did not affect the water to the campsites and repairs were under way. All in all it was a good place to stop for the night and we would return if in the area. We camped at Cartersville / Cassville-White KOA in a Truck Camper.

Cecil Bay RV Park, Cecil, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Easy on/off I-75 so there is some road noise which did not bother us but might bother others. Site was long enough for our RV and tow vehicle to stay connected and fairly level. Utilities were placed conveniently and Verizon service was good. Did not use the campground provided WiFi or the restrooms. Laundry room is unusual in that one pays the fee-$1.00 each for wash and dry-in the office and then uses the machines (not coin operated). The pool has been abandoned. There appear to be long term campers but the equipment and sites were kept up. This campground needs some TLC but is fine for an overnight stop. There is a For Sale sign at the entrance to the campground. Office staff was helpful and friendly and escorted us to our site. We would stop here again if traveling through the area. We camped at Cecil Bay RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Moss Park, Orlando, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

This is a rustic campground with dirt/sand roads and lots of trees and I can see the appeal of a place like this in such a busy urban area. The sites were a decent size and the water/electric were positioned well. Our big complaint was that the trees were in need of trimming. Even our truck camper had branches hitting our roof driving through the campground. We saw some big RVs come in to camp and there is no way they avoided all the low hanging branches. This campground does not allow pets at all anywhere in the park and campground. No way to get satellite because of all the trees but over the air was good. Our Verizon cell service/hot spot worked well. Staff was friendly. Gate is closed at 8:00 pm every night and campers are given an access code. Reservations can now be made on line at the campground's website and we did receive a senior discount. This campground would be a 9.5-10 for us if the trees were trimmed. We would stay here again. We camped at Moss Park in a Truck Camper.

Lake Livingston / Onalaska KOA, Onalaska, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

We spent 3 months during the winter at this campground paying a monthly rate plus electricity. The rate reflects the daily average cost with our electricity costs included and is much higher when the weather warms up. This campground is located on Lake Livingston and has wonderful views. There are long term/seasonal campers with well kept sites but there are plenty of travelers and weekend campers visiting too. There is a combination of back in and pull through sites. Campground staff was very pleasant and hardworking and the condition of the campground reflects all their effort. Restauarant on site with ok food and great pie and it is popular with the local community. Bathhouses are older but clean-did not use the laundry facilities. WiFi did not seem to work well but Verizon service was good. We will return to this campground. We camped at Lake Livingston / Onalaska KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Huntsville is about 30 miles away and provides some shopping and dining opportunities. Livingston is about 15 miles away with a very crowded Walmart. Try McKenzie's in Huntsville for great BBQ and Florida's Kitchen in Livingston.

Hinton RV Park, Sikeston, Missouri

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Easy on/off the interstate with minimal road noise. Sites were gravel and utilities were adequate and placed for convenience. No trees in our section but we prefer that. Office staff was friendly and escorted us to our site. Did not use the bathhouse, laundry, or their free WiFi. Verizon cell service worked great. Take a left out of the campground and Lambert's, home of the throwed roll, is located about a mile on the left. This campground is great for an overnight stop. We will stop here again if in the area. We camped at Hinton RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

I-30 Travel Park, Benton, Arkansas

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a campground filled with long term RVs with a few pull through sites located in the back for overnight travelers. It had been raining quite a bit and the sites were a muddy mess because most of the gravel was gone. Several sites had deep ruts caused by RVs parking on the very muddy sites. Our site was level-we disconnected to fuel our truck and reconnected once back in the campground. The utilities were placed properly and worked fine. The office staff was friendly. We did not check out anything else in the campground. There are plenty of nearby amenities like restaurants and fuel stations. This was ok for an overnight stop but would not want to spend any more time there. We camped at I-30 Travel Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Poverty Point Reservoir State Park, Delhi, Louisiana

