RedTail RV Park (formerly Stage Gulch RV Park), Stanfield, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This is an easy access park about a mile off 84. A fair number of trees, but they do need trimming. Sites are level and fairly close together, but each site has a beautiful lawn separating each site. No picnic tables, but we normally don't use one, so no big deal to us. It does back to a secondary road so there was some road noise, but not objectionable. The park has been sold and the new name is RedTail RV Park and Storage, however the signage still show the original name. Go to https://www.redtailrvpark.com/ for more info. We camped at RedTail RV Park (formerly Stage Gulch RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park, Mandan, North Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very quiet and clean park with plenty of shade and room between sites located at the confluence of the Missouri & Heart rivers. There is a great deal of history to be visited right at the park. Power (30 & 50 amp) and water are available, but no sewer. Be aware that if you stay for one night, y0u will be charged a $7.00 day use fee for two days. So the $25.00 per night now becomes $39.00 if you stay one night. Stay 2 nights, charged for 3 days. I complained about that but the gate people are only following rules. I sent an email to ND Parks and Recreation about the situation, but no response yet. There is also a one-time $8.00 fee if you book online. We camped at Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park in a Motorhome.

Lake Washington Park, Mankato, Minnesota

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very clean park with 27 Electric sites, 1 non-electric and 3 primitive tent sites. The RV sites are all back-in and are very level with six 50 amp sites and the remainder 30 amp. They have a playground for children. There is a dump station as you leave and a water spigot to fill your water tank in the interior loop. Very quite at night. They do have senior citizen (+62) and veteran discounts on Sunday - Thursday. I have stayed here before and I will stay here again. I gave it an 8 only because of the lack of full hookups. We camped at Lake Washington Park in a Motorhome.

Hollywood Casino Hotel & RV Resort, Joliet, Illinois

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

When you drive down the approach road you need to look for the sign to the RV Park and Hotel. After you turn you go behind the hotel and around the far end. This is where you can park to go inside the hotel lobby to sign in. The staff was very friendly and explained how to find our site. We had a back in site that was $47.29 with Good Sam discount. This is for water and power, no sewer. Part of the charge is a $10 hotel amenity fee. This included a free hot buffet breakfast every morning which we felt paid for the amenity fee. There is a convenient dump as you leave the park. The sites have a large, nicely grassed, distance between them. Where there are two sites in this park, most parks would have 3. There are cement pads for back-in but with our 40' motorhome, the rear wheels extended into the grass, but the ground was very firm and we did not sink in. A suggestion; since there is a wide gravel area in front of each site, leave the rear wheels on the concrete even if the front sticks out a little. You can park the car on the gravel next to you RV. There are cement patios with picnic tables at each site. The pull through sites have cement pads but are pretty narrow and they cost a little more. We spent three nights and would stay here again. We camped at Hollywood Casino Hotel & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Part of the amenity fee was a coupon for $5 off at the Casino restaurant and they give you a bottle of water for each day/occupant. When you call for reservations, key in the number for hotel rooms. The hotel lobby takes care of hotel and RV park reservations.

St. Louis N.E. / I-270 / Granite City KOA, Granite City, Illinois

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is located in an industrial area but it is very quiet at night. Upon entering the campground it looks like a normal KOA but the interior roads are gravel as are the sites. The staff are very friendly and although there are a number of long term campers, the sites are kept very clean. This seems to be enforced by the park owners. The sites are very close together divided by a grassy area where the picnic tables are located. There are a number of trees in the park so it is not wide open. If both units have slides, you do not have much room to sit at your picnic table. Our site was level so no additional blocks were needed to level the coach. The water pressure was fine. The price is $51/night without the KOA discount. This is at most a $35 / night campground. We camped at St. Louis N.E. / I-270 / Granite City KOA in a Motorhome.

New Orleans KOA, River Ridge, Louisiana

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

This is an older park, but the main RV sites have a double-wide concrete pads that are set back about 30 feet from the U-shaped street. There is nice grass separating each roomy site. Good power, held at 123 Volts. The campground managers were very pleasant and helpful. All of the sites are back-in. They have transportation to the French Quarter and pick up in the evening. They have cable, good over the air reception, but I had good Dish reception so I didn't use either. The Laundry was $1.25 wash and $.75 to dry. We camped at New Orleans KOA in a Motorhome.

The address they have (11129 Jefferson Davis Highway) brings you to a closed entrance. However they are actually located on 290 S Starrett Rd, River Ridge, LA. Using this address, my Garmin GPS took me directly to their office.

Oasis RV Resort, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a fairly new campground with paved roads and long and wide pull through sites and a paved patio with table. They have three restroom/laundry buildings scattered throughout the park. They also have a large club house. It does have a beautiful outdoor pool, which is now closed for the season. Good WIFI, but still not as fast as my personal hotspot on ATT. Located about a 1/2 mile from freeway so the road noise is minimal. There is a Loves gas station at the intersection where you turn. The concrete pads are long and wide enough to park you toad behind or beside the RV. The laundry was the least expensive we have experienced with $1.00 wash and $1.00 dry. They had cable, but all the over the air national stations were all very strong. I definitely would stay here again. We camped at Oasis RV Resort in a Motorhome.

