Sanlan RV & Golf Resort, Lakeland, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2012 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

A nice RV park locate beside their own private nature preserve. Park has decent amenities in good condition. Utilities worked well. Access to and in the park was easy for our larger RV. Park has a lot of Ontario snowbirds during the winter who were friendly and pleasant. Nature trails around the park in the private nature preserve were nice for walking, biking, and even suitable for golf carts if you travel with one. Rail trail in front of the park that is a short bike ride / walk to a gorgeous nature preserver (Circle Bar B and Hancock Lake). We were in a pull through site in the "sunset" area of the park under a tree that left our RV, grill, and chairs covered daily with a heavy coat of greenish / yellow pollen. it took some work after our stay to remove the green stains from everything. Also, didn't appreciate people knocking on our door Sundays trying to solicit us for money; once asking for breast cancer fund donations and second time for campground employee retirement party. This park was nice but pricey, there are no discounts anything, and they are VERY clear that there are no refunds for any stay for any reason. We would stay here again but far away from any trees next time. We camped at Sanlan RV & Golf Resort in a Motorhome.

Tampa South RV Resort, Ruskin, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2012 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

A very nice RV park on the river and with nice amenities. Friendly staff helped us to our site, utilities worked well, and we had a clear view for satellite. Access to and in the park was easy for our larger RV. Park was FULL during our 2 week stay, our site was small and very close to our neighbors, as we expected for south Florida during the winter. The snowbird residents were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Nice park sponsored events on a regular basis (pot-lucks, dances, golf outings, etc) and the park faculties (roads, pool, etc) were all in like new condition. There is a pretty river that runs beside the park and we were lucky to see dolphins in the evening as the tide was going out. The downside to this park, and it is a BIG downside, is the railroad that runs very close to the front of the park. And the engineers blow the train horn several times during every pass, night and day, and it is LOUD. During our 2 week stay I never got used to the train horn, it woke me up every night several times. If it weren't for the trains, this would be a perfect park. As it is, I don't know if we would stay again just because I didn't get one full nights sleep during our entire stay. We camped at Tampa South RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Mr. Z's RV Park, Gilbert, South Carolina

Date of Stay: January, 2012 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is really a handful of sites in the owner's back yard. Very nice owners and the Passport America rate was a cheap price for an overnight stop. There was an extra $2 charge for less than stellar Wi-Fi and the sand gnats were terrible. The gnats were so bad by the time I was done connecting utilities I couldn't stand the bugs anymore, swarming my eyes and biting my legs. Couldn't stand to be outside during our stay. We would not stay here again. We camped at Mr. Z's RV Park in a Motorhome.

Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park, Jacksonville, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2012 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

One of our favorite parks that we have stayed at. This is a great park and a spectacular value! Beautiful setting, gated and secure, sites are one block from the ocean, and reasonably priced. Access to and in the park was easy for our larger RV, although we worried if we we were headed to the right place as some of the surrounding neighborhood is not the greatest. Staff was friendly and we enjoyed walking around the park's nature trails, lake, and of course to the ocean. Lots of mountain biking trails in the park. Clean and attractive sites and park grounds. Not only would we definitely return, we cant wait to return here! We camped at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park in a Fifth Wheel.

St. John's RV Park, St Augustine, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2012 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Nothing exceptional about this campground, but full hookups and a decent quiet night's stay for a very good price (Passport America) close to St. Augustine attractions. Access to and in the park was easy for our larger RV. Office staff was friendly. Everything about this campground was OK, not great, just OK, and for the price we paid that was good for us. We would return to overnight or stay a few days and see the St. Augustine sights. We camped at St. John's RV Park in a Motorhome.

Hardeeville RV, Hardeeville, South Carolina

Date of Stay: January, 2012 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Full hookups and a cheap Passport America rate (cash or check only) made this a good choice for seeing Savanna area and the Wildlife Refuge. Sites are acceptable and access to and in the park was easy for our larger RV. We were in a pull through in the front part of the park near the office so there was some road noise and during our stay and the gnats and mosquito's must have been in season because they were terrible, even getting into our RV. Our stay was less than enjoyable due to the neighbor with the barking German Sheppard tied to a tree all day while they were gone; I don't know why campground management allowed this. We camped at Hardeeville RV in a Motorhome.

Spring Valley Campground, Cambridge, Ohio

Date of Stay: January, 2012 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here in winter because it was the only campground in the area with utilities that was open. We arrived late to find we had our choice of 2 terribly unlevel sites with hookups at the wrong end of the site. Literally had to park our RV and truck forward in the roadway (never unhooked) out of the front part of the site in order to make the electric connection with our 30' electric cable. It was raining and sites were very muddy. Overall a relatively poor experience. We would not stay again. We camped at Spring Valley Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tomorrow's Stars RV Resort, South Charleston, Ohio

Date of Stay: January, 2012 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

A decent park that provides a good value for the price. Friendly hosts helped us to our site and the front row pull throughs were great for easy access, utilities worked well, and we had a clear view for satellite. Membership type park with friendly residents but the pool looked like it needed some maintenance; usable, just a some cosmetic issues. Great place for an overnight or longer term stay. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Tomorrow's Stars RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
