Angel Fire RV Resort, Angel Fire, New Mexico

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $66.00
Overall Rating:

This is a wonderful park and fully deserving of it its 10/10/10 rating. Spacious, level concrete sites with patio and picnic table. Good spacing between sites with natural landscaping (that is, native grasses and yes, weeds, but it's fine). Hundreds of aspen trees have been planted within the park; they are not very large yet but should be spectacular in the fall. Gorgeous mountain views. No swimming pool, but large hot tub and you are given a card which gives you access to the pool and fitness center at the country club in town. Wi fi and cable worked well, all sites should be satellite friendly. Very nice clubhouse. Large, clean individual bathrooms at the office building and a separate bathhouse/laundry within the park. Large, grassy dog park. Free waffles at the office each morning. Friendly, helpful staff. And some of my favorite things about this park: No rule prohibiting RVs over a certain age. No speed bumps. No ridiculous speed limit signs. And despite the lack of these rules, no problems with speeders, junky rigs, etc. We camped at Angel Fire RV Resort in a Motorhome.

EZ Daze RV Park, Southaven, Mississippi

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

A large park in two sections, with a second phase across the street south of the main park. Roads are paved and wide enough to provide easy access to all parts of the park. Most sites are long pull-throughs with a row of back-ins along one side of each section. Sites have concrete parking area and patio with picnic table, with well-kept grass between reasonably-spaced sites. The park and all facilities are well-maintained. The new section has a larger laundry room and nice individual rest rooms with sink, toilet and shower. There are no trees, so satellite should work anywhere; park cable system has good selection of channels. Lots of restaurants and shopping close by; you are 12 miles from Graceland and 18 miles from downtown Memphis. Wi Fi worked OK sometimes, very slow other times. We camped at EZ Daze RV Park in a Motorhome.

Hot Springs National Park KOA, Hot Springs, Arkansas

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is not within the National Park but is only about 15 minutes away. If you want to camp in the woods, this is the place for you. RV sites and cabins are in various clusters throughout the heavily-treed park on the side of a mountain. Satellite will not work in most sites but there is a good selection of cable channels. Within the clusters, sites are packed closely together with no free space. Whoever designed the park did not consider things like a place to hook up your toad or parking at the club room (which is a long way from many parts of the park). Interior roads are asphalt with curves and steep grades. Some sites appeared level, others, including mine, had a significant slant. Escort led me to my site and helped me park; I was backed up flush against a steep hillside, making it impossible to get to the back of my motor home. Wi Fi worked well. Good breakfast available at the club room on weekends. We camped at Hot Springs National Park KOA in a Motorhome.

Lufkin KOA, Lufkin, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

A basic bare-bones park but fine for an overnight stay or if you need to be in Lufkin. Easy access from Highway 59 on north side of town. Only amenity was a pool. Sites are a mix of pull-throughs and back-ins, long and relatively level concrete with grass between sites and a well-worn picnic table. Utility hookups worked well but sewer was way at the back of the site. There is a modular building which contains a small laundry room and individual restrooms with shower, sink and tiolet. Most sites should be able to receive satellite and there is a good selection of cable channels. WiFi worked well. We camped at Lufkin KOA in a Motorhome.

JBSA Fort Sam Houston RV Park (Military FamCamp), Fort Sam Houston Army Post, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

The RV park itself is nice with long, level pull-through sites with decent grass space between sites and full hookups. Sites themselves are concrete with patio and picnic table. Grounds were well-maintained and grass was cut while I was there. Restrooms/showers were clean. As others have stated, the roads on the post are confusing and in poor condition with limited (and often missing) signage. I suggest studying Google maps or a similar site to plan your arrival. As recommended on the website, I called in advance and the person in the office was helpful in verifying my planned route. It is also a good idea to confirm ahead of time that that you have a reservation. When you make a reservation, they do not send a confirmation, do not give you a reservation number and do not take a deposit. I had no problem, but when a friend arrived a day later, the office had no record of his reservation. We camped at JBSA Fort Sam Houston RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Aloha Kitchen, just north of the post on Harry Wurzbach, is a little hole-in-the-wall place with great Hawaiian-style food. Very popular with troops from the base for lunch. Only open 11-2. For a nice upscale Mexican restaurant, try Paloma Blanca, 5800 Broadway.

