Rainbow Springs State Park, Dunnellon, Florida

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

50 amp, FHU back-in site. Approx. 25 OTA TV channels, our WIFI hotspots worked fairly well here. Each site is well protected from the next due to the high foliage between each one. Many things to do here, kayaking, hiking, swimming etc. in the springs. The headwaters and swimming are accessed through another entrance on the other side of the park. Springs are very busy on weekends but less crowded during the week. We camped at Rainbow Springs State Park in a Motorhome.

Iron City Campground, Blacksburg, South Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Fairly new park, office still has that new fresh wood aroma. Wonderful owners, very hospitable. 50amp, FHU pull-through site, cable included. WIFI at the office only. Park is well laid out and it shows that a great deal of thought went into the design. Our hot spots worked well here. Easy on/off I-85 but far enough away to not hear the noise. We would definitely return if in this area. Nice pool area also. As a side note, we have only been to 49 States and not 51 as shown in our profile. We camped at Iron City Campground in a Motorhome.

Pinch Pond Family Campground & RV Park, Manheim, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

30 amp, FHU, pull-through site. Analog cable TV included. Our phone hot spots worked well here. We were one row removed from the park boundary which adjoins the PA Turnpike so it was very noisy most of the day and part of the night. If you were in a tent or soft sided rig of some kind it could be a real problem area for you. The picnic tables were atrocious, the most disgustingly dirty we've seen in many years mainly due to mold and mildew. At the prices they charge here you would expect cleaner tables. Except for the office personnel, we found the campground workers to be condescending and smart alecks. We will not return. We camped at Pinch Pond Family Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tri-State RV Park, Matamoras, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

50 amp, FHU, pull-through site. Cable & WIFI included however, just as last year we could not get the WIFI to work but our hot spots did. Very nice lady in office escorted us to our site. Easy in/out of this campground, however you are immediately off I-84 and there will be plenty of highway noise depending on the time of day. Rate is $45/night or $43 if you pay in cash or $42 for military/veterans. Quite a few long term residents who work in the area. We have tried another park in the area but access to it was very difficult for our 40' motor home and this park is easily accessible and we only stop here for 1 night at a time. We camped at Tri-State RV Park in a Motorhome.

Duck Puddle Campground, Nobleboro, Maine

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

30 amp, FHU, back-in site. CG is very hilly, roads are very rough and rutted, would hate to see it after a heavy rainfall. CG was about half full of seasonal sites mainly near the lake which seems to be the main attraction here. A few OTA TV signals were available, no WIFI except at the office. At these prices I doubt we would return. We camped at Duck Puddle Campground in a Motorhome.

Wakeda Campground, Hampton Falls, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

50 amp, FHU pull-through site. This campground has over 400 sites and most of them are seasonal. Park is well maintained, heavily forested and has many amenities. We asked for a basic W&E site since we were only spending one night here but nothing was available. At these prices (prevalent throughout the northeast) you would expect WIFI and cable TV but not here. Several OTA TV signals were available. We would not return, the prices are too high. Interior roads could use better markings and if you should happen upon anyone else there would not be room for both vehicles. We camped at Wakeda Campground in a Motorhome.

Apple Island Resort, South Hero, Vermont

Overall Rating:

50 amp, FHU pull-through site with a view of Lake Champlain in 2 quadrants. If it had not been for the Passport America discount we would not have stopped here at all since the weekday rate is $80/night and weekend $90/night. Very well maintained campground with many amenities besides the view. WIFI worked well, approx. 20 or so OTA TV signals. Much to do in the area. Escort to site and garbage/recycles are picked up each day at your site. There is a general store on the property with excellent sandwiches and they will deliver to your site. Staff is excellent and very service oriented. We camped at Apple Island Resort in a Motorhome.

