Oasis RV Resort, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2019 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice and large campground right off of I-40 just west of downtown. Concrete pads are level with a patio and nice picnic table. Utilities worked well. Driveways are asphalt and wide enough to maneuver. A few trees but no real shade to speak of. Nice campground but not sure why the owners consider this a 'resort'. Slightly overpriced for the amenities. We camped at Oasis RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Cadillac Ranch is within 1/2 mile. Jack Sizemore's RV Museum is a must-see and very worth the short drive. Big Texas Steakhouse also worth the stop.

American RV Resort, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: November, 2019 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice campground right off of I-40 just west of downtown. We had stayed here previously for the Balloon Fiesta and liked the location of the park which is now gated. Concrete pads are not totally level and we noted most campers using blocks to level. Utilities worked well. One concern was at check-in where the office staff tried to charge me more than the contracted rate I had on the written confirmation and which did not contain any written provision to allow the park to increase rates. I was told, even though the confirmation was on the park's letterhead, that advance reservations are handled be a third-party. After a brief conversation and discussions on contract law, I received the rate I had on the confirmation. We camped at American RV Resort in a Motorhome.

OK RV Park, Holbrook, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

As the name itself implies, it is an OK RV park. It is as you might expect for being in a desert area of Arizona with some small trees over a gravel lot. Surprisingly, the concrete pads are between sites with gravel for the RV pad. Utilities well placed and every other site alternates with and east/west orientation. Sites are close together but very long so you are at one end and your immediate neighbors are at the other so you are never side-to-side with each other. To accommodate this set-up there are 2 0r 3 power boxes between sites, sufficient water connections and ten (yes 10!) sewer connections. Good for an overnight stay which appear most of the campers were there for. We camped at OK RV Park in a Motorhome.

Trailer Village RV Park (Concessionnaire Operated), Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

It's hard to beat the convenience of being within this great National Park and on the free shuttle bus line. The park itself is OK. Utilities well placed and worked as expected.. It is amazing to see the mule deer and elk roaming the campground looking for water. Some tight turns and many of the trees need to be trimmed as we scrapped on several trees. We had to back out of our pull through site due to a tree towards the front of our site. We camped at Trailer Village RV Park (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Ruby's Inn RV Park and Campground, Bryce Canyon, Utah

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

This is a large RV Park very close to the entrance of Bryce Canyon National Park. There are 2 sections to this RV park and we were in the back section where it is flat, with very wide gravel sites wide enough for both our motorhome and car and sufficiently long. Good room between sites with grass. Some trees but mostly out in the open. Utilities well placed and worked as expected. Interior roads easy to navigate. Did not use camp WiFi but both Verizon and Sprint signals were strong. We camped at Ruby's Inn RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Zion River Resort RV Park & Campground, Virgin, Utah

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

I rarely find myself awarding a "10"to a campground, but this RV Resort definitely stands out in all categories. Beautiful level sites with concrete pads surrounded by gravel and grass between each site. Pool & Hot Tub. Good room between sites and utilities in the right spots. Campground WiFi worked for non-streaming needs and both Verizon & Sprint signals good. It's clear the staff really cares when after a camper leaves the staff uses a broom to brush the gravel of the concrete pad and washes down the picnic tables. Very close to Zion National Park. We camped at Zion River Resort RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort, Las Vegas, Nevada

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $62.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very large RV Resort close to the Las Vegas Strip. Large office with store, restaurant and two beautiful resort-style pools. Easy to get to off of I-15. Rate reflects the weekly rate of pay for 6 nights and 7th is free. The front portion of the park has both pull-through sites and back-in sites with grass between sites and picnic tables. We noted that many of those sites were not very level. All of the site pads in park are concrete. In the back of the park where we were, the sites were more level, but no grass, no picnic tables and crushed rock between sites. Very 'desert-like'. Combination of back-in sites and 90' long 'double sites' where 2 RVs are assigned to one pad. Unfortunately, both utility pedestals are on the same side of the pad which creates problems if both RVs have to back in. The other design flaw is the entry arch at the front of the park. It's beautiful and 'makes a statement', but guests have to swing wide to line up to squeeze through the arch. The left wall of the entry arch has many scrapes for previous impacts. The week we were there we witnessed one 5th wheeler significantly scrap the side of their rig and needed help backing out. There needs to either be better signage or the arch should be redesigned. If we return to this area we would return to this park. We camped at Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort in a Motorhome.

San Diego Metro KOA, Chula Vista, California

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $76.00
Overall Rating:

A nice KOA close to San Diego tourist sites with lots of activities for kids, large pool, bounce cushions, bike rentals, etc. This very large park is nicely laid out and sites all appear to be very level. Plenty of shade. Utilities well placed and worked as expected. Concrete pads long enough for our 43' coach and car. Friendly office staff can arrange for discounted tickets for local attractions. Only downside is the typically high KOA price. We camped at San Diego Metro KOA in a Motorhome.

Orangeland RV Park, Orange, California

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice RV park on the border of Orange and Anaheim and easy to get to from I-5. Nicely landscaped with utilities appropriately placed and a very friendly staff. Concrete site pad bordered by grass & trees. Beautiful pool, putting green and shuffleboard. Park has many citrus trees from which guests are encouraged to pick what they want. Did not use park WiFi but Sprint & Verizon signals both strong. Within 2-3 blocks from Honda Center where the Anaheim Ducks Hockey Team plays, within a mile of where the Angels play, within 4-5 miles of Disneyland, 15 minutes from Nixon's Library, but 1-2 hours from Downtown LA, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, etc. depending on traffic. We camped at Orangeland RV Park in a Motorhome.

