Baton Rouge KOA, Denham Springs, Louisiana

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

This park was a very pleasant surprise. The staff was very friendly; we were escorted to our site. The site had a long concrete pad for our 40ft motorhome and toad and a patio lined with pavers. There was a reasonable space between sites. In spite of the concrete having multiple cracks, we had no problem leveling. We stayed here for one rainy night and did not see the back of the park but what we saw, was well kept and clean. I don't know what else is in the area to justify the nightly price of $55.00 except choices are quite limited. We camped at Baton Rouge KOA in a Motorhome.

Distant Drums RV Resort, Camp Verde, Arizona

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very clean park. All sites are concrete pads with patio, picnic table and some nice landscaping. Roads are asphalt. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The only negative thing I can say is that the wifi was not very strong; neither was our Verizon mi-fi, so might reflect the area rather than the park. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Paris Mountain State Park, Greenville, South Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This park is not for motor homes. Sites are small, quite uneven, and several sites are on an angle; some 20-30 degrees! And the most important thing is the road up to the campground is very dangerous for motor homes! It's a one lane curvy, mountain road and many of the locals or employees of the park drive very fast on this road, never thinking about what they might encounter on a turn. There are no garbage bends in the campground, many picnic tables are on unlevel ground which means they are useless. There was no flat ground to unhitch our towed vehicle. One site across from us was so uneven due to tree roots that you could not park a car on it. I just didn't see any maintenance in the camp area but someone felt it important enough to put concrete bumpers in a parking lot across from the office. Tenters and small campers might like this but I would not return in anything. We camped at Paris Mountain State Park in a Motorhome.

Elks Lodge #2782, Foley, Alabama

Date of Stay: December, 2014 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

The on-site manager was very friendly. This location is very convenient to the outlet mall and popular restaurants. It's quiet and small with about 20 sites and less than half were occupied. The sites hookups are shared so you are close to your neighbor; one faces one way, you face the other direction. We had to use blocks to level our motorhome - we haven't had to use them in 2 years. Roads are gravel, sites are gravel filled in with grass. Their website said $25 for non members but when you arrive there is a sign for $30. Manager said they don't have anyone to change their website. A little too high as to the unmaintained area and lack of any amenities other than hook-ups. Not likely to return here, not enough of a savings to be worth it. We camped at Elks Lodge #2782 in a Motorhome.

Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground, Swannanoa, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We really enjoyed this quiet park. The park is on 3 levels; the top level is the newest and still expanding section with views of the Blue Ridge Parkway. They have done a nice job of providing landscape to help separate sites and more importantly cover the the hook-ups from each site. So when you are sitting outside of your site, you don't have to look at your neighbor's sewer hoses. The park's workers were extremely helpful as they escort everyone to their site and guide you in. Very convenient to Asheville, Black Mountain, Blue Ridge Pkwy; it's only 1/2 mile off I-40. Our Verizon mifi did not work nor did our cell phones; that might reflect our site location, not sure. We had good wifi provided by the park. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Motorhome.

Los Suenos de Santa Fe RV Park, Santa Fe, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2013 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Very friendly office staff. Great location; very convenient to Santa Fe's major attractions - the Turquoise Trail, Canyon Rd, the Plaza downtown, the Railyard - all were within a 20 minute drive. We rode the city bus once downtown which was a nice option for only $1 round trip. The sites are gravel with about 6 feet between rigs. The negative on the sites was that the sewer hose is right next to the concrete pad with the picnic table. There seemed to be about 25% of the tenants as permanents or semi-permanents. They frequented the bathhouse so you might not want to be parked near the facilities just for the walking traffic. Friends of ours stayed at another park that is a little out of town and said this was a much nicer park. Some of us rode bikes which was accessible not far from the rear of the park. Definitely would return here. We camped at Los Suenos de Santa Fe RV Park in a Motorhome.

