Prairie Band Casino, Mayetta, Kansas

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This casino campground is located behind the Prairie Band Casino and just a couple of miles west of Hwy 75 on 150th Rd. If you get a Club Card from the casino prior to checking into the campground you $5.00 discount. If you don't care to get the card then follow the signs around to the rear of the casino and check in at the RV Park office (see hours on website). If closed you can check in at hotel. Entrance, exist and access roads to the RV park are paved and suitable for all RV sizes. There are 67 pull thru sites separated by grass. Picnic table at each site and full range of utilities including cable (fuzzy) and internet at each site. Several OTA TV channels. Some sites are shorter then others. No trees at the sites and satellite service is uninterrupted. There is a service station on the casino property for easy access to diesel or gasoline. Prices are cheaper than the interstate. We camped at Prairie Band Casino in a Motorhome.

Royal River Casino RV Park, Flandreau, South Dakota

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

This casino campground is located on hwy 32 on south edge of Flandreau and 7.5 mi east of I29. Access is easy on paved roads and check-in is completed at the casino hotel prior to entering the RV area (located south of the hotel). There are no pull thrus and all sites are back in. The individual sites are actually lines on the pavement and RVs could be close together if the area was fully occupied. Tow vehicles may need to be parked in the casino parking lot if all sites were occupied. There are 21 sites in total and not all have 50 AMP but the remainder are 30 AMP. There is no water or sewer at the sites but these utilities are available at the entrance/exit area. There is no cable or internet at the sites. Internet service is available at the casino. Several OTA tv channels are available. There are no trees on the sites so satellite service is uninterrupted. There is a Sinclair service station on south edge of the campground which sells diesel .20 cheaper then the highway. We stayed overnight on our travels south and would not hesitate to stay at this location again. We camped at Royal River Casino RV Park in a Motorhome.

On-Ur-Wa RV Park, Onawa, Iowa

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Overnight stop as we headed north. Approximately 1/2 mile off I29. Easy access from interstate to the RV park. Owners friendly. Guided to pull thru site which easily accommodated our 43 ft RV and towed vehicle. Sites level and and easy to navigate with big rigs. Utilities are fine. WiFi worked fine. No cable TV. Nice overnight stop but a bit pricey. We have stopped in the past and will likely do so in the future. We camped at On-Ur-Wa RV Park in a Motorhome.

Shoemaker RV Park, Bevier, Missouri

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Overnight stop while traveling through Missouri. Easy access off hwy 36 and approx 1/4 mile south of hwy at edge of Bevier. Campground is an older park and is located on a slope at rear of Shoemaker RV Sales and Repair. The campground is not difficult to enter but on initial visit it can be confusing to find campground entrance especially in the dark. We needed a pull through and got a site which was not totally level but sufficient for our needs right behind the dealership building. We didn't use any of the facilities and cannot comment on them. WiFi was superb (best we have seen in an RV Park). No cable or over air TV. Interior roads could be tight for big rigs - we had no issues but park was nearly empty. We did unhook our towed vehicle due to muddy access road but under dry conditions that may not have been necessary. Our pull through site was long enough for our 43 ft motorhome and towed vehicle. Site was gravel with grass in between sites. Large trees border sites and our site had a picnic table. We would use this park for overnight in future if in the area. We camped at Shoemaker RV Park in a Motorhome.

Frog Hollow Campground RV Park, Grenada, Mississippi

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Travelled from Florida north and were looking for an overnight stop. Frog Hollow fit the bill. It is approximately 1/4 mile off Hwy 49. Checkin was easy with Good Sam discount and the owner very friendly. We were guided to our spot which was long enough for our 43 ft motorhome and towed vehicle. The interior roads are crushed rock and navigable by big rigs without difficulties. The site was somewhat level with a small concrete pad on passenger side. Water pressure is high and owner warned us pressure regulator was necessary on tap side to avoid damage to our water line. Utilities worked fine. WiFi poor. No cable but over air TV was fine. We did not explore the area and only stayed one night. Although the park is pretty basic we wouldn't hesitate to utilize it in the future for a stop over. We camped at Frog Hollow Campground RV Park in a Motorhome.

