Crossville / I-40 KOA , Crossville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

This is not a bad KOA (maybe a bit pricey), but we did have a lot of confusion when we arrived and signed in. Our reservation had asked for a long pull through with cable/internet as we only wanted to stay the night. But the site they had reserved would not allow us to easily leave in the AM. The second site was very unlevel (although paved). They then had us head to the new section in the back, which although very nice, was not paved, did not have internet or cable. This really didn't bother us too much since we were only there for 1 night, but the rate was the same...so we still paid the top rate for less amenities. :-/ Otherwise, the new back section was actually pretty nice and has a lot of potential. We camped at Crossville / I-40 KOA in a Motorhome.

Sallisaw / Fort Smith West KOA, Sallisaw, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground and not even that pricey as some KOAs can be. They had all of the usual KOA amenities including great internet and cable. We had a long pull through for an overnight and was long enough for our 60+ft rv/toad. Everything is in very good shape would recommend it for anyone to spend a night or a week. We camped at Sallisaw / Fort Smith West KOA in a Motorhome.

Bobcat Creek RV Park, LLC, Sayre, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great overnight place. No significant amenities, although they do have good wifi. But not having many amenities is not always a bad thing. For a reasonable price they have easy to access sites, grass islands and good wifi. Just what you would want for an overnight. I rate this as an "8" not for its amenities, but value for the money. And the owner is very nice and helpful. We camped at Bobcat Creek RV Park, LLC in a Motorhome.

Santa Fe Skies RV Park, Santa Fe, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

With the good reviews, i expected more especially at that price point. The entrance is very nice, but rather narrow for a big rig. And although this is the high desert and no natural grasses grow, there are natural weeds all around. They have interesting art pieces around the park, but much of it is at least partially covered by natural overgrowth. The roads and sites are gravel, it was rather dusty. The sites are also pretty close together. There are few amenities, although they did have a nice office and places for folks to meet inside. They include wireless and coffee in the office (which is very nice). And be aware that their prices are going up soon - plus they raise their prices significantly around the time of the balloon fiesta, which we were a bit put off by. We camped at Santa Fe Skies RV Park in a Motorhome.

Fort Amarillo RV Resort, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This is clearly an older campground who needs a little TLC. We stayed for an overnight, which worked fine. It is not too much off I40 and not hard to get to. Be careful if you have a big rig as the entrance (and especially the exit) have dips and you can ground out. The inside roads were rutted and needed some work...especially with a recent rain, you ended up driving through mud puddles getting to your spot. We arrived on a Sunday - a day they are closed - but luckily we had reservations and they have a board that you could get your paperwork that told you what site you had and how to get to it. But keep in mind the shops and office are also closed on Sunday, but that didn't matter to us. They did have a nice sitting area and a small pond which was very nice. One more note, although you can get a big rig in here, you need to be careful navigating around. We camped at Fort Amarillo RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Bar H Bar RV Park, Seminole, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Great for an overnight stop. Pretty easy in and out, has a restaurant and fuel stop within walking distance (did not try restaurant). The paved sites were good - even for us at 60+ ft long. If there is a nitpick, it is that the roads were rutted and the gravel sites are not very nice. For $27 (with Good Sam discount), the paved sites are the ones to choose. I rate this as an "8" not for its amenities, but value for the money. We camped at Bar H Bar RV Park in a Motorhome.

Davy Crockett Campground, Crossville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very traditional, rustic campground that works well for families with trailers and smaller RVs. They did have a pool, a pond and many play areas, which would be good for kids. We came in for an overnight, which probably does not work as well for this campground as the roads are a bit windy and can be challenging to maneuver. It is not big rig friendly. We would not return, but this does not mean others may not enjoy this campground. We camped at Davy Crockett Campground in a Motorhome.

Timberlane RV Park & Resort, Bradenton, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $78.00
Overall Rating:

Nice campground with many trees and nice grass sites with two ponds that give the place a nice feel. That being said, it is a bit pricey for what you get as although they have wireless, you need to go to the office to use it, they do not have cable either, the sites are grass, no showers and you HAVE to check in before 5pm or you may not get in...not sure if there is any back-up plan for late arrival. I suspect they charge the going rate for the area as the park was basically full the entire time - mostly filled with seasonal folks. So, to be sure, it is a nice campground, the staff is very friendly and helpful and will take you to your site but just don't think it as a resort. Bring your own internet access. There is no cable. We camped at Timberlane RV Park & Resort in a Motorhome.

