US Forest Service - Nason Creek Campground, Leavenworth, Washington
Date of Stay:
September, 2017 -
$23.00
Overall Rating:
The posted 50% discount for Interagency passholders is not applicable here because the campground is run by Thousand Trails. Paved, level pull thru (pullout from road through CG) sites in the forest. Some pruning is due. A small creek is running right by the campground. The road is close and traffic is quite noticeable. Water spigots throughout the campground and several outhouses too. We camped at US Forest Service - Nason Creek Campground in a Truck Camper.

Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area-Kettle Falls, Kettle Falls, Washington
Date of Stay:
September, 2017 -
$9.00
Overall Rating:
Nice campground above Roosevelt Lake with nice view. Far enough from the highway to get a good nights sleep. Sites are dirt/gravel and mostly level. Privacy is lacking as there are only a few trees on the entire campground. Dump station on the way in/out. Rate is after 50% Interagency Pass discount. We camped at Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area-Kettle Falls in a Truck Camper.

Heyburn State Park - Benewah Campground, Plummer, Idaho
Date of Stay:
September, 2017 -
$36.00
Overall Rating:
Rate is for a paved and level pull thru FHU site for a non Idaho resident. Rates vary widely on this CG for amenities and residence. 5$ Vehicle entrance fee is mandatory for the first night and included in the posted rate. Some privacy, but sites are rather close to each other. Hookups in good order, only the sewer towards the front is a somewhat unusual location. Quiet at night. Washrooms seemed to be recently renovated. Very bumpy road (one mile) on the way in/out. We camped at Heyburn State Park - Benewah Campground in a Truck Camper.

Polson / Flathead Lake KOA, Polson, Montana
Date of Stay:
September, 2017 -
$53.00
Overall Rating:
We desperately needed to get off the road which is the only reason why we ended up in a KOA campground once again. Like most of them this one is overpriced. Unlevel site without any privacy. Hookups are ok. Rate is after a 5$ discount the manager threw in. Not enough to convince us to ever come back. We camped at Polson / Flathead Lake KOA in a Truck Camper.

Townsite Campground (Parks Canada), Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta
Date of Stay:
September, 2017 -
$49.00
Overall Rating:
Packed to the last site (probably pretty common during summer season) it was surprisingly quiet. Either all campers behaved well or the rangers enforced the quiet time. Sites are level and mostly in the open. Little to no privacy here. Hookups in good order. Just the sewer intake was a bit off the usual course - a hole in the middle of the site, covered by a rock. Unfortunately one road and remaining accessible trails were closed due to wildfires so we need to and will come back to explore more of this beautiful NP. We camped at Townsite Campground (Parks Canada) in a Truck Camper.

George Lane Memorial Park and Campground, High River, Alberta
Date of Stay:
September, 2017 -
$33.00
Overall Rating:
Surprisingly quiet for a packed CG over a long weekend. Some leveling was necessary and the hookups were on the wrong side. Really awkward location. I wonder if the designer has ever seen a RV in person. Some privacy but you will be aware of your neighbors activities. Free WiFi at the office, dump on the way out. Overall a very good location to stay and explore Calgary. Super friendly staff. Farmers market just around the corner. Dump on the way in/out. We camped at George Lane Memorial Park and Campground in a Truck Camper.

St. Mary Campground (NPS Campground), Glacier National Park, Montana
Date of Stay:
August, 2017 -
$23.00
Overall Rating:
Lucky to get an opening because tent campers are no longer allowed due to bear activity. Nice setting close to the entrance of the park. Unlevel sites but good privacy. Generators are confined to one loop so others can go without the noise and fumes. We liked that policy and the quietness. We'll be back. We camped at St. Mary Campground (NPS Campground) in a Truck Camper.

Canyon Creek Campground--Colville National Forest (NFS), Kettle Falls, Washington
Date of Stay:
August, 2017 -
$3.00
Overall Rating:
This forest campground has 12 sites in total. Most are unlevel but they are well spaced and offer a lot of privacy. Pit toilets are available. Very quiet at night. Picnic table and fire pit on site. Great value for money. We'll stay again when on the way to Winthrop (25 miles down the Northern Cascades Hwy). We camped at Canyon Creek Campground--Colville National Forest (NFS) in a Truck Camper.