Avalon Landing RV Park, Milton, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

Stopped in on our way back to Canada from Florida and were very impressed. Approx 1/2 mile off I10 but traffic noise was not an issue. Relatively easy access off the highway and checkin was easy. Guided to ur site. We had a drive in site facing the bayou/cove and found it a beautiful and relaxing site. Site was crushed rock with a concrete pad and picnic table. Grass in between sites. WiFi was sporadic. Excellent cable. Site facilities worked fine. We very much enjoyed our stay and would have liked to stay longer then our 3 day stay. Close to Pensacola and the beaches. We camped at Avalon Landing RV Park in a Motorhome.

WinStar RV Park, Thackerville, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

This RV park is associated to the Winstar Casino and is approx. 1 mile E of I 35 near the Oklahoma/Texas border. We were south bound on I-35 and used Exit #1 but Exit #3 can be used although it is further to the RV park. Access roads are wide and paved and check-in parking is large enough to accommodate several RVs with towed vehicle. Check-in is at the RV park registration office located at the RV park. First time visitors can stay free for 1 day with a Player's Card (received at the casino but you can do so after check-in). After the initial day rate is $30 with "player's card" and $40 without. Check-in staff are friendly and helpful. Maneuvering to the site is easy thanks to wide roads and parking in the back-in or pull-thru sites are problem free. The sites themselves are concrete, level and have grass between sites. Each site has a picnic table. Utilities are convenient and easy to access. Each site has cable TV and WIFI, both of which worked fine. There is over the air TV available but we did not use it. There are no large trees and I expect satellite worked fine but we did not use ours. We were not towing but the pull-thru sites are long enough to leave towed vehicles hooked up if desired. Other facilities in the park include: pool, clubhouse, shower/bathroom facilities, basket ball court, horse shoe pit, playground area, and pet areas. We did not investigate any of these other facilities but when walking by they all looked quite nice. The casino is apparently the largest in the world and is within walking distance. Also, shuttle service is available every few minutes to pick up patrons at the RV park registration office. The casino has a number of dining options including an excellent buffet (see website for details). Apparently the casino brings in year round quality entertainment and other RVer's suggested that reservations are necessary most times. We would not hesitate to stay again. We camped at WinStar RV Park in a Motorhome.

Freedom RV Resort, Pleasanton, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Easy access from I37 and then approx. 2 miles east on Hwy 97 to the entrance of the RV park (gravel). Be aware of low hanging branches at entrance way which the owner intends to trim but were present on our arrival. RV Park office is in the 5th wheel trailer immediately to your left on entering the rv park and one must stop there to get directions to your site. Most of the sites appear to be occupied by seasonal workers but there were no issues as a result. Sites are close together and we had to be cautious in maneuvering our 42' motorhome to our spot. We were not towing but had that been the case I am not sure we would have stopped at this park. All utilities worked fine and were conveniently located. WiFi is present but we did not use it. Not sure about cable TV but we used over the air TV and there were several stations to choose from. ATT worked fine. Park owners were very nice and accommodating. We would stay here in the future if in the area. We camped at Freedom RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Casey KOA, Casey, Illinois

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at this KOA for one night while passing through. Access from I70 is convenient and close and the main consideration for us in selecting this RV park. We were travelling west bound on I70 and used Exit 129 to leave the interstate and then travel approx. 1/2 mi N to a paved rural road which takes you approx. 1/4 mi to the KOA entrance driveway (gravel). The park itself is clean and well kept with large mature trees. Check-in was easy and access to our site was easily managed thanks to our guide. The park has been in place for many years so interior roads are a bit tight. Utilities were convenient and worked fine. Satellite TV was not available at our site due to trees and judging from the size of the trees in the park it would be doubtful if satellite TV was available at any site. Cable TV and WiFi worked fine. We camped in a 42' motorhome. We camped at Casey KOA in a Motorhome.

