Sugar Mill RV Park, Thomasville, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Our rate was Good Sam. This park has 2 areas, one for permanent & long term stays then one for the traveler. Shady sites are grass/dirt, pretty spacious with a very nice picnic table. Road was dirt & crushed rock. Hookups were good and we got several OTA TV stations. Internet was down during our stay. The landscaping is mature & lovely. Very dated restrooms are individual rooms & relatively clean for their age. We were invited to attend the Thursday music jam session (which we went to) & dinner following (which we skipped), and it was delightful! The staff was very friendly. Access is very easy from Highway 19. We would return. We camped at Sugar Mill RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Nearby downtown Thomasville is a delightful walk-around area. Be sure to stop at the visitor's center as they are super helpful. We had a delicious lunch at Jonah's Fish Grits. There's a Super Walmart in town, and a Murphy's gas with diesel.

Auburn RV Park at Leisure Time Campground, Auburn, Alabama

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is an older, small, family owned, RV park in a hilly area of Auburn. Steep road is paved, but sites are river rock. Sites are full-hook-up (w, s, e, c), but cable had some "Direct TV" problems so we went with antenna & got several channels. Dated bathrooms are relatively clean, as is the laundry room ($1.75 wash/$1.75 dry). Lots of mature trees & very nice picnic tables. Sites could use some TLC for sure, but location is good to visit Auburn or Tuskegee. Verizon worked well. Easy access from interstate, but the sign to campground is very hard to see & says Leisure Time campground. Location is good if you're there for a softball game. It was pricey for a park without a pool, dog walk or playground. We camped at Auburn RV Park at Leisure Time Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Cotton Hill COE, Fort Gaines, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

Our rate was with the senior National Parks Pass & was for a w/e 50 amp plus sewer site. Many sites have a lake or river view & some have a pretty steep grade. Many sites, ours included had concrete pads, and some sites were gravel. Older bathrooms were few & far between, but very clean. Campground road is paved. This campground is hilly and heavily forested. Beware, alligators are in the water, but lots of people are fishing & boating. You can pull your boat onto the shore at many sites. We loved this campground & will return. We camped at Cotton Hill COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Eastbank COE, Bainbridge, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Our rate was with the senior National Parks Pass. We moved to site C128 from A03 as a rainstorm flooded our site. Campground roads are paved and C loop has mostly paved sites (A loop has none). We backed up to Lake Seminole & it was beautiful. Electric & water were good (no sewer). We got many OTA TV stations and Verizon worked well. A & C loops have waterfront sites, but B loop does not. B loop is closest to both bathhouses, which are older but very clean. Bring ant treatment for any part of your rig that touches the ground & keep hoses & cords off the ground. We loved it here & would return. We camped at Eastbank COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

If you go to Bainbridge, which is about 30 miles away, there is a Super Walmart with diesel. Also in Bainbridge is a great restaurant with limited hours called Bonnie Blue House. Diverse menu & so worth a visit! In Chatahoochee, a wonderful restaurant named Rutabaga's is a must! Pay attention to the days of the week & hours they are open. Reservations are a must for evenings!

Suwannee River Rendezvous, Mayo, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Our rate was passport America. Dirt road access is bumping and dusty/muddy before getting to the campground. 2 large Confederate flags flying at 2 separate individuals campsites on the way in were very off-putting. The campground personnel we encountered were very pleasant & helpful. Our gravel site was a nice very long pull-through with full-hook-up (water, 50 amp, sewer, cable). There was a lovely pool and clean individual shower/restrooms. Many activities were available (some with a charge) & there was a snack shack that prepared breakfast, burgers, etc. for a charge. It's a good hike to the lodge to register, but go to your site first, as instructed, then go to register. The lodge is not an area you want to drive your rig into. We would go again, but would like to avoid controversial flag flying issues. We camped at Suwannee River Rendezvous in a Fifth Wheel.

Pecan Park RV Resort, Jacksonville, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Our rate was a summer week-night special. Access was simple from I-95. We changed our site as the concrete was pretty unlevel. Roads were paved, hookups were good & the site was long. Restrooms were refurbished and the pool looked inviting. The park is in a direct flight path of an international airport and a naval air station, so free earplugs were offered at the office. There's some construction immediately next door & there is a weekend flea market next door too. We would stay again for an overnight. We camped at Pecan Park RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort & Marina, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $74.00
Overall Rating:

Our rate was if paid by cash/check and staying 4+ nights. You arrive & are given a golf cart to pick out your site, then come back to the office to book it. Check in is actually at 10AM, but check out is not until noon. Roads are paved and sites are individually owned concrete pads that vary in size and amenities. All have full hook-ups & some have patio sets, grills, picnic tables, etc. Bathrooms were spotless. 2 pools, one was heated with a Jacuzzi nearby. Beautiful pier at the river to watch the sunset, but bug repellent would be needed near the water. It was not buggy at our site. There are activities on-site to purchase like kayaks, paddle boards, jet skis. Although expensive, we really liked it here. Take extra care when leaving Jenkins Rd onto 278 as traffic really flies through that area. We camped at Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