Elko RV Park At Ryndon, Elko, Nevada

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Easy access from I-80. Wide interior sites make access easy within the park. Most sites are pull-throughs. Hookups worked fine, no cable, internet was very fast. Many sites are in the open but many others have trees which may hinder satellite reception. Roads and sites are gravel and fine grit so it can be dusty. Lot of long-term residents and a lot of "stuff" around the park (both residents and the park itself), so the place is not very scenic. But everyone we met was friendly and staff was very helpful. There is a tavern adjacent to the office which is open daily from 3 to 10. No pool, playground or much else in the way of amenities. Not much in the area around the park but it is only 15 minutes to downtown Elko on I-80. I would stay here again. We camped at Elko RV Park At Ryndon in a Motorhome.

Rock Springs / Green River KOA, Rock Springs, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park with easy access from I-80. We stayed three nights, most guests seem to be overnighters. There are a variety of spaces, mostly pull-throughs, for different size rigs. Sites are dirt/gravel and level; most are side-by-side so you will share your patio space with your neighbor. There are a few deluxe patio sites which are wider and have paved patios and privacy fences on both sides. Wide roads make for easy access. There is a large long-term section with back-in sites behind the main part; it is almost like a separate park. Staff was friendly and efficient and provided escort to site. Hookups worked fine. Cable TV with 33 channels, although about half a dozen didn't come in. No large trees, so satellite reception should be available most anywhere. We camped at Rock Springs / Green River KOA in a Motorhome.

Pechanga RV Resort & Casino, Temecula, California

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park. Sites are concrete, level with slight slant for drainage, and sufficiently long for most-sized rigs. Good grass space between sites. Nicely maintained landscaping. WiFi worked well. Cable TV with 25 channels (but no ESPN). Several days before our scheduled arrival, we received an e-mail with directions on how to access the park during the on-going construction. Our one complaint is the grossly inadequate laundry room for a park of this size. Room is very small; five washers (two of which are inoperative), six washers (one inoperative). Folding table is minuscule and when someone uses it access to several of the machines is blocked. We were told the laundry facility will be better when the park expansion is completed. We camped at Pechanga RV Resort & Casino in a Motorhome.

Coachland RV Park, Truckee, California

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice, heavily treed park a little over a mile from historic downtown Truckee. All spaces are pull-throughs; streets are wide and access to sites is easy. You park on asphalt and there is an asphalt pad for a picnic table; remainder of site is grass or gravel. Our site, like many others, had a downhill slope but our jacks were able to get us level. All sites are side-by-side; you will have a close, sometimes very close, neighbor on your driver side and share open space on your patio side. In the sites used for short-termers, which we were, the patio space is not real wide, but big enough for a few days. The sites used by seasonals, of which there are many, had huge spaces between the adjacent RVs with large trees and either grass, gravel or natural landscaping. I can see why people would want to stay here for the summer. There are two self-contained unisex restroom units in the laundry building and two more in a modular facility elsewhere in the park. The trees will prevent most sites from getting satellite access but the park cable system had about 100 channels. Wi Fi worked well the few times we used it. We camped at Coachland RV Park in a Motorhome.

Mesa Spirit RV Resort (55+ park), Mesa, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed at this park several times over the past 10 years, including two winters as snowbirds. Facilities are still in good shape and, as others have said, there are a lot of activities. It does seem that there are more management/staff problems since the change in ownership a few years ago. I made reservations two months in advance for sites for us and a friend. They asked the size of our rigs; they said they could not get us real close together but we would not be too far apart; they gave me the site numbers. When we arrived, their computer showed we had both been moved to different sites, very far apart, and neither one was long enough to accommodate our 38 and 40 foot rigs. The clerk blamed the central corporate reservation system. After about 45 minutes and the intervention of a supervisor, they did find us spaces that were large enough. Bad part was we were along one of the streets bordering the part, where there is very loud traffic noise. The lady checking in ahead of us had a similar problem, re-assigned far from the group she was with. The clerk told her there are certain things you need to say so the reservation is coded in the computer so that the site will not be changed. She also said it is better to call the park direct rather than the central number. Of course, that is what I had done, and we still had a problem. We camped at Mesa Spirit RV Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Don Laughlin's Riverside Resort RV Park, Laughlin, Nevada