Shipshewana Campground - South Park, Shipshewana, Indiana

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We accessed the campground off State Road 20 and the RV park is approximately 1/2 north on Van Buren Street. We arrived on a Sunday and there was no traffic however the entrance drive to the RV park may not be easily seen if traffic was present. Check-in was arranged over the phone so we never did speak to a campground staff member in person. Directions and paperwork relevant to our site were prepared for us and waiting for our arrival in the "late check-in box". Travel to our site was easy enough and the pull thru was plenty long enough for our 42 ft motorhome. Utilities were convenient and operated properly. We used satellite TV and did not have any issues but there are trees nearby and foliage could be a hinderance at some sites. We did not use cable or over the air TV. WIFI was available. We stayed overnight and would not hesitate to stay again if in the area. We camped at Shipshewana Campground - South Park in a Motorhome.

Ho-Chunk Casino Campground, Baraboo, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Entry and departure from I94 is easy and casino campground is approximately 2-3 miles west of Exit 92 from the interstate. The check-in process requires you to go to the casino hotel to arrange your site. Its a bit cumbersome, but if you are prepared you can park in the hotel parking lot to make for an easier walk to the hotel entrance. Actual completion of the check-in process is easy enough in the hotel and you receive a "player's card" which gives you access to the campground washroom, showers and laundry as well as some gaming perks. The back-in sites are a bit close together and I preferred the pull-thru site for convenience of parking. Back-in sites were $2 cheaper when we attended. Hook-ups were conveniently located and there were no issues with the operation of them. We used satellite TV without any issues and cannot recall whether cable or over-the-air TV was available. I cannot recall if WIFI is available at the RV site but it was available in the casino. We camped here in a 43' motorhome for an overnight and would definitely stay at this location in the future. D-n-R's Place, Bethune, Saskatchewan

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This park is located on the "north end" of Bethune and approx. 1/4 mile off #11 Hwy in what appears to be a former gas station lot. Access is not well marked and there is no lighting at night but if you watch carefully you will see the campground. Access is best coming from the north (southbound land of #11) as you can exit the highway and drive directly to the campground. You can use the old #11 highway on the east edge of Bethune to reach the campground from the northbound lanes of highway #11 (this route is more of a rough service road now which leads out of the town of Bethune going north). The latter route besides being rough is also a longer access route as it parallels highway #11. The campground itself is a decent overnight spot and allows access to the nearly beaches and lakes (Last Mountain Lake and Buffalo Pound Lake). Campers need to understand that the sites are for self contained RV's (no restroom, shower or laundry facilities). Each site is back-in and most are approx. 50' long with small saplings as borders between sites. (see Face Book photos by querying D-n-R's Place). Sites are wide enough for privacy but I didn't actually measure them. Site surface is gravel and grass. Sites are equipped with 30 AMP power and water. The power posts are quite new. No sewer but there is a sewer dump near the exit. No cable or wifi but satellite reception is fine. We did not count the number of sites but would estimate 12-18. Plenty of room to maneuver as the property is rectangular and the individual back-in sites surround two sides of the property boundary with the former gas station building located in the center of the property. Cost was $20 CAD cash per night. We did not actually meet the owner but arranged to leave payment at the site on departure. We were very satisfied with our experience as we were visiting family in the area and were not interested in traveling to the other parks in the area. We would not hesitate to stay in the future. We camped at D-n-R's Place in a Motorhome.

