Nauvoo RV Campground, Nauvoo, Illinois

Date of Stay: June, 2010 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here three nights. This campground is owned by the Community of Christ (formerly known as the Reorganized LDS Church). Do NOT follow your GPS to get here. Get directions from the manager of the park. It was a nice and quiet place and if you walk down past the large campground hall there is a beautiful view of the river. Stupendous thunderstorm while we were there. The spaces are sufficient. No Wi-Fi or cable TV. We enjoyed exploring the area. We would return. We camped at Nauvoo RV Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Walnut Ridge RV Park, New Castle, Indiana

Date of Stay: June, 2010 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This park is primarily a seasonal park with a dozen or so sites for over nighters. It is clean and well cared for. There were both pull thru and back in overnight sites. The sites were nice sized and easy to get into and out of. They were most gracious to us when we were there. We had a broken spring that we had to replace and they allowed us to repair our rig at our site, even letting us utilize their park shop. They put us in contact with a wonderful mobile RV repairman who assisted us. We would return there if in the area again. The park is outside of a nice little town with all the necessary amenities. Aside from the problem with the RV it was a very pleasant place to visit. We camped at Walnut Ridge RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Amana Colonies RV Park, Amana, Iowa

Date of Stay: May, 2010 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We spent four nights here because we were visiting friends in Iowa City. It was a nice park although there were no trees to speak of. The sites are good size but it was kind of like a big parking lot for RV's. The sites and the roadways are gravel with grass in between. We did laundry here and the facilities were clean. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the Amana colonies and appreciated the fact that there was an RV park in the area. We would go back there again if the opportunity arose. We camped at Amana Colonies RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Whispering Oaks Campground, Story City, Iowa

Date of Stay: May, 2010 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We were only here one night and stayed up by the office. Our site was a pull thru and was spacious compared to where we had been the night before. The internet/Wi-Fi was not available to us. It was a beautiful, park like setting but the mosquitoes were bad. Because we were just passing through the fact that we didn't have sewer hook ups was not an issue. We just dumped prior to leaving. We would stay here again. We camped at Whispering Oaks Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Holiday RV Park, North Platte, Nebraska

Overall Rating:

This was a lovely park, just off the freeway (but there was no substantial hwy noise noticeable). The sites are roomy and easy to negotiate. The physical setting was pleasant and the facilities were clean. The staff was friendly and we enjoyed our stay in this park. We camped at Holiday RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

West Omaha / NE Lincoln KOA, Gretna, Nebraska

Date of Stay: May, 2010 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This was the most 'crammed in' KOA we have stayed at. We paid for a 'premium' site and we still had people right on top of us. It was like a sardine tin! We would not return to this park due to the physical setting. The staff were friendly and the office seemed clean. The park itself was clean but our neighbors were basically right at our front doorstep. We camped at West Omaha / NE Lincoln KOA in a Motorhome.

Terry Bison Ranch Resort, Cheyenne, Wyoming

Date of Stay: May, 2010 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This was kind of a funky park, with a lot of attractions (train, restaurant) which were not open yet. It was gravel with a little grass. Large store on the property with rather interesting items for sale. It was just a rather odd place. Not sure we would return. We camped at Terry Bison Ranch Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Salt Lake City KOA, Salt Lake City, Utah

Date of Stay: May, 2010 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

This KOA is large and very centrally located to downtown SLC. They had a shuttle to Temple Square, which we appreciated. The spaces are close together but we were able to maneuver in and out without much difficulty. Everything is clean, but seems a little worn down. We would return again, since it is so close to the center of town. We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Very clean park in all respects. We have stayed here twice in the past five years and have not been disappointed. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Sites are easy to get in and out of. Close to the freeway, and a Wal-Mart as well. We camped at Mountain Home RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Rock Springs / Green River KOA, Rock Springs, Wyoming

Date of Stay: May, 2010 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

The only good thing we can say about this park is that it is located close to the Flaming Gorge area. The physical setting is depressing to say the least. The staff were friendly and the facilities were OK. The spaces were very tight and the view (of large oil storage tanks) was terrible. Just an all gravel parking lot. We camped at Rock Springs / Green River KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