Rideau Acres Campground, Kingston, Ontario

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

30amp FHU, pull-through site. WIFI only available at a hotspot around the park. Approx. 7 OTA TV signals. We had stopped here once before several years ago but I think this will be our last visit since the prices keep jumping up and no extra services are included. Some turns can be very tight if there are more than one vehicle involved. We camped at Rideau Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

Milton Heights Campground, Milton, Ontario

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We hadn't been here in 2 years and not much has changed except the daily rate which had jumped quite a bit which might explain why the park was not nearly as busy as in past years. FHU 50amp back-in site. WIFI worked fine, several OTA TV signals from Toronto and Buffalo are available. This park is bounded on the east by a highway which generates quite a bit of noise and the west boundary is a road utilized by heavy gravel trucks so if peace and quiet are your forte you might want to go elsewhere. Toronto traffic is a nightmare to say the least just as any other large city so it is wise to avoid it. We camped at Milton Heights Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This area has everything any large metropolitan area has to offer and of course Niagara Falls is about an hour or so south. Hamilton has a very nice Canadian Aviation Museum that is worth visiting and there are several provincial parks around with hiking trails. We avoid Toronto simply because of the traffic and it is very crowded.

Pequea Creek Campground, Pequea, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

50 amp, W&E back in site near the creek. Fairly quiet, some road noise from across the creek once in awhile. 2 OTA TV signals, our WIFI hotspots worked here but rather slowly. WIFI is available but only at the office. Park managers are very nice and helpful. We have a 40' motor home and if you have any fairly large rig you must follow Lori's directions or you'll definitely be sorry you didn't. The left turn off Hwy 324 is a descending 120 degree turn and the covered bridge has a clearance of only 11'6" and a weight limit of 5 tons so we could not use it and had to go around the long way into the campground which adds about 4 miles to the trip. These are country roads with many tight curves and is hilly. There are some low hanging branches throughout the trip into the area and the park. Although this is a nice place I doubt we would return. We camped at Pequea Creek Campground in a Motorhome.

Utt's Campground, Fancy Gap, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

50 Amp, FHU, pull through site. Open field on the top of a hill. Very nice views all around. Several OTA TV signals and our WIFI hotspots worked well here even though the park has WIFI. Our only problem was that the office folks had us down for the wrong day on our reservation and since the office was closed from 12-3 pm we had to wait 1&1/2 hours until they returned to rectify the situation. Other than that it is a very nice stop along I-77. Cash price is $30, credit card $32 + change. We camped at Utt's Campground in a Motorhome.

Kings Mountain State Park, Blacksburg, South Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

30 amp, W&E sites. Signage throughout the park is poor, had we not stopped at the park HQ we would have had difficulty taking the correct road to the park check-in office. All roads within the campground are gravel and in poor condition with many gullies, ruts etc. There are many tight turns with trees on either side of the road requiring delicate maneuvering if you're in a motor home which is what we have. Our site was not level requiring significant leveling. Over 30 OTA TV stations available from Charlotte. Our WIFI hotspots worked well here. I doubt we would return although it is a nice park there is not much to do here other than hike their trails. The trail to the rustic farm was fine but all the buildings on the "farm" were locked. We camped at Kings Mountain State Park in a Motorhome.

Paynes Creek (Hartwell Lake) COE, Hartwell, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

W&E site. The sites at this COE park are more of a challenge to get into than any other COE park we've been to in our travels. Although our site was large and very nice the access required several maneuvers to get into it. Other than that, this is another great COE park. WIFI on our hotspots worked well, more than 30 OTA TV stations. Nice hiking trails within the park. We camped at Paynes Creek (Hartwell Lake) COE in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

50 amp, FHU site. Very nice park approx. half way between Foley & Fairhope, AL with all each has to offer. Nice quiet atmosphere this time of year. Several OTA TV signals, used our phone hot spots rather than purchase the horrible Tengo internet. The park has a rec center (very quiet since the snowbirds have left) and pool which opened on May 1st. We would definitely return. Rate was monthly Escapees member rate with electricity added. Foley has a multitude of shops, big box stores and restaurants etc. as does Fairhope. If you like watching the fabulous Navy Blue Angels, the drive to Pensacola Naval Air Station is 1 hour and well worth the trip. Don't miss a visit to Battleship Park in Mobile where the USS Alabama & USS Drum are on display as well as other military aircraft, tanks & artillery pieces. And, of course, there are the beaches about 40 minutes south.