Carrabelle Beach RV Resort, Carrabelle, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed at this resort for two weeks at end of our winter stay in Texas. A great spot to enjoy gulf beaches. You have to cross the highway to access the beach but the barrier trees and vegetation and highway allows gulf shore breezes to be significantly reduced so that is a positive in our opinion. The part entrance off Hwy 98 comes up quickly just west of the village of Carrabelle so be prepared. Entrance is fine but if you stay at the adjacent property you need to exit the property where you checkin to access your site. I suggest phoning ahead to confirm what property your site is on to save you from the nuisance of pulling in only to pull out after checking in. As pointed out access to sites are at a 90 degree angle which can be tight depending on your approach and neighboring RVs. We had a 43 Ft motorhomr and were ok but once again it's easier to be forewarned. Sites provide adequate spacing between neighbors but for the price you might expect more room in some states. Pad is cement and slanted to the side for drainage so not as level as you might expect. Hookups convenient. Water pressure is low (abut 40 lbs). 50 amp was fine. Cable was excellent and many choices. WIFI absolutely terrible. Cost of sites should include reliable WIFI. ATT worked fine. Our site was clean and maintained. No issue with that. Vegetation on site but no shade trees. Never used satellite tv but no obstructions on most sites that I saw. This is our 3rd trip to Carrabelle Beach RV Resort and we look forward to future trips. Site costs are a tad steep and as noted WIFi terrible but we will no doubt return and hope for future improvements. We camped at Carrabelle Beach RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Lamco RV Park, El Campo, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We got a recommendation for this park when our first choice was full. The park parallels Hwy 59 but road construction on the north frontage road where you access park may be a bit confusing. Go to website for instructions and as you approach the park you will enter a shared access point/parking lot which Lamco RV Park shares with Schmidt Implements. Don't be intimidated and drive into the parking lot where you will see a security gate with a numeric key pad (you need to call ahead for the access code). Once through the gate you will see a relatively new park with 72 sites many of which are pull through and approx 70ft long. Park is mostly a gravel parking lot with cement road along west side to drive on. Plenty of room for any RV to maneuver. Site pad for the RV are cement with grass between sites. No trees. We have a 43 Ft motorhome and pad was large enough for our unit to sit on. Sites are level but a bit close and not much room to sit between sites. Most people seem to sit in front of their units. Most of the RVs appear to be owned by workers but sites are clean tidy and well kept. No unusual or bothersome noise except highway traffic noise. Water, sewer and electric connections are convenient. We did not get the WiFi code so cannot report on that. Not aware of cable as we used over air channels. Showers and bathrooms are located in a common/communal building. They are immaculate. There is laundry facilities, workout room and tv lounge (didn't use) but appeared modern and quite nice. Exit from the park is via entrance gate but there is also an exit gate at north end of the park (we did not use). We found this park very convenient for an overnight and reasonably priced during our trip from Rio Grande to Florida. We would not hesitate to use it again for overnights or longer stays. We camped at Lamco RV Park in a Motorhome.

Silverado RV Resort (formerly Desert Valley RV Resort), Eloy, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

We stopped for the month of March while we returned home to Canada for personal business. As a result we spent less then 2 weeks actually resident in the park although our RV remained on site for nearly the full month. To begin with this park is very close to I10 off exit 203 and about 10 miles east of Casa Grande. Access is convenient although proximity comes with some road noise. The park is surrounded by a concrete wall with a locked gate and key pad access. Security was comforting. Navigation on entry and throughout the park is easy for big rigs. Sites are back-in and the local staff/manager assists your positioning on your site. Each site has a small concrete pad for chairs. RV sits on crushed rock along with your tow vehicle. Each site has a citrus tree of 5-7 ft at the rear of the site and some sites have an additional flowering shrub. Hookups are located at the rear of the site and as a result extra long sewer line hose will be required. No cable or internet is provided unfortunately but a local firm (Air Beam) provides internet based on 1 day, 7 day, 14 day, 21 day or 30 days arrangement which can be purchased on site over the internet. Rates run between $3.95 for single day to approx $1.30 per day for 30 day plan. We didn't subscribe and went to a local McDonald's for internet. All network TV channels are available over the air along with many others. Club houses are provided for a variety of resident coordinated activities, i.e. Cards, darts, billiards, bingo. A fitness Centre, Pickle ball courts, pool, hot tub, shuffleboard, horse shoes, etc are on site. Washrooms and showers were spotless. See website for more details. We found the managers and all snowbirds on site to be very, very friendly and welcoming. We would not hesitate to visit in the future if in the area. Monthly site rent was $350. Electric is metered and in addition to monthly rent at. .15 per kwt. Shopping, dining etc is avail in Casa Grande. We camped at Silverado RV Resort (formerly Desert Valley RV Resort) in a Motorhome.
