Devils Tower / Black Hills KOA, Devils Tower, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $64.00
Overall Rating:

When we booked this site, we asked for a view out the front view of our coach, of Devil's Tower. They gave that to us, but we did not like the site. It was a bit short and not quiet level. So, I asked for a longer pull-through and they were very accommodating in our request. We stayed five night and had no one on either side of us until the last day. Of course, this was September, after school had started, so every night, we got a new bunch of people coming in for one day/night only. WiFi was very good. Park was very quiet. They played "Close Encounters" movie every night at 7pm. This was very cool because, as we watched the large screen movie, right behind it, in the distance, was Devil's Tower itself! Lots of room to walk the dog. We did not use the dog park but noticed quite a few people did. The park is right at the entrance to the Tower so no drive to enter. We camped at Devils Tower / Black Hills KOA in a Motorhome.

Ellsworth AFB FamCamp (Military FamCamp), Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We've stayed here before and, even though it's not a typical RV park, it's a very nice place to stay. Quiet (except for the 7am revile and bomber jets taking off at 8am), spacious, secure and safe. We had an end spot which made for even more room. Office staff was extremely helpful in pointing out the directions around the base, rules and regs and how to get to and from Mt. Rushmore. We even had a "herd" of 11 deer come through the park one night. Wifi worked great...strong and fast. Lots of room to walk the dog around the park. Easy in and out. We camped at Ellsworth AFB FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Absaroka Bay RV Park, Cody, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Nice owner, close to grocery and easy access in and out. Water was fine. WiFi was terrific. Quiet at night. Bathrooms were clean. Sprinklers come on nightly. Most reviews said the sites were tight to get in and out. We had the site right next to the bathrooms, so we had no problem getting in. Everyone in front of us left before us so getting out was easy. We'd stay here again. We camped at Absaroka Bay RV Park in a Motorhome.

Deer Park Campground, Buffalo, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We liked this place. On the far east side of the town. Long pull-throughs. Very quiet. Water was fine. WiFi worked great. This was off-season so the place was only partially full. Easy to find. We got escorted to our site, which is a nice feature...takes all the guess work out of trying to read the park map. Spacious between sites. Nice trail to walk around the area. We camped at Deer Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Sunrise Campground, Bozeman, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

When reviewing, sometimes it's easier to do a Good and Not So Good list so.... GOOD: wonderful, hospitable owners with an escort to our site. WiFi was reliable and strong. Easy access to town and shopping. Quiet at night. Good distance between coaches. NOT SO GOOD: not much in the way of grass at our site. Some had more. No dog park, but there's plenty of outside grass to take them. Trains run at all times and they blow their horn right near the park....LOUD. Highway noise is constant during the day but at night it really dies out. So, you're right between the highway on one side and the train on the other. In conclusion, we'd stay here again. It was a nice place...friendly and inviting. We camped at Sunrise Campground in a Motorhome.

Old West RV Park, Reed Point, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

There are a few things that make us like a particular RV park: A welcoming person, good Wi-Fi, space between coaches, easy hookups, easy in and out and, if it's possible, a good view out the front window. This RV park has it all, especially the manager/owner. Talk about feeling welcome! She's great! The WiFi was terrific, lawn was plush with next door neighbors a good distance away. Water pressure was fine. This is a great place for either an overnight or multi-night stay. This is our third time here and we're scheduled to come back in September. Easy off and on the highway, only 2-3 blocks from the exit. You can hear the trains blowing their horn at all hours and the highway noise settles down at night. We camped at Old West RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Waterhole Saloon has great burgers! Go through the town, across the bridge and go down left to the Yellowstone River. Go across the bridge and drive out on the dirt road straight for a few miles to get some wonderful vistas.

Perrys RV Park and Tent Campground, Red Lodge, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice place, right at the entrance to the Beartooth Highway. It has an upper and lower section. The lower section is near the river and shadier and campground-like. Cozy. The upper section (where we stayed) is sunny, open with great surrounding views as well as easier to navigate in and out. The highway is right next to us but quiet. WiFi was hit and miss as far as strength. Oh, no sewer and it's cash or check only. Good to know before planning. Owners were very helpful and accommodating (we told them one site, then another, then finally another before we decided). The spaces on the upper level are very close to each other. Our picnic table would've been right next to the person next to us. But, no one was put there during our stay. Deer come through the park, which is nice but, bears too....so we were told. Never saw any. Phew. If the park is full in the lower section, it would be difficult to get to the river as all the spots block any path. Fortunately, it was only half full so we could get down. Clean bathrooms for showering. A nice park, we'd stay here again. We camped at Perrys RV Park and Tent Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Drive the Beartooth Highway, then come back the same way. Doing the loop through Chief Joseph highway makes for a VERY long day. Take some seeds with you to feed the chipmunks at the overlook stop. The local grocery store is nice. Las Palmitas has FABULOUS mexican food...authentic.

