Candy Hill Campground, Winchester, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2005 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed there several nights about 3 weeks ago. Had a unpleasant experience with one employee at check-in. The road going in has a double yellow line down the middle. There is a line where they want check-ins to stop upon entering. When we got there, an SUV towing a pop-up was in line but there was a great deal of roadway between him and the stop line. An occupant in the SUV waved me around. Thinking that they were having mechanical problems, I pulled around, parked and walked into the office. A gentleman from the SUV was checking in ahead of me and upon completion of the paperwork, the lady behind the counter told a young man where to park him. Upon realizing that I was now ahead of the SUV, the young man said "For future reference, those yellow lines are just like a highway. No passing." I told him that I was waved around and that there probably would be no "future". It seems that an employee leads every registrant into his site. We got a fairly wide site and put out our rug and chairs and set up their picnic table. Because of windy conditions, we rolled our awning up before we left the next morning. When we got back, all our "stuff" had been moved so a motorhome could pull through to the site behind us. Nothing was put back in place. I guess if our awning had been out, they would have rolled it up before the MH drove through. I can only assume that an employee did this. Well kept and clean. Sites farther away from the office are the widest and highway sounds were not a bother there. Probably would stay there again but it would be more pleasant if some personnel had more interpersonal training. We camped at Candy Hill Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
