Silver Valley Campsites, Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

This our second time in two years staying at this campground. Just to let you know there isn't much in New Jersey, east Pennsylvania or south New York for full hook up CGs with CATV and WiFi. My GPS wasn't picking up on Silver Valley "Ct." I was here on a NASCAR weekend and it was nearly full. It looks like the owner is re-grading the roads (widen, fill-in, drainage) with quarry process. He also added a new building made from trees taken off the property. I say it is OK. However, the internet ran slow half the time. We camped at Silver Valley Campsites in a Fifth Wheel.

Kamper's Lodge Campground, Wilson, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

A little bit of a drive off I-95 N, but worth it. The grounds were neatly trimmed. They appear to be sprucing up the grounds with shrubs and mulch. The sites are level. We opted for CATV for a couple of bucks more than the PA rate. I would recommend this CG. We camped at Kamper's Lodge Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The Oaks at Point South, Yemassee, South Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

First you have to find this place before you can stay at this creepy campground. I saw signs as I was exiting I-95N but then nothing. I drove around for a half-hour asking a local for directions. It turns out, it is off Yemasee Road next to "Waffle House" - then make a left at the end. Keep driving until you hit a swampy area, and you are there. We tried calling their office for directions, and it kept going to message. When I explained this when arriving, the manager said, "Well, I had the phone with me the whole time". She ended up giving us CATV for free for our troubles. She also was excited that she could give us a site with no water puddles! Oh joy! This campground has water puddles all over the place. It seems to me that they spend nothing on maintenance and upkeep. When we woke up then next morning, the sun light didn't break into the swamp area until 10:30. I don't think we'll come here again. We camped at The Oaks at Point South in a Fifth Wheel.

Southern Oaks RV Resort, Summerfield, Florida

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

The location and proximity to The Villages is what made us stay here. Once here, it was a decent CG. Great WiFi that didn't skip a beat. The site were somewhat level. Yes, it could use concrete pads and maybe a picnic table but the rate was good with PA. The clubhouse, pool and bathrooms were great. The other residents are nice. The only complaint was the sand being tracked in the camper. I would definitely stay here again. It is an over 50+ CG but allow others to stay for 2 weeks or less. We camped at Southern Oaks RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Ponderosa RV Park, Kissimmee, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

The park is probably half filled with full-timers and park model home. The lots are narrow. Our pull-through site happened to be on the end of loop and was decent width. Some of the permanent residents seem to have a lot of additions, sheds and lawn ornaments, but it is Florida. The Internet is provided by a third-party called Nationwide. It cost $10 for 48 hours. No need for CATV because it has all the major over-the-air channels. The turnpike is close by but the tree line blocks some of the noise. We ran the A/C so it didn't bother us. Not a bad place to spend a couple of days We camped at Ponderosa RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Pine Lake RV Park, Fountain, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

We tried this CG because it was on our Passport America list. Mind you, it was off-season and no one was here except for some full-timers. We like the pine trees surrounding the CG because it gave some shade in the afternoon. Plenty of room to walk our dogs. We had a FHU with 50 amps. The over-the-air TV channels had all the majors. Watch your turning radii. if you have a big rig. Could have used a picnic table. Owner was great. We camped at Pine Lake RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Great CG. It seems always to be 90% full. So call ahead. They offer WiFi, CATV, free bikes to use on premises, continental breakfast, and they have level concrete pads that are long. Right off I-10. We camped at Gulf Coast RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Bay Hide Away RV Park & Campground, Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We came here in the off-season on a Sunday night (5:30). On the second bend into site 11 I nearly scraped a tree real close to the gravel road. The owners put cones out to warn you but our 40' 5W couldn't quite make it. I had to back up and try again. The grounds are quiet except I heard gunshots/fireworks a couple hundred yards away. PA discount is not good on weekends and that includes Sunday night too. So I had to pay $40 for that night. I thought that is a little steep for off-season in MS. I hadn't paid that much my entire trip from AZ! No CATV. Only air channels (11) out of New Orleans across the sound. The Wi-Fi was a little slow. The restrooms and laundry were very clean. The campsite is 8 miles from I-10. We camped at Bay Hide Away RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice and flat. You will need a reservation. It was 90% filled. Check out the buffet inside. The CATV was snowy. I opted to use air instead. Security is around all the time. We camped at Las Vegas KOA at Sam's Town in a Fifth Wheel.

Bauer's Canyon Ranch RV Park, Glendale, Utah

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

No CATV, but had seven air channels - Wi-Fi. Smaller park. A little tough to maneuver a 40' fifth wheel in some pull-throughs, but manageable. Tried to call all day for reservation and found out on arrival that a novice worker never answered the phone or called back people who left a message. Other than that, the staff was very friendly. We camped at Bauer's Canyon Ranch RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Stone Mountain Park, Stone Mountain, Georgia

Date of Stay: January, 2013 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Where do I begin. Be aware, to get into the park you have to pay $10 just to GET to the campground! We arrived near dark and in the rain. Only one FHU left in this narrow, rooted site. No air or cable TV as advertised. The Wi-Fi was either nonexistent or spotty at best. I would never come back. We camped at Stone Mountain Park in a Truck Camper.
