Lake Powhatan Recreation Area, Asheville, North Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Narrow, winding, hilly road into the park with a few low limbs scraping the coach. Easy check-in. Recommend unhooking the tow car at the entrance as the interior roads are hilly and winding. Dense tree cover so no satellite reception possible. We received a few over the air channels, mainly NPR. Very private sites with large sitting areas. Our site was long and level. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and nice although there were just 2 of each for the loop so sometimes there was a short wait. Our site had electric service (50 amps) only, no water or sewer although there were several places to fill tanks and the one dump station was adequate with water hose to flush black tank. Some sites have full hook-ups. However a large number of sites appear to be for small units and some appeared unlevel. There is a short drive to restaurants, groceries, etc. and a outlet mall not far away. IMO although nice not a place for larger rigs. We camped at Lake Powhatan Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Fort Chiswell RV Park, Max Meadows, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Only an overnight stop for us, but this park had what we needed: easy off the interstate, friendly, easy check-in, reasonable rate, long, level site with full hook-ups. Sites are a little close but not like a KOA. They had cable TV, Wi-Fi that worked, and clear view for satellite with a few trees and grass. We would return. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Lake Fairfax Park, Reston, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

A big, beautiful park convenient for seeing D. C. if you don't mind a 50 minute metro ride into downtown. The metro station is only a 15 minute drive away. There are many restaurants, groceries, pharmacies, etc. nearby. The main drawback is that there is no water or sewer hook-ups at the sites, although there is water nearby and a convenient dump. The restrooms are good although they could be cleaner, i. e. cobwebs in the corners and a few dead bugs on the floors. The showers are really good, as you have a private room, with the shower, bench, lavatory, and toilet. Verizon signal was good. Clear view for satellite in our site and a few over the air stations available. Many of the shorter sites appeared un-level. We stayed 10 days and would return. We camped at Lake Fairfax Park in a Motorhome.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Camp Resort Williamsport MD, Williamsport, Maryland

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $66.00
Overall Rating:

A good first impression for any business is very important. This park failed that test. Unfriendly person at the front desk. Retrieved our reservation packet, handed over a 2 page form and said, in a hateful manner, "look this over and sign". When pointed out there was no place for a signature on the first page, said abruptly "2nd page". No explanation what the from was. Then "wait at the stop sign for an escort". No other info given. That experience was enough to give a bad impression. How about, "welcome, glad you're here". A large park with good sites, but not for us again. Hopefully, they will give the front desk persons some training on customer relations. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Camp Resort Williamsport MD in a Motorhome.

Village Scene Mobile Home Park, Hatfield, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

As the names says, a mobile home park with some sites for RVs. Sites are arranged so you must parallel park the RV. Our site was next to Koffel Road and had constant loud traffic noise. Had to sleep with ear plugs. The site was paved and level. They have a small laundry with 5 washing machines that take quarters only, $ 1.25 per load and 2 dryers. No change machine, you must go to the office for change. Really strange and old electric connection . No cable or other amenities, such as table, pool, playground, dog park, etc. The park is set up for permanent residents not travelers. Wi-Fi is advertised, but we could not get connected. We could not find any other good choice for visiting the city, but we would try somewhere else next time. We camped at Village Scene Mobile Home Park in a Motorhome.

Saugerties / Woodstock KOA, Saugerties, New York

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

Strangely arranged KOA with scattered sites carved out of the woods. Our site was long enough and level but due to some rain the afternoon before we arrived, our picnic table was in a pool of standing water that had not drained by the next morning. There was a lot of old equipment stored around and in sight. One of their rules is don't damage or put nails in the trees, but numerous of their own signs are nailed or screwed into the trees. Wi-Fi worked well probably because the park was nearly empty. Cable TV was provided but no satellite because of the trees. We would not stay here again. We camped at Saugerties / Woodstock KOA in a Motorhome.