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very large park with sites on several levels, or tiers. The higher levels looked like they might be nicer than the lowest level where we were. Sites are gravel/sand with no grass or trees. Only 30 amp power was available in this area. The hookups are side-by-side, with the spaces being alternately back-in or pull-in. If both sides of the site are being used, you will have very close neighbors. We arrived late in the evening and were assigned a site that was very unlevel with another coach on our driver side and a storage building so close on our patio side that we did not have room to put out a chair, much less our awning. Several times during the day park employees were in and out of the building to pick up supplies. We complained to the office and were moved to a better site across the street. Fortunately, there was no one in the neighboring sites during the rest of our stay. Wi Fi is provided for a charge by an outside provider. The sites in our area had cable, but only one hookup at each side-by-side utility post, so if your neighbor gets it first, you are out of luck. We camped at Don Laughlin's Riverside Resort RV Park in a Motorhome.

Golden Village Palms RV Resort , Hemet, California

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is the daily average based on a weekly special of $186. Very nice, well-maintained park mostly populated by winter snowbirds. Most sites are back-ins, fairly wide level gravel with concrete patio and asphalt spot to park the car. There are a couple of rows of long pull-throughs that appear to be used for short-termers and rallies. Hookups worked well, including cable and wi-fi. Everything well-maintained. Beautiful central recreation area with multiple pools and spas, very nice clubhouse, fitness center and laundry. Although the park is great, there is not a lot to do in Hemet. We camped at Golden Village Palms RV Resort in a Motorhome.

The MotorCoach Resort, Chandler, Arizona

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

This is a new park opening to the public September 1, 2016. We were part of a group invited to stay here for two nights to ensure everything was working before the public opening. Access is easy off the I-10 freeway. All sites are good size, level concrete with full hookups with 50A power. Sites are pull-in, back-out, so the park accommodates only motorhomes, no towables. There is a central "gathering area" with trees and picnic tables. There is a small laundry room and a restroom building containing three individual rooms with toilet, sink and shower. There is no cable, but all Phoenix area TV stations can be received over-the-air and there are no trees to block satellite reception. Wi Fi worked well during our stay. There is no office at the park. If you have advance reservations, your site information will be left at a check-in board at the entrance. An office is located at the nearby RV SuperStorage facility. RV park guests can also get propane and use the wash facility at the storage lot. There is also a Love's Truck Stop just outside the park. We camped at The MotorCoach Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

On the opposite side of I-10 from the park is the Wild Horse Pass complex with many attractions, including a hotel/casino with great restaurants, Rawhide western town, golf course, motorsports park and Phoenix Premium Outlets.

Cedar Creek RV Park, Montrose, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

A nice park, friendly staff; right in town and close to everything in Montrose, but quiet at night. Lots of trees provide good shade but may interfere with satellite reception. Mostly pull-through sites but some back-ins. Level gravel sites with lots of grass in the park. Cable TV but not many channels and some of them did not work or had poor reception. We never were able to connect to the Wi Fi. Not much in the way of amenities except for a mini gold course and playground. Only about 20 minutes to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Ridgway State Park, Ridgway, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

I can see why people like this state park, but our experience wasn't the best. We were in the Pa-Co-Chu-Puk campground, where there are full hookups (but only 30A power). I had made a reservation five months in advance, and specifically selected a north-facing site, so we would have afternoon shade on our patio. When we arrived at the park, there was a seasonal employee in the reserved site. I contacted a campground host, who said we had been assigned a site across the road. Of course, this site was south-facing, so we had hot sun on our patio side. Sometimes when this happens we will sit on the driver's side, but on this side there were large, thick bushes that came right to the side of our coach. It also didn't help that this site was right next to the paved path to the other side of the loop, where kids rode their scooters all day. We camped at Ridgway State Park in a Motorhome.
