Silver Lake Provincial Park, Hope, British Columbia

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

All we stated in our review from July 2014 is still true, except the rate has gone up to 18$ per night.
A very nice place to stay and well worth the detour from Hope. We camped at Silver Lake Provincial Park in a Truck Camper.

Champoeg State Heritage Area, Newberg, Oregon

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Another hidden gem just a few miles off the interstate. Take the seven miles out and you will be rewarded with a very quiet and nice park. Some trails around the park and along the Willamette River.

Sites are paved and level, hookups in excellent shape. In the shoulder season only the loop in the back is open. Only a few trees there, while the other loop is completely shaded. Dump station on the way in/out.

we have earmarked this place for future stops when travelling the I-5. We camped at Champoeg State Heritage Area in a Fifth Wheel.

Cal Expo RV Park, Sacramento, California

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Last years rate was 35$, now it's 40$. Now they have stretched it too far. A safe place to park on a gravel lot, that's it. Good hookups and pretty quiet. The American River Bikepath runs along the park, which is a nice opportunity for a walk or a ride.

Next time we will only consider this place for an overnighter or try another location when in the area. We camped at Cal Expo RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Jordan River Regional Park, Jordan River, British Columbia

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

Jordan River Regional Park is closed for overnight camping for the time being. However, day use is still allowed. Very nice spot for a lunch break. Right on the beach, gorgeous views of the Olympic Mountains.

If you need a spot for the night, there is French Beach (year round) a few kms down the road towards Sooke and China Beach (mid May - mid September) a few kms down the road towards Port Renfrew. We camped at Jordan River Regional Park in a Truck Camper.

Emigrant Lake - The Point RV Park, Ashland, Oregon

Date of Stay: February, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

A five mile drive from the I-5 exit will earn you a very quiet place for the night. All sites have nice views over the lake. However, the water level is very low. There is a campground halfway in, this RV Park is at the very end of the road. Paved sites, mostly back in. There was only one fellow camper staying, so we could pick one of the few pull through sites. All hookups in excellent shape and where you need them. Friendly camphost. Verizon MiFi worked well. We did not use the restrooms. This is one of our preferred places to stay when traveling south or back. We camped at Emigrant Lake - The Point RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Pleasant RV Park, Bothell, Washington

Date of Stay: February, 2015 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed just for one night on our way home. Would not have expected to find such a nice and quiet park so close to the highway. Wonderful setting with lots of greenery. Paved pull-thru site with excellent hookups. Just a little tight. There was a lot of rain the days before we arrived and it was hard to avoid the mud puddles when stepping out of the trailer. Site provided little to no privacy which wasn't a concern for an overnighter. We'll be back. We camped at Lake Pleasant RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Calistoga RV and Campground, Calistoga, California

Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is Passport America (Sun thru Thu) for W/E pull thru site. The discount makes this one unbeatable value for Napa Valley.

This is a gravel field with a few trees. Be careful when pulling into your site. Some poles where you don't want to have them. Sites are level and hookups in good order. Sites are very close to each other. No fire ring, no picnic table, no privacy. Pretty quiet at night. Only a short walk to the grocery store and restaurants on the quaint main street.

We will be back, but only when the PA-rate is available and only during shoulder season. We can't imagine staying here, when the park is full. We camped at Calistoga RV and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Golden Rule RV Park, Willits, California

Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

It is about 3 miles downhill from the highway turnoff, but still relatively close to the highway. There is some road noise but earplugs where not needed. When you check in for only a night or two you will probably be assigned one of the pull-thru sites right beside the pool. Take the short walk to the lower level where the sites are and have a look first. Right beside the pool there is some sort of power transformer which is buzzing permanently. We rather choose a back-in site at the very end which provided good privacy. Sites are gravel with some grass in between and a few trees. Hookups were ok. Wifi is available in the laundry room only. Our Verizon MiFi didn't work here. Very friendly staff. For supermarkets and/or gas stations you have to drive five miles back to Willits. If you want to see the Seabiscuit Statue, you have to walk or drive to the adjacent farm about a mile away. We'll stay here again when travelling on 101. We camped at Golden Rule RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Sounds of the Sea RV Park, Trinidad, California

Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here to explore Patrick's Point State Park, where our rig wouldn't fit. PPSP is worth a full day of hiking and hanging out.