Rocky Mountain Hi RV Park & Campground, Kalispell, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Pull through was plenty long for our 40' and toad. WiFi was iffy. Did not use the bathrooms as we're self-contained. Lots of space between rigs. I would've liked a back-in because the view behind looking at the mountains was lovely, but they were all taken. The RV park is about 5 miles from all the main shopping, so it was nice and quiet out in the country. Easy in and out. Nice, nice managers. Helpful with all the local sights and shopping. Fire pits were available if you wanted one at your site. We'd recommend this place. We camped at Rocky Mountain Hi RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Helena North KOA (formerly Lincoln Road RV Park), Helena, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $57.00
Overall Rating:

Finally, an RV park with good WiFi! Their internet is top notch...no fee and no password. Easy-peasy. The place is really looking good with constant upkeep and changes and fine tuning going on. The dog park is huge! Two of them...side by side. Nice. Our spot was a bit tight next to our neighbor but some of the rows had more space. However, we got the sunsets with no one in front. We did not use the facilities as we're self-contained. Easy check in at the office. Roads were also simple to navigate. Water pressure was good. Since going over to a KOA in May, the place has vastly improved. We camped at Helena North KOA (formerly Lincoln Road RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Silverado RV Park, Eureka, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is for the RV park. Great views. Quiet. 5:30-6am trucks start up. No dog walk but lots of area on the sides to walk them. Right next a golf course. Easy access to town. 7 miles to Canadian border. Gravel with grass. Dusty. Inexpensive. Long pull-throughs. Ask for sites facing east with no one in front of you for the views. Go pick a site, then tell them which one you want. About 8-9 out of the 25 were workers in town. Nice staff at the Lodge and the Lounge with extensive local knowledge. No WiFi. No amenities....no picnic table, no fire pit, no patio. Go into the Lodge to register. No map of grounds. 5-6 HUGE Potholes at entrance. We camped at Silverado RV Park in a Motorhome.

Blackwell Island RV Park, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

Location, location, location. The beach and close proximity to the lake and water is all they got for amenities. But....terrible WiFi....There are not enough bathrooms for the amount of sites they have (Lines in the morning to get in)... No store of any kind... Minimal grass with lots of brown... Mostly gravel all around... Diagonal parking but no views if you sit outside... Small trees on each site so most have little shade. Too expensive for what you get. We camped at Blackwell Island RV Park in a Motorhome.

Smokiam Campground, Soap Lake, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

We wanted to stay in central Washington to explore the Great Flood, the geology of the past and the coulees so this RV park had decent reviews. Here's a few highlight and observations: There are LOTS, and I do mean lots of children so it's very difficult to drive around plus you can never lay in the pool and relax. It's dominated by children. They just don't pay attention, even when we're just walking around...scooters, bikes, hovercraft, etc. They have two hot tubs, one for just adults, which is great...as long as you can squeeze yourself in. Also, something we've never come across before is that there is a large contingent of Russian-speaking people. Apparently, they come for the mud and healing mineral waters in Soap Lake. Everywhere we walked, we heard another language. The RV park's WIFI is only so-so, off and on and slow. Verizon is iffy also. Only one-lane for check-in so if you just want to drive back in, you could be stuck behind a check-in person, however, the check-in person was terrific and helpful (I was told there's new ownership). They used to have way too many people per site. I counted up to 15 at one spot! But the new ownership is beginning to eliminate that abuse. We stayed in G row...the best. It faced the trees and were out of the main traffic/people areas, plus there was a lot more room between sites. The other rows were very very close. Our fire pit was on the site itself, right near the back of our coach so no fire was possible. The lake is nice, the mud will come up to your ankles. 40-ft motorhome back-in with plenty of room for our toad. We'd stay here again. We camped at Smokiam Campground in a Motorhome.

Burlington / Anacortes KOA, Burlington, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here a week to visit the area. We stayed in the back section which is much more roomier between sites than the front. Very quiet. Could not hear the highway. WiFi was not that great...surprising. Water/electric were fine. Did not use the pool as it was too small, indoors and noisy. Bathrooms were spotless. Lots of places along the edges to walk the dog. Dog park was sufficient but we only used it once as our dog doesn't like dog parks. Very good room between coaches and, at an angle, which makes it seem roomier. Speed bumps in and out and are somewhat buried so watch for them. Not much room at the entrance to park when registering but the KOA person helped us find a spot. Entrance has a code box but it's down at car level so, with the coach, you have to get out, walk around to punch in the numbers. Burlington is only a few miles south where all the shopping is located. We camped at Burlington / Anacortes KOA in a Motorhome.

Riverbend RV Park, Twisp, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Great location. Site 19. We pull in facing the river so it's a gorgeous morning view. WIFI is not that great, nor is Verizon because of location. Largest dog park we've ever seen....at least 150 feet long. One dumpster only, as you leave the park. Did not try bathrooms. Entrance and exit is off a 50mph road so be careful. Some awful looking move-ons after you pay and go to your site. Not that appealing of an entrance. "What are we doing here"? But, the sites themselves are okay. Lots of road noise but it all stops as the evening comes on. Good grocery store in Twisp. We would stay here again. We camped at Riverbend RV Park in a Motorhome.

Gold Mountain RV Park, Republic, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for one night only. It's before the town of Republic coming from the east. Highway from Twisp was very difficult. All uphill and the LOTS of downhill with curves and 20mph turns. Exhausting. LONG pull-throughs with plenty of room for 40 footer and toad. Very welcoming lady at office...made us feel special. Gave us a "tour" of the facilities. VERY quiet, especially at night. Water and electric were fine. WIFI worked good. Plenty of room along the edges to walk the dog. Did not use bathrooms or showers. Easy in and out entrance. We would stay here again.