Weatherford / Fort Worth West KOA, Weatherford, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2013 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is NOT a big rig friendly. This is a very old campground that had about 80% permanents or semi-permanents there. Most sites were so close, there were less than 3 feet between slides. We have a 36ft motorhome and had a terrible time finding a site that we could fit in due to trees and low hanging limbs. We asked the office staff for tree trimmers, but they didn't know if they had any and then couldn't find any. We would not stay here again. We camped at Weatherford / Fort Worth West KOA in a Motorhome.

Bean Pot Campground, Crossville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for one night. Staff was very friendly. Sites are gravel, pull-throughs. We were able to stayed hooked up with our toad and 40ft motorhome. On trying to depart we could not retract our jacks. We called Bowman's RV Service and they came within 30 minutes, were very efficient and helpful. If you should have a need, we would highly recommend them. We camped at Bean Pot Campground in a Motorhome.

Holly Bluff Family Campground, Asheboro, North Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2012 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This park was okay. We did not use any of the facilities. Sites were unlevel, some worse than others. We have a 40 ft RV and there seemed to be very few sites for a large rig. It was obvious most of this park was filled with permanent or long-term residents. Saw several residents walk their dogs but not pick up after them. There were very few 50 amp sites. I called several days ahead of time and a gentleman took my name and phone number but when we arrived, he had no record. After 30 minutes, he found his note but had not assigned us a site. He was quite confused about assigning us a site. He had sites booked for the day we were to leave and was quite confused about giving us a site because he was afraid the new arrivals would come before we left. My husband finally asked about check in and check out time and told him it should not be a problem. All systems were written on paper so it was confusing. They only took cash or check. Not the worst campground we've been and would stay there again in a pinch but certainly will look a little further out next time. We camped at Holly Bluff Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Chewacla State Park, Auburn, Alabama

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice, quiet park. They are updating power to 50 amp. Sites were gravel and we had some ant invasion but were able to control it with granular repellent spread around the outside. There are some off road bike trails in the park and a nice paved bike path right outside of the park. Definitely will return here. We camped at Chewacla State Park in a Motorhome.

Lake Tobesofkee Claystone Park, Macon, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Stopped here for one night but will definitely return for a longer stay. Sites were concrete slabs, all had a view of the lake. It was a beautiful scene looking out on the water. Property next door does have roosters that were noisy day and night but the scenery outweighed their annoyance for us. The staff were extremely kind and helpful. We camped at Lake Tobesofkee Claystone Park in a Motorhome.

Little Mountain Marina Camping Resort, Langston, Alabama

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This is a large park. Sites are grass, so some have ruts due to heavy vehicles and/or soggy ground. It's obvious most sites are long term campers. The sites are very narrow there was less than 12 feet between the power supply and concrete patio. Only two pull-throughs in this huge park. Very odd check in, the office staff had no idea what sites were available so told us to find a site and report to them. Be aware of traveling up Hwy 68 to get there as it is curvy, narrow and no shoulders on the road. We would not return here. We camped at Little Mountain Marina Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Eastbank COE, Bainbridge, Georgia

Date of Stay: November, 2011 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful, peaceful, serene campground. All sites are nice but loop C is the only one with paved (concrete) sites. Bathrooms are in loop B for the entire campsite so this might be a consideration for some. Check out the day park Chattahoochee Park for walking and bike paths, just north of Eastbank. Directions to get to campground from I-10 is incomplete on website. Follow CR 269 North to Hwy 90. After you turn left on Hwy 90, the next light turn right on Bolivar. Follow sign to Eastbank. We camped at Eastbank COE in a Motorhome.

Lakewood RV Resort (55+ park), Flat Rock, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2011 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very friendly 55+ park for people and pets. We didn't see any young children, but understand they are permitted as visitors and expected to be kept under close supervision. It has about half park models and half RV sites. We received excellent phone service with our Verizon cell and ATT air card. The park is very clean and well kept. Some pull-throughs and lots of back-in sites; some on a hill so might want to ask about incline of site when making reservations. The only lacking part is nature. Trees on sites are young therefore provide little shade. Sites are designed to face each other so not a scenic view. It's very convenient to Hendersonville which has many excellent restaurants, a couple of local play theatres, nice local shops, and Carl Sandburg Home. We would return here. We camped at Lakewood RV Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.
