Bass Lake RV Campground, Dillon, South Carolina

Date of Stay: December, 2012 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Easy access off I-95. It is at the end of a service road on the west side. Nice and flat with sandy, compacted roads. Newer office and out buildings. The bathrooms and showers were really clean. I'd come back again. BTW, the highway noise is there but not terrible. We camped at Bass Lake RV Campground in a Truck Camper.

Fredericksburg / Washington DC South KOA, Fredericksburg, Virginia

Date of Stay: December, 2012 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Not a bad campground. Was in site 101 down by the lake. It rained that day so water collected around our site with puddles. The Wi-Fi was down. Bathrooms and showers were really clean. We camped at Fredericksburg / Washington DC South KOA in a Truck Camper.

TripleBrook Family Campground, Blairstown, New Jersey

Date of Stay: August, 2012 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

No discounts from any camping clubs. GPS directions were off only because we used Hope, NJ instead of Blairstown, NJ. Lots of rules and signs. The water hookup was a distance away from the other utilities. My hose just made it. Our site was not level. Biggest setback was no CATV or antenna reception. No Wi-Fi either. They only have internet at office at a cost of $9 for the weekend. Seems that it is more of a family-oriented campground with kids. Would I stay here again? Probably not. We camped at TripleBrook Family Campground in a Truck Camper.

Fort Chiswell RV Park, Max Meadows, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2012 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

What a great over-nighter. Well maintained grounds: i.e. grass, paint, signs, picnic tables. The bathrooms are very clean and neat. The staff was real friendly. Easy access off I-81 but be warned: my GPS had me going 7 more miles past the entrance. But don't worry, their signs certainly give you enough notice. The only drawback was my site (#10) was pitched up and required ramps to level it. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Truck Camper.

R&D Family Campground, Milford, Virginia

Date of Stay: April, 2012 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

A little off the I-95 corridor but real quiet and a Passport America campground. The roads and sites are compacted gravel/dirt with easy radius turns. We had pull-through site 25. It was slightly pitch down but not too bad. Lots of tall pines with cleared ground around them to walk the dog. If I had too guess, this campground looks several years old. We got 5 digital air channels for TV. Most pleasant surprise was the bathrooms - very clean and squared away. We camped at R&D Family Campground in a Truck Camper.

Lumberton / I-95 KOA, Lumberton, North Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2012 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

It is better than an over-nighter. The staff escorts you to the site and helps you negotiate the site. The hook-up was simple and well located. The site was paved and kind of level. I-95 is off in the distance, but not too noisy. The bathrooms were OK. You get 11 digital air channels. Not bad. We camped at Lumberton / I-95 KOA in a Motorhome.

Golden Isles Vacation Park, Brunswick, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2012 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

EZ access from I-95. Staff was pleasant. Got the PA rate of $16.80. The detraction was that the CATV didn't work well at all. Too much pixelation and the station would drop off. Neighbor campers said the same thing. Sign on office door says that Comcast requires a box for $40 deposit because it converted to digital. However, I have a digital TV! It should not have mattered. I think something is wrong with their wiring. Other than missing our Sunday night shows, it was a good over-nighter. We camped at Golden Isles Vacation Park in a Truck Camper.

Juniper Lake RV Campground, Defuniak Springs, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2012 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We happened upon this campground only because our first choice didn't answer the phone. But we were not disappointed. To best describe it, it reminded me of my days of a kid in upstate NY (rough-sawn out buildings). It is hard to believe this is in Florida. The lake has large trees surrounding it. Has a nice back-woodsy kind of smell to it. The owners were real nice and welcoming. They invited us down to the dock along the lake for coffee in the morning. The 20 sites are level but the horseshoe-shaped road leading in and out is a bit pitched somewhat (we had the first easy in/out spot). Although there were some fifth wheel and trailers present which says it can't be too difficult. Check out the huge fish and turtles right off the dock. Great spot for an over night. We camped at Juniper Lake RV Campground in a Truck Camper.

Coachlight Inn & RV Park, Las Cruces, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2011 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Las Cruces is a busy little town. Some of the streets have tight lanes. We came in after hours. The instructions were clear on where to set up and how much. The over-nighters get the back corner on pea-sized compacted gravel. But it was OK. The FHU was in order. Wifi and cable TV worked well. 74 channels on the TV! The place was clean with wide roads throughout. We camped at Coachlight Inn & RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Twin Fountains RV Park, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: September, 2011 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Tell you what: this is a great campground for OKC. The grounds are beautiful: concrete pads, well-kept grass, utilities all good. The main building/office/shop/pool area and bathrooms were all top-notch. The only issue was that the entire campsite is built into a bowl-shaped hill with a highway above it. Most of the sites are level but have a hill down and off the site onto the roadway. If you are long with a toad be sure you get a site long enough for it. One of the best campgrounds I've been to in a while. We camped at Twin Fountains RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Downtown Riverside RV Park, North Little Rock, Arkansas

Date of Stay: September, 2011 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

Actually this is a decent RV park. It looks to me that the city used construction fill to man-make the park along the river and then put a QP over the top to make it level. It does have a nice view of the city on the other side of the river. Only problem is that it only offers 2 30A sites. Everything else is 50A. They will lend you a "50A to 30A converter" for a $20 deposit. There is grass along the river with park benches to walk the dog. The bath/shower are pre-fab out buildings that are OK if you need them. The air TV signals are great. Not bad at all for an over-night stay. It looks like mostly Class A and 5th wheels stay here. We camped at Downtown Riverside RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Sherman Oaks Campground, Dandridge, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2011 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

This is strictly an "overnight" campground. Everything is done over the phone and honesty method. A rolling fence is in place. You have to let yourself in an out. The water quality was so-so. It was close enough to the highway to feel secure. We were the only campers there for the night. Plan your exit if you are there in a longer unit. One site is best to pull through and around. We camped at Sherman Oaks Campground in a Truck Camper.

We were here for a truck camper rally. Some of the sites were very uneven. Some of the sites were a bit muddy from out our back door. But besides that, we had a good time. We camped at Western Village RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Loretta Lynn's Family Campground, Hurricane Mills, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2011 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

I called in advance and was told that the pull-through with FHU were only 50A electric. My truck camper is only 30A. She said we'd have to take a non-sewer site to get the 30A service. What?! Every campground in America has 30A available at a FHU! We camped at Loretta Lynn's Family Campground in a Truck Camper.

Nashville North KOA, Goodlettsville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2011 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

If you are towing a vehicle - be advised that the roads inside are narrow and radius on the turns are tight. In addition, they aren't well marked which ones are "in/out" or one way. Besides that, it is a well-maintained campground. The store is squared away. 48 air channels and Wi-Fi that was in and out. Great laundry room. We camped at Nashville North KOA in a Truck Camper.