Coastal Georgia RV Resort, Brunswick, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park & short drive from the I-95. Paved roads with sites lined up next to each other & a medium height hedge between each site. Every site has a concrete pad & full hook up (w, s, e, c) plus a separate water tower to use to wash your unit. Most sites are very long pull through so toads can stay connected. Our site was a back up with a small lake behind us. Restrooms were clean. They are expanding the park so there was construction. You can hear some highway noise at night but it's not obnoxious. Easy drives to Jekyll Island and St. Simons. Some bugs as it is on a small lake. Our rate was Good Sam. We camped at Coastal Georgia RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Fort De Soto Campground, Tierra Verde, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

All roads and sites are packed sandy dirt. Roads are pretty winding and narrow with intruding vegetation so extreme caution is best. We stayed in area 3, site 170, which has electric and water, no sewer, no pets. Our beautiful site was on the water, but beware that some sites on the water have heavy mangroves so water view is limited. Restrooms and showers were older but spotless. Volunteers keep the campground in great shape. The fort and the beach are a must see. You'll have to drive or bike as it's too far to walk. We camped at Fort De Soto Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Jones Station RV Park, Mebane, North Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This lovely park is well kept with very friendly, helpful owners. We just needed a site for one night & were put in the overflow space, which we were very grateful for. Our hookups were good. Roads & our site were gravel. Restrooms were very clean. The grounds are meticulously kept. We had to work a bit to get level, and some sites might be more level than others. The park is quiet in a lovely country setting, and we would return. We camped at Jones Station RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground, Swannanoa, North Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $66.00
Overall Rating:

This is our favorite campground. We love the top tier, deck sites at the top of a steep but doable drive. Everything is super clean & sites are policed as soon as a camper pulls out. Great hookups, cable & WIFI. We had a truck problem & they worked very hard to accommodate us while we were waiting for the repair completion. Great location near the Blue Ridge Parkway & Asheville, but you feel very much apart from the activity. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Travel Trailer.

First Landing State Park, Virginia Beach, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Water & electric hookups were good, but there is no sewer. Narrow interior roads are paved, reservable sites are not. Our site was somewhat soft sand and not the best for parking our rig. There were lots of sand spurs, and even with a rug, we constantly tracked sand & spurs inside. There are boardwalks over the dunes in a few spots that take you to a beautiful beach. The people in the office were super friendly & helpful. We received several OTA TV stations. You cannot see the water from your sites. I would not recommend this campground for big rigs and do recommend staying away from the boggy area in the middle of the campground. Restrooms & showers were very dated, but clean with paint peeling. This was pretty expensive for a state park & we would try somewhere else next time. We camped at First Landing State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Cape Henlopen State Park, Lewes, Delaware

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice state park with paved interior roads & paved unit pads. Pay close attention to the site you book as some site pads are very short. No sewer is available. There are multiple friendly camp hosts keeping things cleaned up. Restrooms/showers are individual rooms. This is a very sandy campground. There are many biking trails. The fort was closed during our visit. There is a small campstore. Most people would need to bike or go by car to the beach. Our hookups were good. We received many OTA TV stations & our Verizon hotspot worked well. We would stay again. We camped at Cape Henlopen State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Seashore Campsites & RV Resort, Cape May, New Jersey

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice but very busy campground near Cape May & Wildwood. Our road was paved, as was our site with a concrete pad for the picnic table. The restroom/showers near us were dated but clean. You have to pay to shower. The laundry was clean, but expensive ($2.75 wash, $3.50 dry). Our power pole repeatedly tripped our surge protector. Disturbing to note that a prior review states in July the power issue was reported to the park, and now in Sept. it has not been resolved. The park acknowledged reports from others. Cable & Wifi worked well. Kids in golf carts overwhelmed the park on the weekend. We would stay again if the power issue is resolved. We camped at Seashore Campsites & RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Surf & Stream Campground, Toms River, New Jersey

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

The site was long & level enough so we did not have to unhook our TT. The Wifi worked well & we appreciated the $23/nite Passport America. But the park is more a trailer park with permanent, very old, unkempt trailers filling most spots. Old furniture, mattresses, heaps of rubbish & debris at many sites. Sewer hookups were open. We did not feel safe. We hooked up the electric & stayed inside for the night. We had difficulty getting out in the morning due to cars, boats, & work vehicles parked in the roadways. We would not return. We camped at Surf & Stream Campground in a Travel Trailer.
