Al's Oasis Campground, Oacoma, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2012 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

We stopped here on our way to the Badlands. Not bad CG for an overnight. Not near as impressive as the internet makes it look. Our site was long enough for our 35' travel trailer and pickup but really unlevel. In a pinch we would possibly stay here again. We camped at Al's Oasis Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Badlands / White River KOA, Interior, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2012 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This is our first KOA. We were extremely pleased with the friendly staff and managers. We had site 2 which was an adequate pull through for 35' travel trailer and pickup. Plenty of shade. This a very family friendly park with lots for the kids to do. We didn't use the cable TV or Wi-Fi all that much as we spent the time touring the Badlands and Wall Drug. The location is a little off the beaten path, we drove through the Badlands to finally arrive at the CG, but once we were there we decided to stay an extra 2 nights. It would have been very peaceful except for a thunderstorm with hail and high winds (no fault of the CG). We would stay here again. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Rafter J Bar Ranch Camping Resort, Hill City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2012 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great family vacation resort. If you have kids this is one of the best set up CG for amenities and touring local attractions. We stayed in the base camp: the pull through sites are a little closer than we would have liked, but extra long to allow for a vehicle. Rafter has several "camps" called line camps and another called the island. I wish now we would have stayed in the line camp along the tree line. The base camp sits in the valley with strong winds coming over the mountain. We had 3 nights of rocking and rolling because of the high winds, but that is no fault of the Rafter J. Highly recommended for family fun. Driving by some of the other RV campgrounds in the area: this is by far the best. We camped at Rafter J Bar Ranch Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Chris' Camp, Spearfish, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2012 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

When we arrived, we were greeted by the owner and his golf cart. We hopped on and he allowed us to pick our site even though they had one reserved for us, we picked a different site. This is pay cash or check, no credit cards. The $33 after Good Sam discount. After we picked our site the owner then lead us back to it and made sure we were lined up. Right away we decided to stay more than our original 2 nights and decided to stay 3 more. Very friendly, family owned park. A great place to camp overnight or extended stay. Probably very busy during bike rally but another time this CG is A+. Wi-Fi off and on but worked great when on. We camped in site 20 across from pool (heated), laundry, showers and restrooms. Great location. We would come back here. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Travel Trailer.

On-Ur-Wa RV Park, Onawa, Iowa

Date of Stay: June, 2012 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Very quaint well kept private park. Just off highway far enough to be peaceful but close to buy supplies if you need them. Owner very friendly and helpful. Pull-through sites more than adequate for our 35' trailer and vehicle. We were toward the back of the park and most of the sites were shady. Easy in and out. We camped at On-Ur-Wa RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Basswood Resort, Platte City, Missouri

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

This was our second stay at Basswood Resort. Since this was Memorial Day Weekend the staff was very busy and a little more stressed than our first visit, they didn't seem near as friendly. We stayed here in our 35' travel trailer and large diesel pickup. Our site 34 was a very tight back in site and the rigs were so close I ran into the slideout of the fifth wheel next to us. There was hardly any room to park your vehicle after you backed your rig in. If you plan to be here during a holiday week or weekend make your reservations way ahead. Overall Basswood is a very family friendly Campground/Resort. The laundry facility was great but that's the only amenity we used while in the area visiting family. We camped at Basswood Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Cottonwoods RV Park, Columbia, Missouri

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We love to stay here. This was our 3rd visit travelling from South Carolina to Kansas. We stayed here in our 38' travel trailer. We had site 94 (motorhome site), which made it extremely nice since we are over 60' with our truck. We would have rated the park a 10 except it is not as easy to get in and out because of small trees located on both sides of the gravel sites. Other than a little trouble getting in and out this is a great park. We camped at Cottonwoods RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Duck Creek RV Park, Paducah, Kentucky

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed at Duck Creek before and enjoy the convenience of location and the very friendly staff. The pull through sites are gravel but relatively level, easy in and easy out. They will lead you to your site. There are several permanent folks but there are plenty of sites for overnight guests. We stayed here in our 38' RV and had site 25. Great location. We camped at Duck Creek RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Harvest Moon RV Park, Adairsville, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This was our second visit to Harvest Moon. We also stayed here a year ago. Very clean well maintained park. Sites are gravel pull-throughs, extremely long with some shade. Shade trees are mainly in the older section which is a little more unlevel. We were in site 21 which we enjoyed very much; level, evening shade, easy in and easy out. Staff was very friendly. Park was relatively quiet even though it is not located that far from the highway. We stayed at Harvest Moon traveling from South Carolina to Kansas. We camped at Harvest Moon RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Calvin's RV Camping, Wamego, Kansas

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

We were at Calvin's for 4 nights 2 different times in May. We were there in our 35' trailer. Our site (14) was shady and paved. The pull-through sites were all paved. There is also a dump station next to the office. There is a storm shelter (which we had to use one night!) with a bathroom. Be prepared for local train activity 3-4 times a day but you get used to it. A GPS will not find Calvin's correctly. In Wamego you will travel on 4th street past the city park. Once you get to the industrial section and Caterpillar tractor company Calvin's is just past the row of trees. We camped at Calvin's RV Camping in a Travel Trailer.

North Star RV Park and Mobile Home Community, Valley Center, Kansas

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

We spent 4 nights at North Star. It was a very peaceful stay except for Kansas wind. Site was level and pull through. Easy in and easy out. Owner is a very nice gentleman and we enjoyed our stay there very much. We will return to North Star if the occasion arises. With our Good Sam membership the rate dropped to $26 per night. We were visiting family and friends in Valley Center, Maize and Wichita so this was a great location. We camped at North Star RV Park and Mobile Home Community in a Travel Trailer.