High Sierra RV & Campground, Oakhurst, California

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small older park which is 16 miles from the south entrance to Yosemite National Park. The best feature of this park is its large cable TV channel line-up, but beyond that don't expect much. Prior reviews pretty accurate. There are 4 possible entrances to this park, 3 of which should be avoided at all cost by larger RVs. GPSs will route you on one of these 3 routes. On the route we chose the angle getting onto the side-street was so steep we scrapped the bottom of our tow bar on the pavement. One road gets you to the office facing the wrong direction so after check-in you have to turn around to get to your site. There should be signs directing RVers away from these 3 entrances. The directions on the park's website and their reservation confirmation email will guide you on the best route into the park and even though this road is torn up (cones mark the potholes), it is best to heed those directions. The mobile home and long term RVers are in a separate section away from the short term. There is only one pull-through for larger rigs but upon leaving this site the driveway heads towards a dead-end with no room to turn around so you have to actually back out about 300 feet. The back-in sites are tight and are gravel over soft dirt and will accommodate all sizes of RVs. Fire rings here pose a concern as they are only 3-4 feet max from the RVs. Utilities well placed and worked as expected. Free WIFI was limited to ½ hr per day but you had to set up an account with Tengo Internet and not worth the aggravation. Most parks provide free unlimited WIFI at reasonable speeds. Full payment required at time of reservation which is also not normal for private parks. We camped at High Sierra RV & Campground in a Motorhome.

San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA, Petaluma, California

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $73.00
Overall Rating:

This is a large and well-maintained KOA park with easy access to Highway 101. It is a 40-mile drive to Downtown San Francisco, so the park name "San Francisco North" / Petaluma KOA is somewhat misleading. Park is a typical KOA with different levels of sites available and is more expensive than it should be. Staff is friendly and the KOA store is quite large. The site we had was a standard 50-amp pull-through level site with a picnic table and fire ring, but the grass between sites had all died and what was left was mostly dirt. Utilities well placed and worked well. Quiet area. Very large pool and other amenities available. Best thing was the firewood they sell is the absolute best burning firewood we have purchased anywhere. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Motorhome.

Sparks Marina RV Park, Sparks, Nevada

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful, large and extremely well-maintained park with easy access to I-80 and a short drive to downtown Reno. The park has wide asphalt driveways easy to navigate and the pull through sites are concrete, 100% level and plenty long enough for our 43-foot motorhome and car. Reasonable distance between sites which are nicely landscaped with artificial grass and a tree. New vinyl coated picnic tables with a metal plate on one end to accommodate a tabletop grill. Utilities well placed and worked as expected, including cable TV with about 40 channels. Verizon and Sprint signals were good and park WIFI worked well. Many amenities on site. This appears to be a campground thoughtfully designed by someone who knows what RVers need and want. We camped at Sparks Marina RV Park in a Motorhome.

Win-River Casino, Redding, California

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small area at the far end of the casino parking lot reserved specifically for RV overnight parking with a limit of 5 nights. RV sites are concrete pads with asphalt driveways. We were met at the driveway entrance of the casino and led back to the RV area by a shuttle driver who assisted us in parking and then drove us to the office to register. Staff all very friendly. The first night was a little noisy with people coming out of the concert and had parked near the RV area. Second night was very quiet except for an occasional train nearby but not enough to wake us up. Great rate. Utilities worked well. If in the area again we would stay here. We camped at Win-River Casino in a Motorhome.

Kamp Klamath RV Park, Klamath, California

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very small privately-owned park which is designed primarily for smaller RVs with a few sites for larger rigs. The smaller sites have a nice grass areas along each site, but the sites for larger RVs are basically dusty dirt/minimal gravel sites and the interior roads are the same with some low hanging branches which need to be trimmed. Our site was level but we noticed for the pull through on the other end, they had to use 4 rows of blocks on one side to level their 5th wheel. The road off of Hwy 101 leading to the park is paved but rough. Utilities worked well and the park staff was courteous. The sites are pretty much all in a clearing but the tall neighboring trees blocked satellite signals. Verizon and Sprint signals both were okay but the park WIFI never worked from our site. The best thing going for this park is the low Passport rate. If ever in the area again we will look for someplace else as there appears to be several other better options in the immediate area. We camped at Kamp Klamath RV Park in a Motorhome.

Crater Lake RV Park (AKA Prospect RV Park), Prospect, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small, pretty and heavily forested private RV park reasonably close to Crater Lake National Park. Although this park does not honor any type of club membership discount, the rates are more reasonable than most places and a good value. The office staff are absolutely great and very helpful pointing out local attractions and eating places. Interior roads and sites are paved asphalt and reasonably easy to navigate. More space between sites than most parks. Utilities worked as expected. The only negative is this park is in an area with almost no cell phone service for any carrier for voice, data or MIFI, so we had to use the WIFI calling feature on our Verizon phones. We were unable to use out satellite dish because of the trees and there is no cable TV, however, the park WIFI was the best we have experienced in any park. The park also provided free hotdogs with all the trimmings, S'mores and live music on the Saturday night we were there. In ever back in this area we would definitely stay here again. We camped at Crater Lake RV Park (AKA Prospect RV Park) in a Motorhome.
