Branson Stagecoach Campground, Branson, Missouri

Date of Stay: April, 2012 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park which we would certainly return to. Two rows of level concrete pads and patios. Most of the rows that have gravel pads are occupied by permanents. Picnic tables included. Very nice laundry room. Staff very friendly and helpful. Close to nice state park, 10-15 minutes from nice grocery and the cheapest gas station in town. Very quiet park and the sites were not too close to each other. We enjoyed our six day stay. Rate reflects PA membership. We camped at Branson Stagecoach Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Southgate RV Park of Fayetteville, Fayetteville, Arkansas

Date of Stay: March, 2012 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a fairly bare bones park but it is quiet (in spite of being next door to a Tyson plant) and the owner is very nice. The Wi-Fi and our cell phones worked great. The laundry left a lot to be desired (we went into town) and the restrooms are pretty dilapidated. There is a nice grassy area for pets and areas adjacent to the park for walking our dog. We felt that the pull through sites were fine in size. We would return to this park. We camped at Southgate RV Park of Fayetteville in a Fifth Wheel.

Millwood Landing Golf & RV Resort, Ashdown, Arkansas

Date of Stay: March, 2012 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

Rate (actually free) reflects the fact that we came here on a sales offer. The park is a peaceful, quiet place with two ponds and a golf course. Did I mention peaceful? Sites are paved with a small patio attached along with a wooden picnic table. No cell phone reception here but our satellite worked fine for our tv and the wifi was good. No laundry facilities alto we were told they are building them now. The park restrooms were rather dilapidated as well. Also, the restaurant/bar is not open and appears to have been on the downhill slide for a long time. But the park is very peaceful and we would return, but we did not succumb to the sales pitch! We camped at Millwood Landing Golf & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Shreveport / Bossier City KOA, Shreveport, Louisiana

Date of Stay: March, 2012 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Lovely campground just outside of Shreveport. Sites were of a good size with nice patio area attached along with a nice table and chairs. Owners were very helpful and friendly. Goodly amount of 'permanents' but that did not detract from the nice setting. Lots of green grass and pines. Clean laundry facilities. Negatives included the nearby road noise and the street light shining into my bedroom window. We would definitely return to this park if in the area. We camped at Shreveport / Bossier City KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Frog City RV Park, Duson, Louisiana

Date of Stay: March, 2012 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Almost 'overly' friendly staff met us at the door. Sites are of a nice size for larger rigs. Each site has a picnic table and grass. Half of the park seems devoted to long term worker types but it is clean and well kept up, as is the rest of the park. Our only real complaint would be the highway noise (the park is very close to I-10) and the light from the truck stop that is part of the entire complex. It is also rather difficult to determine just exactly how the going rate is determined. We spoke with some overnights who were paying over $40, we were told our rate was discounted as we stayed two weeks but it appears others paid even less (see last review). All in all it was a good place, close to a lot of activities and we would probably return if in the area. We camped at Frog City RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Blazing Star RV Resort, San Antonio, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2012 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park. Only complaint would be the noise from the highway which is right next to the park. It was particularly noticeable at night. Other than that, the place was clean and well kept. The sites were large and easy to get into and out of. Staff was friendly. Close to shopping area. Easy to get into the city from the park (took about 15-20 minutes). Not many activities offered. Not a lot of places to walk the dog. Would return if in the area. We camped at Blazing Star RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Sandpiper RV Resort, Galveston, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2012 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This was an excellent, brand new park. Everything was neat and tidy. The staff was very anxious to please. The garbage issue mentioned previously has been remedied. The sites are large and easy to get in and out of. Lots of space to park the tow vehicle. Close to the beach and ideal for walking dogs. Quiet. Great views of the Gulf and the ship traffic. Nice laundry area, altho there are only two washing machines and two dryers. Suggested they add two more of each and they were open to that idea. Swimming pool is looking fine. We would most certainly return. We camped at Sandpiper RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Bay View RV Resort, Rockport, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2012 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Mediocre park, could be nice with with additional maintenance. Older park that has been allowed to deteriorate. Gravel roads (some used to be paved), upper area dominated by permanents, Some sites were large, mostly back in, some not well delineated. Sites varied greatly. Ours was level, grassy. Restrooms and laundry facilities very clean. Some park activities. Rate reflective of our Coast-to-Coast membership. About ten minutes from town. No cell phone or Wi-Fi reception for us (Sprint service) anywhere in park. We camped at Bay View RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Buckhorn Lake Resort, Kerrville, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2012 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Rate includes special Sweetheart dinner. Lovely park, paved roads and sites. Large grassy area for dog walking. Great gathering hall for events, which seem to be offered regularly. Large outdoor entertainment area with fire pit, large BBQ and bar area. Two laundries, two swimming pools. Extremely clean and well cared for. Close to I-10 so some freeway noise but nothing to complain about. About fifteen minutes from Kerrville proper. Sites are large with some grass and some paved area as well as some rocked sections. Pull throughs and back ins. Just a lovely park. We would most certainly return. We camped at Buckhorn Lake Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Mission Bell RV Resort (55+ park), Mission, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2012 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Daily rate is based on our monthly payment along with our electricity cost which is separate from the monthly rental cost. This is our first visit to "the valley" and Mission Bell proved to be a lovely place to begin our visit. Everything the previous reviewer set out is spot on. We enjoyed the activities, the friendly staff and residents and our stay was perfect. We chose a site on the back fence line. We were not bothered by any street noise. Our site was a bit tight by today's standard but the park is 27 years old. We did not feel 'squished' as we have in other parks. We are close to shopping areas which I felt was a perk compared to some other parks, which are a ways out. We just had a wonderful time and would certainly return if the opportunity arises. We camped at Mission Bell RV Resort (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Lakefront Lodge, Zapata, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2011 - $8.00
Overall Rating:

Price reflects monthly rate. Reception friendly but not too knowledgeable about the openings available when we arrived. We had called for reservations but they really don't take reservations. Sites are all dirt and not level. Park is full of various kinds of living quarters -old park models, old trailers, old single wides new rigs. Some lots are privately owned and many of those are a conglomeration of trailer, addition, covers, side buildings, etc., etc. It is very cobbled together. Maintenance is negligible. The laundry was clean but the building housing it is old and not well kept. There are some scheduled activities. The real activity here is fishing. The town of Zapata is a poor, dirt filled place. There is not much to do in the way of tourist activities. All in all, we would not return here for any reason. We camped at Lakefront Lodge in a Fifth Wheel.

Holiday Trav-L-Park, Del Rio, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2011 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflects PPA plus $3 for 50 amp. Very friendly staff. Older park with lots of permanents. Mostly fishermen I think. Sites are adequate. Trees at every site. Clean laundry facilities. Strong Wi-Fi. About ten miles out of Del Rio which has all the amenities. Friendly inhabitants. Very quiet. There are some activities scheduled but we were unable to participate. We spent four nights here and would return again. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Hilltop RV Park, Fort Stockton, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2011 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Very friendly and helpful staff. Park is basically a large graveled area. When it rains the gravel is of the sort that becomes a kind of mud that gets all over. It rained while we were there. We only spent one night and this would be a good one night stopover place. It is right off I-10 but was very quiet. Close to fuel and food. Wi-Fi was strong. Nice views over the Texas high plateau. Probably good sunsets and sunrises but it was all clouded over when we were there. We camped at Hilltop RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Sunny Acres RV Park (55+ park), Las Cruces, New Mexico

Date of Stay: December, 2011 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Very friendly staff. Park was older. Many permanents or winter folks. We were in the only pull through, which was of a good size. There was actually grass. Very quiet. Close to stores. Good Wi-Fi. The laundry facilities were clean and reasonable. We spent two nights here and would return. We camped at Sunny Acres RV Park (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Lordsburg KOA, Lordsburg, New Mexico

Date of Stay: December, 2011 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice KOA, suitable for overnight stays as you are passing thru on I-10. Pets required to be on a leash, except for the large German Shepherd and the yapping little ankle biter who belong to extended stay units. The sites are large, given this is a KOA. All gravel, all pull-through sites. Wi-Fi is strong. We are here one night only and it is perfect for us. We would use this park again as we are coming or going. Freeway is close, but there is no discernible noise. We camped at Lordsburg KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