American RV Resort, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful RV Park with paved roadways and concrete pads and picnic table area. Nice to step off onto concrete. This is a completely gated park with automatic gates leaving but coded when you enter. Free continental breakfast in the morning. I was going to extend one day, but since it was the day before the Balloon Fiesta and their rates more than doubled to $95.00; I did not extend. We camped at American RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Heartland RV Park & Cabins, Hermosa, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

If you are visiting Mt Rushmore, the Badlands or just about anything in the Rapid City area, this is a very centrally located park and with Passport America is an excellent value. We were in a West facing site at the edge of the park and were looking over an empty field, very nice. The site was long enough for our RV but the parking was along the edge of the park about 20' away, so it was still convenient. Our site was not very level and we had to add blocks under our jacks and wheels to get level. However, I would stay here again and I would request a site in the #6nn line of sites. We camped at Heartland RV Park & Cabins in a Motorhome.

Famil-E-Fun Campground and RV Park, Mitchell, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

The staff is very friendly and escorted us to our pull through site. Interior roads and sites are gravel and level. Since we did not have a satellite dish we were in a nicely shaded spot with grass between sites. Good water pressure and 50 amp power. We used the laundry room, which was clean but was not air conditioned, so it was very hot in there. Overall, a very nice park and we would stay there again. Pipestone RV Campground, Pipestone, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

The site we were in was # 47, which was supposed to be a pull through on grass. We could not pull through due to a fire ring and another camper sited perpendicular to our site. So I backed into it and hooked up. About 2 hours later another couple came in and said we were in their spot. That is when I looked at the numbers on the power pole. Our site number was and site 48 were on the same pole. I had to pull forward, which made it to far for me to hook up sewer or water. The other RV pulled in behind me so we formed a big "T". This is not shown that way on a map. About an hour later we lost power so I ran my generator until we went to bed. Power was restored sometime that evening. So I paid for a full hookup site and was not able to use anything that evening. Looks like many of the sites are side-by-side and very close to each other. I would not stay here again. We camped at Pipestone RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Osens RV Park & Campground, Livingston, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here at least 4 times in the past and we keep coming back. The staff is friendly and always willing to help when asked. The street to the park is narrow but once into the park the roads are wide gravel and the sites are level and gravel. The is a wide grass strip between each site with a picnic table at each site. The WIFI is OK, but a little slow. I normally use my ATT hotspot anyway, so the WIFI is not a concern for me. The laundry is clean and modern. The showers/toilets are individual rooms accessed from the outside. They are clean and modern. My only concern is they have sprinklers for each grass area and if you have a dark RV and Toad like I do, I was not happy with the water spots on both units. However, I washed them off in the morning, so all was OK. We camped at Osens RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The West entrance to Yellowstone is just 50 miles away on a 70 mph road. As you arrive from Highway 90, the gas station on your right, just after Albertson's, has separate pumps in the back with both gas and diesel for RVs. I always stop in there to fill up as we arrive because it is so convenient.

Indianapolis KOA, Greenfield, Indiana

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is an easy to get to park right off of interstate 70. Follow the signs across a small bridge and make a u-turn between buildings to sign-in. Be aware that many of the pull-through sites are side-by-side. So if you want to share your patio with the unit next to you, these are for you. However, if you are like me, I would rather have my own patio, which are provided by the deluxe sites and some back-in sites. Otherwise this is a lovely park. We camped at Indianapolis KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a very quiet campground with easy access interior roads and level sites. The staff could not have been nicer and accommodating to us. Tips for other Campers:

There are not many facilities in White Sulfur Springs. There are two very small grocery stores that offer the basics.

Ask about the Castle Town, a deserted town, and the Charles M Bair Museum and home. Both are fun to visit. Castle Town is reached via a gravel road that we took in a Ford Focus. Due to road conditions, we were ready to turn around when we found it. About 5 miles past the "No Trespassing" sign.

St. Mary / East Glacier KOA, St Mary, Montana

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $63.00
Overall Rating:

Like most KOA campgrounds, this one is over priced, but since it is the only decent full-service campground in the area, they get their price. The WIFI was pretty much useless. I was able to receive emails, but I would have to try multiple times to get an email to send and forget about looking up something on the web. They had a strong WIFI signal but lousy throughput. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. They have a little ice cream and coffee bar where they will make sandwiches for you to take with you for lunch. They also have a barbecue available each night during the Summer. Good size swimming pool and spa, both out doors of course. The interior roads are narrow, but passable. I was in M1, a back-in site that was angled appropriately for backing in to it, but we had to go out the same direction we came in, so it took some maneuvering to get turned around. There was a low rock protecting something next to the road that I hit with my front wheel and made a large gouge in it and the fender rode up on it and scratched the bottom. Not sure why it was there, just very annoying to scratch a 22.5" motorhome wheel. We camped at St. Mary / East Glacier KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you are coming in from Browning, MT do not take highway 89. It is a narrow windy road and is difficult with a motorhome or towing a trailer. Instead take highway 464, which is somewhat longer, but it is a wider, straighter road that comes in North of St. Mary so you have to backtrack a little. The receipt you get from the KOA does mention this, but it is down toward the bottom of the receipt where few people will read it.