Sedro-Woolley Riverfront Park, Sedro Woolley, Washington
Date of Stay:
August, 2017 -
$10.00
Overall Rating:
A nice municipal campground hidden in the outskirts of Sedro-Wooley. We used one of the 10 tent sites (also 20 hookup sites available). The park is kind of an open field, some trees, but not a lot of privacy. The sites are gravel and grass. A bit unlevel but nothing major. Picnic table on site but no fire ring. Quiet area. We came back on our return and liked it again. We camped at Sedro-Woolley Riverfront Park in a Truck Camper.

Overall Rating:
I haven't counted how many times we have stayed up here. But coming back this year wasn't the last time for sure. Everything we stated in previous reviews is still true. Camp for free up to three nights and enjoy the views and hiking options Strathcona PP has to offer in this area. We camped at Mount Washington Alpine Lodge in a Truck Camper.

Elk Falls Provincial Park, Campbell River, British Columbia
Date of Stay:
August, 2017 -
$22.00
Overall Rating:
This is the perfect base for a fly fishing trip on Vancouver Island. Expect all campgrounds to be full when the salmons are in. Lots of large sites in this campground. All pretty level and with good privacy. Water sources all over the place. Lots of tent campers here but bigger rigs will find a place as well (we stayed her before with a 51' rig). Except for a few sites on the river the sites are forested but not too dark. Traffic noise from the highway dies down at night. Overall a well laid out and maintained Provincial Park Campground offering good value for money (except 11$ for a second vehicle is outrageous). Dump station in the park, 5$ (coins needed). We'll be back in September (going after some Coho ...) We camped at Elk Falls Provincial Park in a Truck Camper.
Campbell River has a lot to offer. Suspension bridge at Elk Falls, Salmon museum, fly fishing options, Historic Mail flight (Corilair, located on the Spit), Whale watching or Bear watching tours - and the list is going on ...

Lakeview Park Campsite, Lake Cowichan, British Columbia
Date of Stay:
June, 2017 -
$33.00
Overall Rating:
Stayed again and most of the statements of our previous review are still true. Except the washroom are renovated now and the forest trail is closed for unknown reasons. During shoulder season this campground is a hidden gem. During summer holidays the picture might be different. We camped at Lakeview Park Campsite in a Truck Camper.

Pacific Rim National Park, Green Point Campground, Tofino, British Columbia
Date of Stay:
May, 2017 -
$32.00
Overall Rating:
Rate is in CAD without NP-fee (free in 2017). This is an extremely popular campground in the Tofino area. We stayed just a few days after the campground opened for the season and it was already packed to the last site. Don't try to come here without a reservation in June to September! Sites are easy to level (if needed at all) but most are pretty dark, right in the woods. If you book an oceanfront site that doesn't mean "view". Only a handful sites actually offer some view. However, the easy access to Long Beach is the treat here. Also the washrooms got an update and are very modern and sparkling clean now. Sites are well spaced and offer very good to excellent privacy. For bigger rigs it's a challenge. This campground is meant for units up to 30'. I saw one 30' trailer parked and I think the driver of the rig is a real artist in backing in! The wood we purchased for a campfire wasn't worth the money. Wet to the point of being useless. This will probably change during the summer season. Dump station on the way out. Expect lineups. We will come back but only in shoulder season. We camped at Pacific Rim National Park, Green Point Campground in a Truck Camper.
Enjoy the endless stroll on Long Beach. If you head left from Green Point you will need to cross some shallow water after a mile even when the tide is low. Take off your shoes and feel nature even closer. Head right and you can walk for miles even past Incinerator Rock to Schooner Cove (which is beautiful and has it's own access by a one kilometer forest trail from a parking lot on the highway).

Kalaloch Campground (NPS Campground), Olympic National Park, Washington
Date of Stay:
September, 2016 -
$11.00
Overall Rating:
Rate is after 50% discount for Interagency pass. Campground is right on the bluff with beach access. But the sites are mostly hidden under trees. Rather small sites. And unlevel despite being paved. Shrubbery between sites makes for good privacy. Constant background noise from the ocean surf. But that's natural, so it's not noise.
Probably very busy during the summer season but we will come back for an overnighter when travelling in the area. We
camped at Kalaloch Campground (NPS Campground) in a Truck Camper.

Fort Stevens State Park, Hammond, Oregon
Date of Stay:
September, 2016 -
$30.00
Overall Rating:
Even in late September this campground was almost booked out. All sites are paved with water/electric, some have even sewer. Dump on the way in/out. Very quiet place but little privacy since the sites are close together. The park stretches a few miles and riding a bike or driving to the different points of interest takes some time. The beach is veeery long. This time it was just an overnighter, but we'll be back to enjoy all the park has to offer. We camped at Fort Stevens State Park in a Truck Camper.
