Countryside RV Park, LLC, Dillon, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park. Packed gravel roads, pads with grass between pads. Lots of room between sites. Very few trees. No over the air tv or cable (office has free dvd's for loan). Good satellite reception. Excellent wi-fi. Very good water pressure. Good location. Right off I-15, just south of town. Quiet and easy access to Bannack State Park (ghost town) and other historic sites in the area. We camped at Countryside RV Park, LLC in a Motorhome.

Bannack State Park 20 miles west is a must see. One of the country's best preserved ghost town with 50-60 old historic buildings dating to 1860's when it was a bustling gold mining town which was abandoned when the ore ran out.

River Country Campground, Gadsden, Alabama

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Nice spot on the river for an overnight stay or a destination place for families. Nice pool and boating and fishing on the river. Very quiet. A few miles from I-59 on the I-759 spur but easy access. Hard packed gravel sites and pads. Good satellite and verizon service. We camped at River Country Campground in a Motorhome.

Packed gravel roads and sites. In town and convenient to all the attractions, restaurants, and national military park. Some sites have a big slope to them and are hard to level but ours wasn't. We camped at Ameristar Vicksburg RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The national military park is fascinating. Visit the site of the first coke bottling plant in the country (a former drug store now a museum) and the city history museum in the old courthouse. We enjoyed dining at Rusty's Riverfront Grill for casual dining and the Anchuca Mansion dining room for a more upscale experience (but dressed casually)

Forest Retreat RV Park, New Caney, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is a well run park we have stayed at numerous times. Paved roads and sites. Sites are a little narrow and tight turns required to get in but well worth it if you need to stay anywhere from Humble north. We had excellent satellite reception as well as verizon. Good wi-fi. Very quiet park. We camped at Forest Retreat RV Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park just off I-10 but no highway noise. Good satellite and Verizon. Paved pads and roads. Easy to navigate. Nice pool and hot tub. We stayed in the public section but there is also a very nice private section. A convenient overnight stop but also a good spot for longer stays to explore the area. We camped at Buckhorn Lake Resort in a Motorhome.

Carlsbad KOA, Carlsbad, New Mexico

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Dusty gravel sites and roads. Wi-fi wasn't working. There a lot of other RV parks that have sprung up in the area to accommodate the oil field service workers and they are to be avoided. They are crowded and cater to long terms stays. This park, in my opinion, is the best in the area, but, it is 45 minutes from the caverns. They lead us to our site. We camped at Carlsbad KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you plan to take a guided tour of the caverns (you can visit the main big room on your own). make an advance reservation. The restaurant in the visitor center features local SW cuisine with fresh ingredients. Avoid at all costs route 285 between I-10. I-20 and Carlsbad. This is the worst road I've ever been on. Its been beaten to a pulp by heavy traffic from trucks servicing the oil fields and is under construction to boot (in late June 2019).

Route 66 RV Resort, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Newer park, no shade, but very convenient overnight stop. All paved roads and sites. Spacious sites. Good satellite reception and Verizon service and wi-fi. Nice swimming pool. Restrooms were clean. Shuttle service to the casino if you want to eat there, or, gamble. About 10 miles west of Albuquerque. A little confusing navigating your way into the park from I-40 because of all the other casino-related areas so drive slowly and watch your signs carefully. We camped at Route 66 RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The main restaurant in the casino was very good. They also have a buffet restaurant and several fast food outlets at the travel plaza on site. I would probably even stay here if I wanted to do things in Albuquerque because of the paved sites and roads (those closer to down are gravel and they can get quite dusty when there is a lot of wind, which there usually is, in this area)

Grand Canyon Railway RV Park, Williams, Arizona

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Paved roads and sites. Roads were a bit tight because of people parking their cars and ATVs all over the place, but, manageable. Easy walk to town for restaurants and the Dairy Queen. Spaces a big close together, but, Ive seen worse. Convenient location if you want to (1) take the train to the national park (great for kids) or (2) you don't want to park your RV in the park. Our stay was very pleasant. Good satellite reception and good Verizon service. We camped at Grand Canyon Railway RV Park in a Motorhome.

Bear Valley Rv & Campground Resort, Panguitch, Utah

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

A gravel parking lot in the middle of nowhere. Power was good. Good satellite reception. About 10 miles from town, 25 miles from Bryce Canyon National Park. They lost our reservation but it didn't matter because they had plenty of space. Big back to front slope and front wheels almost came off the ground. Biggest problem. Cigarette butts were all around our site. We camped at Bear Valley Rv & Campground Resort in a Motorhome.

Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park & Cabins, West Yellowstone, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $85.00
Overall Rating:

Many of the sites have trees blocking satellite reception. And for big rigs, some of the branches from trees might hit the top and side of your coach. If you see a problem when you pull in, ask to have them trimmed. Sites are narrow. Wi-fi is fair but Verizon works well. Extremely popular campground so reserve at least 6 months in advance to get the type of site you want. We camped at Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park & Cabins in a Motorhome.

Pony Express RV Resort, North Salt Lake, Utah

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Paved roads and sites. Not a lot of shade. If you're a big rig ask for (and pay for) the biggest sites. Other sites are a bit to short for big rigs with toads. Narrow pads and you may want to disconnect your coach before pulling in and park your car in front of your RV so you can keep your RV toward the back of the site which is closer to the sewer connection. WiFi is good. Now a part of Sun RV resorts but service doesn't seem to have changed from the original owners. We camped at Pony Express RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

A lot to see and do in Salt Lake and the surrounding area, starting with Temple Square and the State Capitol. Nice trolley service downtown and its only about a 15 minute drive from the park. This year we went to Golden Spike National Historic Site one day (about90 miles one way) and Bonneville Salt Flats (about 100 miles one way), so they are long drives but very interesting.

Mountain Valley RV Resort, Heber City, Utah

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $58.00
Overall Rating:

One of the nicest RV Parks we have ever stayed at. Paved roads and concrete pads that are extra wide (you could fit two coaches side by side on them) and extra long. They have an adults only section as well as a family section. High water pressure. Bring pressure regulators. Free wi-fi is not very good but they have a reasonably priced high speed option. RVs face NE so no evening sun on the passenger (awning) side which helps during summer months. Nice Mountain views to the rear of RVs. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Beautiful mountain scenery to explore. Be sure to take the back road to Park City through Guardsman Pass and explore the highway to Mirror Lake which goes up to 10,700 feet. And don't miss the spectacular views from the top of the chair lift at Sundance Resort. Lots of hiking trails throughout the area.

Gilgal Oasis RV Park, Sequim, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Beautifully landscaped small park. Spaces are hard to get into for big rigs but the staff helps guide you and it is doable without scratching your coach. Cars park in front of the RVs parallel to the road and sometimes you may have to get people to move their car to get in our out of your space but the staff helps with that. Good WiFi, satellite and Verizon cell phone and good cable. Nicely manicured lawn between sites. Sewer connections are a bit farther away than normal (more than 20 feet) and you may need an extension. We camped at Gilgal Oasis RV Park in a Motorhome.

Sea Perch RV Resort, Yachats, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $98.00
Overall Rating:

A great park right on the ocean. The beach is just 15 feet from the Ocean front sites (4--9). There are other sites back from the ocean. For the ocean front sites you pull in and the ocean is right in front of your front window. The sound of the surf and the view can't be beat, though those sites are a bit expensive. The sites and interior roads are paved. Each site has a picnic table and patio. Good separation from neighbors. Good satellite reception. Basic cable. Can't remember if we had cell service but good wi-fi. There are a number of scenic sites close by and the little village of Yachats (7 miles away) has restaurants and small grocery stores. The bigger city of Newport is about 30 miles north. This is our second visit. On our first, we saw whales swimming north just offshore. We camped at Sea Perch RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Monroe Creek Campground & RV Park, Weiser, Idaho

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Long pull-through but needed to disconnect the car to get into the narrow gravel site because of sharp turn and trees on access road. Low branches on trees on the access to the site. Not a lot of transient traffic. Some long term rentals. Stayed here because we were taking a boat trip through Hell's Canyon and this was the closest park that looked like it was accessible for a big rig (though the trip departure point at the Hells Canyon Dam was 90 miles away). Other reviewers noted that the water was high in sulfur content so it was advisable to bring a full tank of water. WiFi was OK. Satellite reception was fine. We did have Verizon data service. Cable had the basic channels. Park had nice grass between sites but they were close together. We camped at Monroe Creek Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Hells Canyon Adventures at the Hells Canyon Dam offers 6 hour and 2 hour jet boat rides through the deepest parts of the canyon. Very enjoyable trip. They also do raft trips and fishing excursions. Book in advance. And leave plenty of time to negotiate twisting narrow mountain roads to get there and remember they are on Pacific time while the park is on Mountain time.
