Florida SKP Resort - Escapees Park (members only), Wauchula, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful, well maintained park in the cattle country of central Florida. The park is well organized, folks are very friendly. All facilities worked very well. Over 30 OTA TV signals were available from the Tampa/Sarasota area. WIFI was very good. Pool area and clubhouse were very nice, several activities are available every week. All sites are back in and are spacious and well arranged. We will definitely return. We camped at Florida SKP Resort - Escapees Park (members only) in a Motorhome.

Sumter Oaks RV Park - Escapees Rainbow Park, Bushnell, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 6 weeks so rates vary. $12/day plus elec. at the monthly rate and then we were charged a weekly rate and daily rate for the remaining days which did not include elec. We've never encountered that before but the park is nice, wooded, has a swamp on the north side with cypress trees and plenty of wildlife, herons, egrets, cranes, osprey, otters, etc. The adjoining field to the east contains a group of rescued donkeys. 30amp only site FHU. We had plenty of rain during our stay so the park can get very muddy and does not drain quickly. No WIFI here and 1 or 2 OTA TV signals if you're lucky depending on the time of day and atmospheric conditions. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Smart weigh system is installed at this park which we took advantage of and propane is also available. Only 1 1/2 miles east of I-75 with easy access and little noise from that highway. This is cattle country so there is plenty of open land around the area. We could not get a 50 amp site which seem to be allocated to the long term leaseholders in this park. Laundry area is good and clean, lending library, Direct TV etc are in the main clubhouse. Ours was a side by side site so our neighbor on one side was very close but we had a retention pond on the other. Concrete pad was in poor condition. No picnic tables or fire rings. We camped at Sumter Oaks RV Park - Escapees Rainbow Park in a Motorhome.

Walmart and Winn Dixie supermarket in Bushnell. Several restaurants in the area but at least 5 miles away. Recommend Monticello's restaurant in Brooksville for very good pizza and other items at very good prices. Fl. National Cemetery is a few miles west. There is a very nice bike trail west of the park in the Withlacoochee forest.

Wickham Park Campground, Melbourne, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

50 amp, FHU site. Wifi was sporadic this year for some reason. Over 50 OTA TV signals available. We have stayed here many times over the years and it is a beautiful park with many activities available. Our complaints would be the large rundown homeless population setups we see throughout the park. While I realize that these folks need a place to stay it is distressing to see so many here in a time of very low unemployment. Since the snowbirds with reservations began to arrive the homeless population decreased toward the end of October. We have stayed in several Brevard County parks and this one seems to have a very lax attitude towards rule enforcement. Even when I reported some violations to the staff nothing was done about the situation and that is annoying. Why have rules if you don't want to enforce them? Speeding through the campground is also an unenforced problem area so if you have children be careful here. We camped at Wickham Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Whispering Pines Campground, Rincon, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

30 amp, W&E site only. FHU sites were very expensive considering the park. I suppose the proximity to Savannah warrants the high prices but I didn't feel this park was worth $50/night. Cable TV included but WIFI was basically useless. 30 amp hookup was not strong. Staff very nice and helpful. I doubt we would return since we only stopped here to visit the Mighty 8th Air Force museum down the road. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

Crooked River State Park, Saint Marys, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

50 amp, W&E back-in site adjacent to the river. We had not been here since 2011 but remembered it as a beautiful park and it really is. The views of the river and the marshes are simply wonderful. The sites are well laid out and maintained. Approx. 25 OTA TV signals and our cell phone hot spots worked fine here. About the only "rub" is that the State of Georgia hits you up for $5 if you are from out of state. Senior discount was 20% which was wiped out by the $5 extra out of state charge. We camped at Crooked River State Park in a Motorhome.

Manatee Hammock Campground, Titusville, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

50 amp, FHU site, waterfront view of the Indian River and the Kennedy Space Center. Staff has done a great job of cleaning the campground after the hurricanes of the last 2 years. Approx. 58 OTA TV signals, WIFI worked well most of the time. My only complaint was that a previous tenant of our site left behind dozens of cigarette butts. There used to be trash barrels located around the park but no more, the only trash facility is up by the old office building and it's a dumpster. We camped at Manatee Hammock Campground in a Motorhome.

Of course, Orlando and it's attractions is only about 50 miles away.

Georgetown Marina, Lodge & RV Park, Georgetown, Florida

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

50 FHU waterfront site. Very good WIFI & cable. Owners are very customer service oriented and wonderful to know. We had originally been given a particular site but once we arrived the owner offered us a waterfront site which was very nice of her and we accepted. Although there is a covered dock/boat slips immediately in front of us we still had a very nice view. We enjoyed our stay here and would return if in the area. If you like to fish/boat then this is a great place for you. Rate reflects monthly rate which does not include electricity. We camped at Georgetown Marina, Lodge & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

50 amp, FHU site directly on waterfront. Wonderful views of Dog and St. George Islands from any Tier "A" site. This is a well run, clean campground and our 3rd trip here. We will return to enjoy the view. Cable TV and WIFI included. Very friendly, helpful staff. Sites are crushed shell and sand not gravel although I checked gravel in the choice box (below) there are no selections for shell. We camped at Ho-Hum RV Park in a Motorhome.

