Tompkins Bend COE, Mount Ida, Arkansas
Date of Stay:
March, 2006 -
$15.00
Overall Rating:
COE park. Most sites not quite level. Sides observed were paved. Fire rings and cement tables at each site. Electric at all RV sites. Water at some. Dump Station with water. Water available at bathhouses. Clean. Zero services. Boaters can pull boats to within 30 to 50ft of sites in outside ring. Dry county. 14 day max. Fishing is the premier activity. Water is low due to preventitive draining for possible Katrina torrents that didn't arrive. Bring firewood. In the off season, find a spot. Uniformed ranger will pick up fees. Cash or check ONLY in off season. We camped at Tompkins Bend COE in a Motorhome.

Topeka / Capital City KOA, Topeka, Kansas
Date of Stay:
March, 2006 -
$20.00
Overall Rating:
Most sites need some leveling. 1-6 is best for big rigs. You will have to unhook toads in them. Gravel sites with full hookups. WiFi is pay from a third party. Friendliest hosts yet. This is an excellent spot for overnight at a reasonable price. Price is with GS discount. We camped at Topeka / Capital City KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:
The chimeneas are a nice touch. Level sites. Long enough not to have to unhook. Well organized. Spent two nights. Good laundry facilities. Excellent store...a bit of everything. A couple of miles north of I-70 on 4 lane freeway to exit. Lots of add on pricing. Get just what you need. Wi-Fi works well. We camped at Cottonwoods RV Park in a Motorhome.

In town site. Nice neighborhood. Many seasonals. Site a bit narrow and short. Pull throughs in season are quite short. Pull around requires exiting and re-entering from public road. Be prepared. We camped at Beacon RV Park in a Motorhome.

Magnolia RV Park Resort, Vicksburg, Mississippi
Date of Stay:
January, 2006 -
$19.00
Overall Rating:
VERY narrow site. Woodalls calls for 50ft. More like 15. You cannot have adjoinging sites with slideouts and/or awnings. Older park , the sites are just 40 ish ft each. Most had toads unhooked to fit in site. Level gravel sites. We were awakened at 4 am by a constantly barking dog...this didn't end. We left at 7 am. We camped at Magnolia RV Park Resort in a Motorhome.

Calhoun County Fairgrounds, Marshall, Michigan
Date of Stay:
March, 2005 -
$10.00
Overall Rating:
This is an excellent example of a County/City park. There is a wide variety of sites from big spacious to small very shaded. This is a fairgrounds that has paved roads. There is little to do unless there is an event going on. We use this park for single overnights or event. A much more pleasant alternative to other parks in the area. Call ahead if you are coming in after hours. We camped at Calhoun County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.
