Hard Labor Creek State Park, Rutledge, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This state park has made great improvements since our visits in the 70's, it has great facilities and the pads are tops, but it is not very large motor home friendly, the section we were in we had to pullout of our site then back out to turnaround. The loop on the end of the drive is not large enough for large motor homes but may be suitable for fifth-wheel units and travel trailers. Other than that we enjoyed our mid week visit, nice & quiet, nature at it's best. Nice & friendly staff. We camped at Hard Labor Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

St. Ignace / Mackinac Island KOA, St Ignace, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This facility is in need of a serious makeover, ruts in the driveways on parking pads, tree limbs to low and the facility was in a very poor state of repair. Better suited to be a pasture field for dairy goats. Keep driving. We camped at St. Ignace / Mackinac Island KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Small town and easy access to Mexico if that is your interest, we did some off-roading in our Jeep. Meteor and volcanic crater sites in the area, mostly on private land, but landowners do give permission if asked. If you don't ask you are trespassing and subject to legal actions. Small museum in town, good restaurants., but not fine dining.

Kartchner Caverns State Park, Benson, Arizona

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park but limited space in the winter due to snowbirds, but we stayed one night in the overflow parking area. For $16 we used their water fill station and dump facilities. It is a beautiful park well worth the visit, even if we did have to stay in the overflow parking area. We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit the cave & historic display, watched Javalina from our coach window. Beautiful sunrise view, only a couple hours drive to Bigsbee AZ. Very nice park but limited space in the winter due to snowbirds, but we stayed one night in the overflow parking area. Paid $16 but we used their water fill station and dump facilities the next morning. It is a beautiful park well worth the visit, even if we did have to stay in the overflow parking area.

Bill Monroe Memorial Music Park & Campground, Bean Blossom, Indiana

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

If it weren't for their music festivals I don't know how this place stays in business. Wind blowing trash around & trash in the burn pits, rude staff and the park in poor condition. No shut offs or breakers on the power pedestals, potential electrical hazard. For what is offered the 33.17 is excessive. Typical commercial campground sights too close and most likely would not pass state fire marshal code. We stayed here in an RV and won't be back. We camped at Bill Monroe Memorial Music Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Chewacla State Park, Auburn, Alabama

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for the sole purpose of attending an event at Auburn University, as such I doubt if we'll ever return. RV section of the park appeared to be nothing but work campers. Tents, tarps and utility trailers were on just about every occupied site. Beer cans & bottle tops strown throughout the grounds. Sites are gravel, most are unlevel and our site looks as someone dumped their tanks on the ground, toilet tissue everywhere. Although it is a locked, gated park after hours at no time did we see a ranger on patrol. We camped at Chewacla State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

This is most likely the worst state park I have ever visited for the purpose of an overnight stay. It may have plenty to offer in other worthwhile activities. But this campground is not one that I could recommend as a destination campground.

Sault Ste. Marie KOA, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

I'm submitting a review even before I leave, this place is clean, well run and well maintained. The staff are knowledgeable and eager to help, this must be the reason why this place won park of the year for 2015. I would recommend this place to anyone they can accommodate larger rigs, they took us in on a very short notice. They will escort you to your site and asked if they could help us in any way. We camped at Sault Ste. Marie KOA in a Motorhome.

Batman's Cottages and Campground, Sheguiandah, Ontario

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This park caters more to full timers or seasonal campers. Not worth the trip if you are a larger RV or motor home.

Next time we'll keep driving, if this is the best the island has to offer we'll stay elsewhere.

30amp power. Sewer available, some sites it must flow uphill. We camped at Batman's Cottages and Campground in a Motorhome.

Ouray RV Park & Cabins, Ouray, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

This park is under new ownership and they have increased the rates for the park. Not worth the value of the increase for what you get a gravel field with pedestals on the main highway. The laundry has old machines sitting around and not operational. We camped at Ouray RV Park & Cabins in a Motorhome.

Graham Cave State Park, Montgomery City, Missouri

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Nice but a tight place to get into if you are in a large motorhome unit greater than 35'. No drive through sites available. We stayed one night passing through, the 30 amp service was adequate but it tripped often due to a weak breaker in the box. We reported the problem to the maintenance staff and they were on it right away. We will stay again if in the area. We camped at Graham Cave State Park in a Motorhome.

Cedar Bluff State Park - Bluffton Area, Ellis, Kansas

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Of all the state parks we have ever stayed in not including Custer State Park in SD, this has to be the best based on campground layout alone. The drive through sites were large enough for 2 rigs, we stayed in our 35' motorhome with our jeep tow and had room for another unit. The park was clean, well maintained. The only downfall is the $5 per motor vehicle surcharge so we only paid for the motorhome and not the jeep. Would visit again if in the area. We camped at Cedar Bluff State Park - Bluffton Area in a Motorhome.

Leadville RV Corral, Leadville, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed 4 nights to Jeep and day trips in the area. Very central location with lots of outdoor activities available. The campground is located at the edge of town and you can walk into town easily from campground. Initial impression when you drive up may not be good but the gravel sites were level and water, electric, sewer all worked well. Very good cable TV channel selection. Did not use their Wi-Fi. Rudy the owner was eager to help. Overall, this was a good, quiet place for us to stay. If you're expecting a plush campground with lots of activities, this is not it. This is our second visit and would use it again. We camped at Leadville RV Corral in a Motorhome.