We had a back in site with lots of room to maneuver. Power didn't work when we plugged in, but the owner fixed the problem within a few minutes. Everything else worked fine. Little privacy on all sites. You hear the surf and the sea lions, hence the name. There is a well equipped exercise room and you can book a private trainer if you want. Sounds of the Sea is a small RV park with reasonable prices, therefore we'll stay again when in the area. We camped at Sounds of the Sea RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Cape Blanco State Park, Port Orford, Oregon

Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

What a gem! Five miles off the 101 Cape Blanco is well worth the detour. The campground is located in the woods, most sites are heavily treed, so no ocean views. But the Cape with the lighthouse is only a 20 minute stroll on a very nice trail along the coastline. More trails within the park.

The sites are well spaced and mostly surrounded by shrubs and greenery. Excellent privacy. Super quiet at night. Our site was level and provided good hookups. I think there were about a dozen sites that would accommodate our 34' fifth wheel and allow maneuvering. We had Verizon reception that was excellent at times but almost dropped out for hours in the evening.

A trail leads down to the beach where you can walk all the way back to the Cape and up to the parking lot there.

We will be back and enjoy a few days here. We camped at Cape Blanco State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Beverly Beach State Park, Newport, Oregon

Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

A wonderful state park right off the 101, but no road noise inside the park. Lots of sites nestled in the woods well away from the Hwy. Some sites looked like a bit tricky to maneuver (we tow a 34' 5er) but plenty of sites with easy access. All sites are well spaced and surrounded by some shrubbery. Good privacy. Sites are dirt and some levelling equipment might be needed. Hookups in good order. No WiFi of course, but Verizon worked well. Beach access right from the campground on a trail under a Hwy 101 bridge. However, there is no beach when the tide is high. Short drive to Newport with all stores you might need. Whenever travelling the Oregon Coast we will stay here again. We camped at Beverly Beach State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Cannon Beach RV Resort, Cannon Beach, Oregon

Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Right off the Hwy across from Cannon Beach. Surprisingly quiet at night, no road noise. A distant roar from the surf at Cannon Beach, but that is not considered noise - is it?

Sites are paved, mostly back in. Some pull thrus available. All full hookup. Lots of trees make for shady sites. Space between sites is just OK, but no greenery of any sort to provide some privacy. It's a 20-30 minute walk to the beach with the Haystack Rock. Our second stay here and we will be back again. We camped at Cannon Beach RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Little Creek Casino and Resort, Shelton, Washington

Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

A good place for a stopover night. Clean paved pull thru sites. Level and good hookups. Only some grass between sites. Surprisingly little noise from 101. But the other road had logging truck noise as of 5 a.m. since there is a wood processing facility nearby. The whole place looks well maintained and definitely is a good option for an overnighter when travelling. We camped at Little Creek Casino and Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Gilgal Oasis RV Park, Sequim, Washington

Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is Passport America (Sun-Thur) for a paved pull-thru full hookup site. What else can you ask for? Very friendly staff accompanied us to the site and helped us getting parked. Very particular about not touching the grass when maneuvering. Site was level and hookups in good order. Road noise from 101 was noticeable as expected. Nothing between sites to provide some privacy. Best part was the QFC store right across the street, where we could get groceries and fill up the truck. Very convenient. We will be back for overnight stops but not for longer stays. We camped at Gilgal Oasis RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lakeview Park Campsite, Lake Cowichan, British Columbia

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

This municipal campground is just outside Lake Cowichan. About 1 km gravel road off the paved road to Port Renfrew. A walk to the grocery store will take about 30 minutes. The posted rate is off-season for a dry RV site, and our rating reflects value for money. We stayed way after Labor Day during the week and had the park all to ourselves. During the season this place is busy and locals told us it's a favorite place for parties at the beach. No direct beach access, but a short trail leads there and to a floating dock. The trail continues through the forest for a nice hike along the shore of the lake. One third of the sites have power and water, the rest is dry camping. Some water spigots there. Our site was level and most sites looked the same. You can look up the site's size on the website. No dump on site, but there is one in town beside the firefighter building (by donation). The Wi-Fi is available at the office and the sites around it. Washrooms are older but clean except for the spiders under the roof. Very quiet at night. Some traffic noise from across the lake in the morning. We will stay again, but avoid the busy season and the weekends altogether. We camped at Lakeview Park Campsite in a Truck Camper.
