Silver Valley Campsites, Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2011 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

A third of the campsite is hilly, the other two-thirds has a flat section leading down to a stream. We stayed in the flat section. Roughly about half the sites are shaded. They give a good effort to involve families in activities. The owner was real nice to chat with. The gravel roads to, in, and around can get a bit dusty if vehicles don't follow the 5 mph speed limit. The CATV and Wi-Fi worked well. It was quiet at night after 10:30 p.m. Dog friendly. Some of the hilly sites would not be too level. We camped at Silver Valley Campsites in a Truck Camper.

Wekiva Falls RV Resort, Sorrento, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2011 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

A real family-oriented resort with a water feature that is pretty impressive. The weekends are busy. The sewer connections are a good 25' from the rest of the utility hookups. Why? I had to pull forward quite a bit and use and an extension. The grounds are nice with shady spots. The staff is present and watching. The Sheriff patrols also. The bathrooms are OK, not great. We camped at Wekiva Falls RV Resort in a Truck Camper.

October Bend RV Park, Lake City, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2011 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Not recommended. It is way at the end of a dirt road. Just enough room to pass another wide RV. Deep water troughs on either side. When you arrive, there is no one here to greet you! You have to call ahead and some woman, not the owner, shows up to collect the money. No other campers in sight! Isolated and buggy. The water was yellow. No cable TV as advertized. We got our money back and left. I'd be surprised if they stay in business. We camped at October Bend RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Payne's RV Park, Theodore, Alabama

Date of Stay: April, 2011 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

A few miles off I-10 but worth it. Quiet. Sites are hard-pack gravel. Easy in/out. No cable TV, but there are 21 channels over air. $3 for internet. Nice woman checking me in. We camped at Payne's RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Johnson Creek RV Resort & Park, Kerrville, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2011 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Real neat location in the foothills among pecan tree grove with an elevated view of water. Charming place, clubhouse knotty pine with a homey feeling. Concrete pads. No cable or TV reception: must use SATV. I highly recommend it. We camped at Johnson Creek RV Resort & Park in a Truck Camper.

Vista RV Park, Sierra Blanca, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2011 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Great for the price. Easy on/off I-10. Might be tight for anything over 45'. Level, gravel sites. Decent widths. Major drawback: a train comes through town only a 150 yards away and blasts the horn on the hour throughout the night. No sleep. We camped at Vista RV Park in a Truck Camper.