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice Louisiana State Park but has a few issues. The full hook up sites are back ins but the road is not wide enough to back in without driving on the grass. Sites are paved but narrow and our site had standing water after it rained. 50 amp was available and we had no issue with utility location. We were parked right next to a WiFi antenna but it did not work well. Our Verizon hotspot had a good signal. This campground is well cared for and very neat and clean. Campground personnel were friendly and welcoming. We wiill return to this campground in the future. We camped at Poverty Point Reservoir State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Burns Run East COE, Cartwright, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small, lovely COE campground right on Lake Texoma. Site was a back in and concrete with a covered picnic table and a fire ring that had not been cleaned out and had trash from a previous camper. Plenty of room to park tow vehicle on site. Most of the sites have some view of the lake. Bathhouse was clean though not air conditioned. Not many trees which is fine with us as we do not like trees hanging over our RV. Looks like some of the campers had been there longer than the normal 14 day stay limit. We used our Senior Interagency Pass for 50% off the normal camping fee. No problems using our portable satellite dish. No WiFi available. We would return to this campground. We camped at Burns Run East COE in a Truck Camper.

Happy Trails RV Park, Lebanon, Missouri

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This was an overnight stop for us. We asked for a water/electric site and only connected to the 30 amp electric. We were provided with a code for their free WiFi but did not use it. Campground has many trees, some of which might require trimming but our site was fine. Nearby trees were close enough that we did not use our awning. We were able to use our portable satellite antenna. This campground is right off the interstate so there is some road noise if one is sensitive about that. There is also a nearby rooster that is vocal pretty early in the morning. The noise was not bothersome to us at all. Office was locked up when we arrived but the manager arrived immediately to register and escort us to our site. Manager/staff is very friendly and mentioned we could call for a golf cart ride to the nearby brewery/restaurant (it is within walking distance). Did not use any of the facilities during our stay. There is a lovely small lake with a walking path and benches for patron to use. There is a RV dealer/repair facility adjacent to the campground. This was a great place for an overnight stop. We will return. We camped at Happy Trails RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Durant / Choctaw Casino KOA, Durant, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Price reflects weekend price. Weekday price is $45.00. Campground has adequate check in parking and nice wide paved roads. Sites are concrete with a permanently mounted picnic table; some sites have a big plastic umbrella for the picnic table. There are hedges between the sites which gives a tiny feeling of privacy but sites are close together. Sites are long but narrow, so be careful how you position your rig so the picnic table/umbrella does not interfere with slides or door. The grass was beautiful, but there are no trees, which was fine for us. They have a heated pool, but it was too cold to use. We did not check out any other amenities. The campground offers a shuttle to the casino and it runs frequently. The casino is a smoking facility so we did not visit the casino because of this. We were using the campground as a staging area for a repair we were having done in nearby Denton, TX and this campground was accommodating as we pulled out and back in after our repairs. There is shopping and restaurants available in Durant. We normally do not stay at KOAs, and even though this one is pricey for what is provided, it was satisfactory for our needs and we would probably return if we were in the area again. We camped at Durant / Choctaw Casino KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

New Adventure RV Park & Horse Hotel, Coldspring, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This is great campground to stay at while in the area of Livingston, TX, home of Escapees organization. The owners are just the nicest people and make one feel so welcome. The bathhouse/laundry are located in a small building and the cleanliness was outstanding. Recycling is available and they have outside games available for patrons to use. They have two fenced in dog parks and even have horse corrals available for those who travel with horses (and yes someone stopped for several days with their horses). The WiFi is outstanding and there are 4-5 repeaters in the small camping area. The camp office has a small amount of groceries, mostly sodas and candy. The sites are close together and not level. We have auto levelers and did not have any trouble leveling though our front end of our 5th wheel was very close to the ground. The sites are gravel/dirt and when it rained, it was really messy and difficult not to carry stuff inside the RV and this was Really our only complaint of this campground. It was not as much of a problem when it was dry. We paid the monthly rate with a military discount and paid separately for electricity. When we add electric to our site cost, it averaged $15 per night. This is a relatively new campground and they are still making additions to make the stay better. We loved this place and would return. We camped at New Adventure RV Park & Horse Hotel in a Fifth Wheel.