Inland Harbor RV Park, Darien, Georgia

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This is a basic campground with your usual standard hookups. They did have cable, although sites had to share boxes. Since we were only there one night, we did not use the cable. Our site was paved and plenty long for us (we are about 60ft) without disconnecting. Note that they only take cash or check. Easy off and on the interstate and would stop here again. We camped at Inland Harbor RV Park in a Motorhome.

Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground, Swannanoa, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

Last time we were at Mama Gerties was 2008 and wanted to come back to see the new upper sites. Mama Gerties is still a great campground that is very neat and well kept. The lower and middle sites are shaded and and relatively private. But since we came back to try out the upper sites, we stayed up there this time (we were in site 29) We liked these sites very much as they have great views- views you wouldn't get at many other campgrounds. And all of the sites have their pluses and minuses. Sites 27-32 have nice views without the premium pricing, but are pretty close together. Sites 33-37 have the best views of them all and are the nicest sites in the park...although they are preminum priced. Sites 38/39 are off to themselves, but their awnings do not face the nice view - something to know. Sites 40-45 have decent views, but not as good as 33-37 since there are sites in front of them. One more note on the high sites, the drive up and back down is tricky for big rigs. Ours is 44 ft and although we did not have any issues, it was a bit nerve wracking but doable if you go slow. Again, the campground and the grounds are immaculate and the staff is very helpful and friendly and we would definitely come again. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Motorhome.

Walnut Hills Campground (formerly Staunton / Walnut Hills KOA), Staunton, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park with everything you would want in a campground. Very neat and clean with pretty views. The only challenge we had is that we wanted full hookups and they sent us up the hill, which, although was very nice, the road up to that point was a bit challenging for our 44 ft motorhome, although we did make it. We just needed to careful. If you are over 40 ft - especially if just for an overnight - stay near the entrance which, although they don't have sewer hooks ups, would be much easier to get to. We camped at Walnut Hills Campground (formerly Staunton / Walnut Hills KOA) in a Motorhome.

Alton RV Park, Galloway, Ohio

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Small park with a very friendly host. That being said, it is best for a stop-over or if you are need a spot to park your RV while visiting Columbus. There are no amenities otherwise. They are big rig friendly, but the spot we had (44 ft MH), we were unable to push out our full wall slide as utilities were in the way and we were no able to move over. Again, OK for a stop over, but not much else. We camped at Alton RV Park in a Motorhome.

Fries New River Trail RV Park, Fries, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Great little campground. It is only 16 sites, but for what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in friendliness and a quiet environment. Since it is so small, and the owners are so friendly you quickly get to know most of your fellow campers. The week we were there, one of the campers had everyone over to their campsite for a get-together! The park itself is very nice and very quiet. It is truly somewhere to go to get away from it all. It does not have all of the amenities that many parks have (no pool, dog park, laundry, etc.), but that is not why you would go there, you go there to enjoy the quiet and friendliness of the park. That being said, they did have cable and pretty good internet included. If you want to go, reservations are advised as during our stay there was hardly much time when there was an open site; as soon as someone left, someone came in to take their spot. One note - There is NO AT&T cell and spotty Verizon coverage. I was able to use the Wi-Fi for my cell phone, so keep that in mind. Previous reviews mentioned the roads and yes, the roads are windy narrow country roads, but can be done. We visited in a 44 MH pulling a car and made it without issue. Just follow the directions on their web site. We camped at Fries New River Trail RV Park in a Motorhome.

Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA, Clarksboro, New Jersey

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Typical campground with the usual amenities that had just been switched over to KOA, so it may be on the verge of having improvements. That being said, it was not as neat as it could have been (i.e. - we had debris in our firepit, an old door matt embedded into the dirt, and they did not pick up downed branches after a storm). It also has many long-term residents, although their sites were clean. Their Internet was fair, but you needed to pay for it. Sites are a bit tight as I believe it is an older campground (we could not extend out awning due to a tree) Our cable was also not functioning, so I call it in, 4 hours later, I asked about it, but they sent a young staff member to look at it as the "official" cable technician had left. He was of no help. I ended up connecting to my neighbor's cable since they used satellite anyway. The campground was pricey, but I figured that was due to its proximity to Philadelphia. We camped at Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA in a Motorhome.
