Palo Duro RV Park, Canyon, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Another stay for me for business in Canyon. Management was very friendly, check in and reservation very easy. Management appears to be trying to make improvements. While sites are very close and traffic noise from the nearby interstate is significant, my 5 day stay was fine. Utility hook-ups were good although water connection was covered by a wooden box which had to be removed. Water pressure and electric were fine. Apparently, there are many permanent residents but most sites were kept in clean and uncluttered condition. Wi-fi was available but connection inconsistent. Over the air TV available from Amarillo and clear sky for satellite. While not a destination park by any measure, OK for an overnight or short stay. I will stay again because of convenient access to the town of Canyon. We camped at Palo Duro RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tex-Mex food at Joe's Taco Restaurant in Canyon was good. For everything else, try Feldman's.

Rose Valley RV Ranch, Silver City, New Mexico

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We had a pull through with a very nice sized site. Small trees and shrubbery between sites so sites are very private. A number of back in sites appeared to be unlevel but ours was fine. Good utilities, easy to reach. Fast, reliable wi-fi among the best we have encountered. Strong Verizon signal. Only downer was our site did not have a table or patio. Given all, we would stay again. We camped at Rose Valley RV Ranch in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Handy to all services in Silver City. Wal-mart, Albertsons, CVS, Walgreens nearby. Not far to historic downtown which has many restaurants, art galleries, and coffee shops. Be sure and take the 44 mile, 2 hour trip up to the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument. Well worth the hilly, curvy drive.

Boot Hill RV Resort, Alamogordo, New Mexico

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Long, level gravel pull through. Easy check in and reservations. Utilities easy accessible and worked fine. No cable but a few over the air tv stations and clear view for satellite. We have stayed here before and will again. Fairly close to busy highway but very little noise. Didn't try their wi-fi. Great place for an overnight. We camped at Boot Hill RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Berry Springs RV Park, Georgetown, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Mainly what we used to call a "trailer park", i. e. people permanently living there, not in manufactured trailers but in RVs. Most of the sites had junk scattered around and the rules were apparently not enforced, e. g. small fences erected with dogs left unattended, barking at every passing person or vehicle. A lot of decks, porches, etc. erected. Most sites left pretty junkie. Check in was friendly and utilities were ok but sites are pretty close together. We would look to stay somewhere else next time. We camped at Berry Springs RV Park in a Motorhome.

Mother Neff State Park, Moody, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

The crown jewel of Texas State Parks. Sites have been redone and are super. Wide, long, level concrete sites with great separation from your neighbor with a big sitting graveled sitting area with table and fire ring. Full utilities which is unusual for a Texas state park. The new TPWD website lets you choose your site when making reservations. There are only 20 sites, so reserve early. Friendly easy check in. Site fee does not include daily per person entrance fees. We have the annual park pass, so entrance fees are waived. Many hiking trails and a couple bird blinds. A great place to relax for a few days. Bring what you need, no stores nearby. Hopefully we can return for a long stay. The south end of the park is closed for now due to flood damage. We camped at Mother Neff State Park in a Motorhome.

Whistle Stop RV Resort, Abilene, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park with easy on/off I-20. Although on the interstate, road noise was not bad. Reservation procedure very easy and check-in friendly and fast. Long level gravel site with easily accessible utilities and many, clear cable channels. Small concrete patio with table. Very nice site separation. Wi-fi good although we noticed the antenna was next to our site. Restrooms very nice. The only knock is scenery or rather the lack thereof, but that will improve in time as the planted trees are new and haven't had time to grow much. Of course, being February, didn't try the pool but did notice they have a pickleball court. Many restaurants and shopping in the area. We really liked this park and think its the best choice in Abilene. We will happily stay again. We camped at Whistle Stop RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Albuquerque North / Bernalillo KOA, Bernalillo, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Typical KOA, overpriced, with sites crowded into every available inch. Site was okay, almost level, that jacks took care of. Had an escort to the site which is a nice touch. Plenty of cable channels and open view for satellite. Wi-fi worked well albeit a little slow at peak times. All utilities good and easily accessible. Easy access to I-25 but enough away so no road noise. We try to avoid KOA's but would stay here again if in the area. Of course, since close to large city, Verizon signal was strong. We camped at Albuquerque North / Bernalillo KOA in a Motorhome.

