Nashville North KOA, Goodlettsville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Camped in a 35 foot 5th wheel. Site 102 is level with slightly tight pull through access due to narrow sites, tree, & wooden deck. Sites are gravel with grass. Most sites are close & some are “buddy-like”; i.e., decks face each other. Convenient to I 65, but also lots of traffic noise day & night. Laundry & shower houses are clean. Did not use pool, but looked clean. Grassy playground. Staff are friendly & helpful about local sites to visit. We camped at Nashville North KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Cartersville / Cassville-White KOA, Cartersville, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Camped in a 35 foot 5th wheel. Site A4 is easy access pull-through with room to park truck, gravel, level, and one well- trimmed shade tree. Modest grass plots between sites. Lanes are gravel. Good Wi-Fi. Did not use cable; good over the air reception for major networks. Did not use pool, but looked clean. Clean shower and laundry houses. Very friendly staff. Children’s playground, basketball court, and large grassy community areas. Convenient to I-75. KOA is located on Cassville-White Road, which is busy with traffic noise during the day but quiet at night. We camped at Cartersville / Cassville-White KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Crooked Creek RV Park, West Union, South Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Daily cost reflects seven-day rate. RV park is on shore of Keowee Lake. All sites are pull-through gravel & long enough for truck parking. Lanes are paved. Modest grass spot between sites. Site 81 is level with good views of lake & distant Blue Ridge Mountains. Good WiFi connection. Did not use cable; good over the air channels for major networks with antenna. No shade & this is why did not rate campground higher. Campground is quiet. Laundry & shower houses are clean. Pool & wading pool were closed for season. Basketball court & game room. Playground for children. Wide boat launch & area to park boat trailers. We camped at Crooked Creek RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort & Marina, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

RV park is adjacent to marsh and open water as well as just past the bridge over to Hilton Head Island. Sites are owned, and if you arrive while office is open, a golf cart is available to drive around the park to select from sites available for transients. Lanes are paved. Site 27 is easy access, back-in, level, concrete pad. Site is wide, wide enough to park truck, shaded, and backs against a wooded area. Most sites are close. Mosquitoes were a problem in early October (downrated resort for this). Campground is quiet; although, in some sites there is distant road noise. Did not use either of two swimming pools, but they looked clean. Laundry and bath houses were clean. There is a spacious play ground with some equipment for children, horse shoe pit, basketball court, tennis court, book exchange, DVD borrowing library, & exercise room. WiFi reception from this site is good; however, staff cautioned that that is not the case everywhere in the park. There is cable hook-up; however, we used over the air and received all major stations. We camped at Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

The RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Camped in a 35 foot 5th wheel. Site D 9 is easy access pull through, level, & paved with modest patch of thick grass. There is no shade at any site; however, there are sites with covered gazebos. The site adjacent to site D 9’s hook-up side does have a gazebo & it is very close to D 9. Utility hook ups are convenient. There are no fire pits in this section of the campground. Did not use pool (with slide) or hot tub, but pool looked clean. There is miniature golf, billiard table, corn hole, darts, stationary bike. Showers are clean with glass door enclosure, four hooks, & stool. Laundry is clean. WiFi reception is excellent. Camp store has minimal inventory. Except for occasional distant train track & whistle noise day & night, & depending on atmospheric conditions distant I 95 traffic noise, this is a quiet, well-maintained campground that is very convenient to I 95. We camped at The RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads in a Fifth Wheel.

Island Resort Family Campground & RV Park, Newark, Maryland

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Camped in a 35 foot 5th wheel. Site 94 is shaded, large, sand/grass, & level if rig is parked towards front of site. Spacious area for sitting. Trees are well trimmed. Site overlooks marsh & trees to rear, large grass areas to one side & in front, distant partial lake view. Sewer connection is in rear of site & requires 15 to 20 feet of sewer hose to reach from a center placed discharge rig opening when rig is parked in level spot. All sewers are in the rear of sites & many are a far reach. Good antenna TV reception. Laundry house is clean; $3.00 per load for wash & for dryer. Fairly large catch & release lake. Kayak rentals. Pond. Did not use pool, but looked clean. Pay to eat crab & beer dinner in pavilion one evening. Simple playground. Quiet & dark. Nice campground for adults only & families. We camped at Island Resort Family Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Virginia Beach KOA, Virginia Beach, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $63.00
Overall Rating:

