Sad to say that after camping in our RV for many years at Jellystone in Gardiner New York, this past Memorial Day 2016 weekend was my family's last.
This used to be a nice friendly family owned campground until it was sold to Michigan based Northgate Resorts making it a corporate owned campground. Under corporate ownership the rates have risen higher than any other campground in New York State. You are nickel & dimed to death for every little thing.
As with all campgrounds, there are rules to follow which I believe makes for better and safer camping. This campground has a list of rules that are given upon check-in. I was told that if we break any of the rules such as not wearing issued wristbands or move the fire ring, my credit card will be charged $25 for each offense. If you have a young child that happens to lose a wristband they also charge $25 for a replacement. I've been camping for 35 years and this is the first campground where I had to wear a plastic wristband and if I'm found not wearing it, I will be charged $25.
When we were here on Memorial Day weekend, the 10-month old water park was closed the entire time for repairs. When I called the campground office a few days ahead of our arrival I was told the water park would definitely be open for the holiday weekend. When we went to the Tiki Bar for ice cream we were told they didn't have any yet. How can you not have ice cream for a major holiday weekend?
The current top management has very poor customer service skills. When you ask a staff member a question, they cannot answer simple questions about the campground. They need to be trained in customer service skills and campground policy. With the new management in this campground the customer is always WRONG and it is now the campground of NO.
So if you like speeding golf carts, high prices and where the customers are not treated well by the staff, then this is the place for you. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Lazy River in a Travel Trailer.

I've camped at this campground for over 15 years. When it was privately owned it was great now that is was purchased by a large corporation, it is now run-down, no improvements in at least 5 years, dirty/backed up bathrooms, dirty showers, laundry out of order. Hardly any visible staff around. The septic system is failing resulting in septic trucks pumping around the campground every two hours like clock work, noisy and smelly! This campground is not worth $70 per night and they charge extra for every little thing. We camped at Lake George Escape Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We camp here several time a year. This is is still a family owned campground that is super well maintained. Everything is clean and spotless. The pool is spectacular!! We will keep coming back. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Birchwood Acres in a Travel Trailer.