Long Branch State Park, Macon, Missouri

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

This is a lovely Missouri state park. The only reason it is not getting a better rating is because of the low hanging trees that need to be taken care of. It appears that we were in an updated section of the campground with a concrete pad that was narrow and concrete patio. Most of the sites were much smaller, unlevel, and black topped. This campground has only electric with some sites having 50 amp power available. There is a double sided dump station available for use but we did not use it. We also did not use the bath house but did look inside and it was clean and adequate. There are small comfort stations located throughout the campground. Free unsecured WiFi is available but again we did not use it. The campground was mowed and the overall appearance was one of neatness. There are some sites with a lake view and the lake was beautiful. There is a swimming beach and a marina located in the state park. Only some sites are reservable. We would stay here again as long as we could get one of the limited sites for our big rig. We camped at Long Branch State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Rocky's Convenience Store & Campground, Perry, Florida

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We obviously did not like this campground as much as previous reviewers. Check in is at the convenience store and there is plenty of room to park while checking in. Campground is grass and sand. We were assigned the middle section which are back to back sites. Your RV door will be facing your neighbor's door. We were the only overnighters there. The rest of the campground was occupied by permanent campers who kept their sites up pretty well. One lane road circles the campground that is rutted. We did not use the facilities though the building did look ok. Wifi is password protected but again, we used our own (Verizon). Feral cats on the property. We opened the door twice to find a cat sitting on the top step of our RV. All in all, it was an ok overnight and we would consider stopping in the future. We camped at Rocky's Convenience Store & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Kiki RV Park, Kingsland, Georgia

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small campground attached to the nearby Econo Lodge. Check in is at the motel office. Advertised as a Passport America park, the PPA basic rate is $30 plus $5 for a pull thru. I cannot imagine anyone wanting to pay full price. There are 4 pull thrus available for travelers. The rest of the campground is full of long term campers so not back ins are available at the lower price. Campground is easy on/off the interstate and there is some noise associated with a nearby truck stop and busy road. Bathrooms and laundry are available in the motel but no additional bathhouse is available. Parking pads were concrete and very narrow and close to neighboring site. Utilities were adequate with good Verizon cell and hotspot. No issues getting our roof top satellite locked in. We normally would stay at a nearby military campground but since it was full, we opted for this campground for the full hook ups. We would stay here in the future if needed. We camped at Kiki RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Dover AFB FamCamp, Dover, Delaware

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small military campground located on Dover AFB. There ar 10 back in sites, 3 with 30 amp and 7 with 50 amp electric. At least half of the sites were filled with long term campers (homesteaders). One cannot make a reservation and we were lucky to get the last site available. One can self pay or go to the Outdoor Recreation and pay (we went to Outdoor Recreation) which is easy to find on base. A long term camper had recently departed our site and our water/power pedestal was completely covered in weeds. the mowing crew came by the next day and trimmed it all away taking care not to blow anything on our equipment. The bathhouse is new and there is no signage on either bathroom as to women or men's. Fortunately, the main door for each bathroom locked so when using the facilities, we just locked the door. Looks like the bathhouse has not even been added to the cleaning contract and though not filthy, the toilets needed a good scrubbing. There was no soap, toilet paper, or paper towel available in the bathhouse so we purchased some to use during our 3 night stay. No trash can either. The campground is located at the end of the runway but aircraft noise was not an issue for us. We were camping with a motorcycle and a motorcycle pop up tent trailer so the bathhouse and picnic table were important to us. Not sure where the dry camping is located as nothing is marked for those sites. A dump station is available and a $3 fee if not camping. We would stop here again. We camped at Dover AFB FamCamp in a Tent Trailer.

Nice Exchange and Commisarry are available. First big Exchange we have seen without a food court. Burger King located across from the Exchange but some sort of long term construction is ongoing and only drive thru was available. A great little place-Charlie's-is located between the Commissary and the Exchange with really good food and nice manager.