Camped in a 35 foot 5th wheel. Site C 160 is easy access pull through, level, & narrow. Site is grass & sand. We were camped during a hard & long rain storm & a very large mud puddle formed at the foot of the rig stairs. Sewer is in rear of site & a rather long reach if rig is centered front to back on site & has a center sewer discharge opening. Site is adjacent to bath house & propane tank. There is a somewhat noisy air conditioner at the bath house that can be heard at site, & lights shine all night. WiFi access is good. Bath house is well-used; shower stalls have slight mildew odor. Showers cleaned at least once every morning. The handicapped shower stall allows water to spill onto the floor outside the shower & it wets the entire floor of the room. There are no hooks or a place to put clothing & towels. Did not use restrooms or laundry. Did not use pools, but they looked clean. Convenient to Virginia Beach beach (three miles). There is a bike path that can be followed to reach the boardwalk; however, it is across a busy road from the campground. There is a city shuttle bus that stops in the campground. The campground is in a navy fly zone & there are noisy jets periodically during the day & until close to midnight. This a family destination type of campground. We camped at Virginia Beach KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Candy Hill Campground, Winchester, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Camped in a 35 foot 5th wheel. Site A-13 is very tight for a rig of this length due to trees & hill. Owner was invaluable in assisting in & out. Site required two boards to level side to side; picnic table needed boards to level. Site is grass with shade. Campground has convenient access to highway, but is also noisy day & night. Laundry & shower houses need a face lift, but are clean. Showers have open & common bench & hooks. WiFi requires a fee. Staff are very friendly. Campground cable car ran two nights to a local yoghurt shop for $1.00 per person. Did not use pool, but it was busy & looked clean. Convenient to Winchester, Museum of the Shenandoah Valley. We camped at Candy Hill Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Drummer Boy Camping Resort, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Camped in a 35 foot 5th wheel. Site 200 is pull through, dirt, level, shaded. Trees make access tricky for a rig this length. Because it is wooded, there is a lot of tree debris on the ground. Showers & laundry houses are clean. Did not use pools; they were busy & looked clean. WiFi access was inconsistent, especially during evenings. Lots of golf cart & vehicular traffic caused dust from gravel lanes. Convenient to Gettysburg sites as well as a family destination campground. Site 200 location quiet; however, some sites in campground are close to a busy, noisy four-lane highway. Many seasonal sites with loads of night time light. We camped at Drummer Boy Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Delaware Beaches Jellystone, Lincoln, Delaware

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $63.00
Overall Rating:

Camped in a 35 foot RV. Site 92 is easy access, spacious, grass/gravel/sand, with no shade. Level if place rig in just the right spot. Poor Wi-Fi at site and office on Saturday, but good on Sunday. Cable OK; for local TV used antenna to reach some mainstream networks. Bath house heavily used and needs more frequent clearing. Laundry house heavily used. Food scraps scattered about site when arrived. Pool well used, but looked clean. As expected, lots of children-orientated activities. For traveling RVers this is an OK campground for an overnight. We camped at Delaware Beaches Jellystone in a Fifth Wheel.

Camped in a 35 foot RV. Site E 35 is easy access, spacious, grass, level, with tree shade until late afternoon. Seashore Campsites & RV Resort, Cape May, New Jersey

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $63.00
Overall Rating:

Camped in a 35 foot rig. Site J31 is paved, level, shaded, and on the main campground thoroughfare close to swimming lake. No Wi-Fi at site; pavilion next to office has good access and is short walk from site. Lots of activity to watch. Quiet after 11:00 p.m. Friendly staff. 25 cent charge for shower and there was a line in late afternoon and again in early evening in bath house closest to site. Did not use laundry or pool; both were busy, but looked clean. Large campground makes for long walks. Convenient to visit Cape May and beaches. We camped at Seashore Campsites & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Old Cedar Campground, Monroeville, New Jersey

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Camped in a 35 foot RV. Level, dirt/sand with some grass pull-through shaded site. Easy access. Trees trimmed. Site 32 is close to pool with good Wi-Fi and antenna TV access. Laundry room was adequate with one open-to-the-outdoors side. Machines clean; cold water wash only; room itself borderline clean. Bath house/restroom old with rusty pipes and odor. Water flow for showers is chain operated and no knobs for temperature control. Did not use pool, but noticed it was cleaned every evening. Nice areas for walking around fields and through woodland. Ponds for fishing, swimming; volley ball and tennis courts; miniature golf; shuffle board. Quiet and dark at night after 11:00 p.m. Needs a light face-lift, but a nice place. We camped at Old Cedar Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