The Pines RV Campground, Tifton, Georgia

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

50 amp, FHU pull-through site, cable, WIFI. Easy in/out. Check in was very easy and fast. This is a good stop for those traveling I-75 or US319. Some loud motorcycle noise from the Harley dealer almost immediately next door and there was a train that went by some distance away whose engineer really liked to blow his horn loud and long at 4 AM. A good place for an overnight stop but I couldn't recommend a lengthy stay here. Side by side hookups here but there was no one immediately next to us, if there were we would have almost touched slide out to slide out. We camped at The Pines RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Lee Hi Campground, Lexington, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Our 3rd visit to Lee Hi. 50 amp, FHU, pull-through site was just fine. Approx. 20 OTA TV signals, WIFI worked fairly well. We find this stop very convenient to our travels between PA and NC since it is approx. half way and it is easy on/off I-81. Staff is always friendly and helpful whenever we have stopped by. Campground is above the truck parking lot on a hill. There is some noise from idling trucks which continues throughout the day and night but if you're using your A/C you may not notice it at all. Overall Rating:

50 amp FHU, pull through site. Cable and WIFI included in price, however we could not connect to the WIFI. Escort to site. Convenient to I-84 and Hwy 209. Our hotspots worked fine here. Some noise from the Interstate but nothing we could not deal with. We had not called for a site until almost 4 PM on a Friday night and were surprised to find that we could get one. Campground is right on the Delaware River. If you're looking for convenience to the Interstate for an overnight stop this is a good choice. We camped at Tri-State RV Park in a Motorhome.

Moody Beach RV Campground, Wells, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

We had not planned to ever return here but since we had to rejoin Thousand Trails for family medical reasons we stopped here for 1 night, we could not obtain a reservation so were given the "overflow" area which is a grassy area just outside the regular campground and it turned out to be much better than having a site within the park since we were 1 of 4 RVs in that large area. Since the weather cooperated and A/C or heat were not needed we had a great night. We walked the entire park after dinner and saw that nothing has changed, the sites are cramped and dingy/dreary looking with the 50 amp section being side by side hookups we observed rigs with only 2 feet between slide outs. My feelings of claustrophobia from our first visit here did not change and I was thankful that we were assigned the overflow area. In reality, if your rig can do with just 30 amps I would recommend using those sites since they are parallel parked and seem to provide more room. As usual, everything here is extra, WIFI, cable etc. If it weren't for the fact that we are TT members we would not return. We camped at Moody Beach RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Oceanfront Camping @ Reach Knolls, Brooklin, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

These are the nicest and most congenial owners we have ever met in 9 years of RVing. The owners and staff are excellent. They go out of their way to make sure you feel welcome and address your every concern and answer every question. We cannot say enough about how great our stay was at their campground even though it does not have some of the amenities you might expect. If you like peace and quiet and Maine woods next to the ocean this is for you. 30 amp only at our site but we stayed 2 weeks without having to move our rig because the privy is so clean and the outdoor shower is fabulous (their are indoor showers as well). 6 OTA TV signals, and WIFI is only at the camp office but works well. The owner spaces RVs according to the occupancy so that folks do not feel cramped even though there is plenty of room between sites. Dump station at office and the owners can lend you a "blue boy" should you need it. We camped at Oceanfront Camping @ Reach Knolls in a Motorhome.

This is rural Maine with many small towns on the peninsula but with great scenery all around. The major grocery outlet is in Blue Hill about a 15 minute drive. The Brooklin General Store has basic necessities. There are any hiking trails all around and plenty of water activities in the area. Brooklin is the wooden boat building capital of the US.

Wagon Wheel RV Resort, Old Orchard Beach, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

50 amp FHU site described as a "pull-through" but in reality we had to disconnect our toad or we would not have been able to access the site. This is primarily a permanent seasonal type park and not really a campground. 2 swimming pools, one devoted to adults only. When we called for a reservation we were told there was only 1 site left which our coach would fit in but in reality there were many open for the 2 nights we stayed there, one of which would not have required a toad disconnect. When I asked the staff about it they said I should have called the campground directly and we might have obtained that site. Seems a strange way to do business. Very clean park, nice staff. Rates were very high even with the PA discount but that's the way it is in the northeast. The park allows local youth groups into the facility to use the pool etc. so if you're looking for quiet you may not find it here. Cable and WIFI are included in the rate. Very nice staff, helpful and accommodating. We had originally booked their last site for the night which was a back-in but once we arrived we were asked if we'd prefer a pull-through that did not have sewer since one had become available.
