Coldbrook Resort Campground, Gansevoort, New York

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

I'm not to comment too much on this place. I will not stay here again. Had to move twice to get a level spot. They are not setup for over night visitors. Mainly a get-a-way for the weekend city folks. Way over priced for what you get. We camped at Coldbrook Resort Campground in a Tent Trailer.

Pleasant River Campground, West Bethel, Maine

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

As others have stated- the service was excellent. I had some trouble with my popup the day before and needed to address the problem. The owner not only suggested a good repair person, but also loaned me a power cord to get me through the stay. Very quiet during our stay. The only recommendation I would have is to make the shower area a bit larger. Very tight but clean. We camped at Pleasant River Campground in a Tent Trailer.

Mactaquac Provincial Park, Mactaquac, New Brunswick

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Used this park headed back to the sates. Good value, good site, not crowded, good RR/shower. I can see lots of people staying here during the summer months. Office help was pleasant and friendly. We needed to do laundry, but the washers/dryers had been pulled out for the winter. I can understand that since it's approaching Oct. We camped at Mactaquac Provincial Park in a Tent Trailer.

Wayside Campground, Glen Margaret, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We changed to this park because it was closer to Peggy's Cove and rated very high in the Nova Scotia travel book. What a mistake! It's basically a seasonal CG and the owners only care about the income from the over night folks. The site was level, but had ruts in the ground from camper units tires sinking. Garbage was on the ground in the site next to us. The restroom was OK, but the fixtures were loose and the stall dark. (No lights) The shower (men's) was terrible. Sloping wood floor, soft wood at that, and gaps around the walls. The shower was not cleaned for the two days we were there. There were hooks, a mate, and bench. (that's good) The shower cost one loony for 10 mins. 25 cents for five minutes would have been a better deal. This park has potential, but the owners apparently don't want it to be. We will NOT be back. We camped at Wayside Campground in a Tent Trailer.

two night stay. sites are large w/ water-electric. RR/shower look clean. Not many people here at the moment. Good value. Everything was self check-in - via a phone, but that was easy. Credit cards were good. We camped at Mira River Provincial Park in a Tent Trailer.

Elm River RV Park, Glenholme, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This CG probably has the cleanliest showers/RR that I've ever seen. Excellent on all counts. Used the laundry because it was clean and well equipped. We used this CG as a stop over, but stayed two nights to tour the area. Staff was helpful and the grounds were secure at night. We camped at Elm River RV Park in a Tent Trailer.

Headquarters Campground (Parks Canada), Fundy National Park, New Brunswick

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Used this park for two nights. Good hiking close to our site. The RR/showers were OK in the section that we camped, but others we checked needed help. 50% of the equipment was "out of order" Mixed bag on staff helpfulness. Some excellent, others had an attitude. Campfires at your site are NOT permitted in this CG, but at other CG's in the area- they do permit fires at your site. They was evidence of hurricane storm damage throughout the park. We camped at Headquarters Campground (Parks Canada) in a Tent Trailer.

Kiwanis Oceanfront Camping, St. Andrews, New Brunswick

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

I don't agree with some of the comments about this campground. You spend $$$$ for an ocean view and the spots are limited and in high demand. We were assigned a spot among the seasonal folks. Only one RR/shower for the entire CG which was not heavily used, but the shower floor could have been cleaner. They did have mats and hooks in the shower stalls. Even included a small bench (a plus). This place is in high demand and probably full each night. The office staff was helpful. We camped at Kiwanis Oceanfront Camping in a Tent Trailer.

Bar Harbor Campground, Bar Harbor, Maine

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

this park is busy and large. Do not arrive after dark because you can't see a thing in the woods. Owners are not setup for CC, therefore, payment is cash/check only. Lots of sites to choice from - both types and styles. The RR/showers are large and clean. Takes 25 cents for a 5 min shower. Being former military, that was 2 minutes over the allotted time. We would return if in the area. We camped at Bar Harbor Campground in a Tent Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Did the Acadia NP activities - take the buses (free) from the CG to the NP visitors center and then the NP tour buses to the various sites in the park (free). Parking is limited everywhere and the buses mostly solve that problem.

Travelers Woods, Bernardston, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

This was an over night stay. Not crowded, but looked like mostly seasonal folks. We found a satisfactory site on a grassy meadow. Had E/W - the only con I have about the CG was the bath house was a hike up a small grade. The RR/showers were clean, but a bit dated. The RR had hooks in the shower stalls and mats/benches in the showers. A plus! We arrived after hours, but doing a drive around looking for a site, the night manager helped us get settled. He was friendly/helpful. We camped at Travelers Woods in a Tent Trailer.

Bald Eagle State Park, Howard, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This is a return visit and one night stop on our way east. CG was not full and we had our choice of sites. Had to use the self check in since we arrived after the office closed (16:00 Hrs). It was an easy process, but I screw it up (can't read)- but thanks to the host - it got straighten out. It looks like water activity is the main attraction: boating, fishing, canoeing, etc. Not sure I would stay for more than a day since water activity is not my cup of tea. While the RR/shower were fairly clean, they are dated and need some TLC - mainly paint and floor mats in the shower. Benches would also help. Access to the park did NOT require an extra fee. (that's a plus) We will return if we're in the area. We camped at Bald Eagle State Park in a Tent Trailer.

This park is just OK... nothing special. You pay an entry fee just to get in the park. The bath house was convenient, but needs some updating. As usual, no hooks in the bath house, or shower mats/benches in the showers. We camped at Versailles State Park in a Tent Trailer.

East Harbor State Park, Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

It's been several years since we've camped here, but basically the same for all Ohio state parks. The Pros: 1) no entry free, 2) generally good facilities, 3) well maintained grounds, 4) good value S-Th with Buckeye Card. The Cons: 1) this park is hurting for help, 2) the RR & showers buildings are relatively new - they are not clean. i.e., bugs on the fixtures, leaves, grass on the floor & corners on the stalls and showers, the shower fixtures are the push button type. Who wants a warm shower on a "hot" day? 3) All Ohio SP never have enough hooks (if any) in the showers/bathrooms. General comments: we had a good site in sections C, however most of this sections is open without shade, we managed to find two trees that gave some sun protection. This section was not crowded, but started to fill up on Wednesday evening. All sections: A-B-C allow pets. Had a fellow camper play the Star Spangled Banner & Taps every night we were there. First time we've experienced that - ever. Very Nice. Good bike riding, the beach along Lake Erie is no more due to high water. We did visit Kelly's Island one day and rode bikes around the island. Visited Marblehead Light House and the surrounding area. We camped at East Harbor State Park in a Tent Trailer.

Rock Island State Park, Rock Island, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park, reasonable cost per nite, on the smallish side, but I like that. Nice clean RR & showers. Heard stories that showers did not have HOT water, but I did not experience that fact. Like the site pads, large space for camper & tow vehicle. Good space between sites where we camped, but others were closer. Lots to do, especially hiking. Little difficult for biking, but kids were doing that in our loop. Quiet during the evening, great for star watching. We camped at Rock Island State Park in a Tent Trailer.

Standing Stone State Park, Hilham, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Used this park as an over-nite. Small park, with water & electric at the site. Some sites would be difficult to level, but ours was not. Good space between each site. Hilly terraine around the campground. If rainy, some sites would be washed out. I personally don't care for the stone based sites, but it worked for one night. Can't speak for WIFI or TV because I don't go camping for those things. RR were convenient and clean, showers had good water pressure and were clean. We camped at Standing Stone State Park in a Tent Trailer.