Bluffview RV Park (formerly Mom and Pops RV Park), Farmington, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Friendly greeting at small, no frills, basic park. Easy phone in reservation. Site was level, asphalt, a little narrow. No grass, just rocks between sites which are fairly close. If you have a pull through, be aware all utility connections are at the very rear of the site, so you will need a long electric cord or park far enough to the rear of the site. Our tow car was just barely out of the road so we could reach the electric box. But all utilities worked well and the wi-fi was very good. While not a destination park (no pool, hot tub, cable, etc.) a nice spot to spend the night. A little over priced for what you get, but we would stay again if needing a place for the night. Verizon signal was strong. We camped at Bluffview RV Park (formerly Mom and Pops RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Spanish Trail RV Park & Campground, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $57.00
Overall Rating:

Easy check in, no problem with reservation. Level pull through, just long enough for 36' motorhome. Room on the side to park the tow car. Utilities worked well and easily accessible. Sites fairly close but workable with grass strip and table. Excellent cable tv. While we didn't use them, the pool and hot tub looked really nice. Good Verizon signal. A lot of traffic noise from US 191. We had to leave one day early and the office cheerfully gave a refund for the day. We would stay again. We camped at Spanish Trail RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Portal RV Resort and Campground, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $72.00
Overall Rating:

The sites in the resort side are very nice, level concrete, wide, with a covered patio, but you pay for what you get. If they are worth the price depends on what you plan to do while there, i. e. if planning to see the sights, parks, and hike during the day, why pay the premium when you're not there. If you plan to use the pool and hot tub and sit out on the patio, maybe they are worth the price. The sites in the other part of the park are very close. Cable TV is very good with open look to the sky for satellite. Utilities worked well and are appropriately sited. We would probably stay elsewhere next time to save a little. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Golden Spike RV Park, Brigham City, Utah

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Sites and interior roads are very, very narrow. Propane tank is poorly placed if your tank is on the right side of your coach, i. e. you have to drive the wrong way down the one way street or you cannot reach the propane tank. Close to a busy highway so there is constant road noise. That said, cable TV is good. Hardly any reason to stay again. We would not. We camped at Golden Spike RV Park in a Motorhome.

Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park & Cabins, West Yellowstone, Montana

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

I second the comments from the last reviewer, i. e. very nice park, well laid out, super good sites, and best location with easy access to Yellowstone. Long, level gravel site with nice picnic table and sidewalk to front of coach. Know that you need a protective mat if grilling on the plastic table. Only demerits were no propane available, double image with cable TV, and cabin bunk beds are for kids only as only had a very thin plastic covered pad over wood slats for cushioning. We would stay in the park again but forego the cabin, although the shower in the cabin was very nice. We camped at Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park & Cabins in a Motorhome.

Helena North KOA (formerly Lincoln Road RV Park), Helena, Montana

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice commercial park handy to Interstate 15 but far enough away so there is no road noise. Very friendly greeting with helpful information about places to eat and things to see. Level, long, pull through site with handy utilities. Sewer connection is at the back of the site so a long hose may be necessary. Site was just a little narrow. Looked like several permanents but all were kept clean and neat. No cable, but 22 over the air stations and clear view for satellite. Verizon signal was strong. Little grocery with a deli just down the road and several places to eat nearby. We would gladly stay again and for a longer time. We camped at Helena North KOA (formerly Lincoln Road RV Park) in a Motorhome.

St. Mary / East Glacier KOA, St Mary, Montana

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

Nice KOA with beautiful views of surrounding mountains, long level pull through site, properly placed utilities with adjacent patio with furnished chairs, table and butane bar-b-que grill. Very nice camp store with a wide variety of supplies, including coffee and ice cream, and clothing and equipment. We had to leave two days early as snow was coming in and park cheerfully refunded one night's charge without us even asking for it. Easy to find right off highway 89 and very quiet with no traffic noise. East entrance to Glacier National Park a short drive away. No wifi, but a very strong Verizon signal. A beautiful place we hope to return. We camped at St. Mary / East Glacier KOA in a Motorhome.

Dick's RV Park, Great Falls, Montana

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Okay for a short stay. Wide interior roads. Wifi worked some of the time. Main demerit is the road noise with also occasion train and airport noise. First time in over a hundred RV parks when I have been asked for an ID before credit card accepted. Not very friendly greeting. Site was okay although slightly off level to the side. Couldn't get cable to work but may have been our system. Plenty of over the air channels and clear view of sky. Strong Verizon signal. We would stay again. We camped at Dick's RV Park in a Motorhome.