Normandy Farms Family Camping Resort, Foxboro, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $68.00
Overall Rating:

A big, wonderful park with all the amenities. Cable TV, Wi-Fi that works, a huge activities center, pools, playgrounds, horseshoes, volleyball, softball and soccer fields, you name it, they probably have it. All the basics are provided, i. e. long, level, spacious sites with good utilities. They warn you about high water pressure, so be sure you have a regulator, or they can sell you one. Super friendly check-in with a wealth of local info, including how best to get downtown, even with suggested day trips and dining suggested. Yeah, it's a little more than your average park but it's not your average park and you get what you pay for and more. Wished we could have stayed longer. We camped at Normandy Farms Family Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Augusta / Gardiner KOA, Richmond, Maine

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

Typical KOA, overpriced for narrow, close sites. Sites are terraced up a hill. Utilities were good and site was long enough and level. No cable and slow but useable Wi-Fi. Several over the air channels. Heavily treed so forget the satellite. We camped at Augusta / Gardiner KOA in a Motorhome.

Rockwood Park, Saint John, New Brunswick

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Friendly check-in with discounted tickets to restaurant in the park. Big, pretty park with many walking paths. Pull through with full hook-ups on gravel, level site. Parking direction of pull through sites alternate direction, so your door opens to neighbor's picnic table. Sites are close but fairly wide. While Wi-Fi is provided, we could not get it to work reliably. Open view to the sky for satellite but couldn't get any over the air stations. We would return. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Motorhome.

Graves Island Provincial Park, Chester, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Pretty park on small island with trees and gorgeous views of surrounding bay. Easy and friendly check-in. Long, level site with easily accessible utilities. No sewer but convenient two island dump station. Short, narrow road into the park and single lane bridge, but very little traffic so easy to navigate even for large class A. Centrally located for short trips to Mahone Bay, Lunenburg, Peggy's Cove and Halifax. We camped at Graves Island Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

Arm of Gold Campground & RV Park, Little Bras d'Or, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Good Wi-Fi with friendly check-in. Lots of info about activities in the area. We had a long, 30 amp, pull through site with easily accessible utilities. Site was slightly off-level but nothing levelers couldn't adequately handle. Good site separation. Main demerit was constant traffic noise from nearby highway 105. Our second site, after storing the coach with them for 4 days, was a 50 amp pull through with no traffic noise but very close neighbors. Neither site had a on/off breaker for the electric which should have been there. We camped at Arm of Gold Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Murray Beach Provincial Park, Murray Beach, New Brunswick

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Lots of pretty. open space with full hook-ups but only 30 amps in our site. Site was long but a little off level. Room for back-in space was narrow with small ditch in the way for backing. Small drop offs on both sides of entrance from road into site. Good view to sky for satellite and a few over the air stations. Verizon signal not adequate for data but passable for voice. Good view of water and easy access to nice sandy beach. Easy check-in. We would stay again. We camped at Murray Beach Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

Headquarters Campground (Parks Canada), Fundy National Park, New Brunswick

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful site, deep into trees, long and level with plenty of room for tow car. Although there is no sewer, there was a convenient dump station nearby. No TV, either over the air or satellite, but who cares as it was very restful and quiet. While only 30 amp service was available didn't need the a/c as the weather was cool and cloudy even in mid-August. There was no Verizon service but we really enjoyed being off the grid for a few days. Many hiking trails were nearby. Although we saw only one other class A, we had no trouble getting into our back-in site or on the camp roads. We would happily return for a longer stay. We camped at Headquarters Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

Camping Transit, Levis, Quebec

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Very helpful personnel here, from giving suggestions about restaurants for dinner with easy to follow directions and free car service to Levis for a short ferry ride into Quebec City. Site was long and level, just a little close to the neighbor, but not bad. Utilities were good and conveniently located. They offer Wi-Fi for an additional $ 2.50 per day but we didn't try it. A nice little pool and good clubhouse. No cable but clear view for satellite and a few over the air stations. There is some traffic noise from AR 20, but not bad as they have a line of trees shielding the highway. We would return. We camped at Camping Transit in a Motorhome.

Nice park not far from a metro stop for easy travel into downtown Montreal. Adequate space between sites, which are long and level. utilities good. Excellent Wi-Fi, only slowed during peak times. Friendly and easy check-in. Gated entry with $ 20.00 deposit for entry card. Next to a golf driving range. Small pool and nice playground. No cable but clear view for satellite and many over the air channels. Constant traffic noise from Autoroute 20. We would return. We camped at Camping Alouette in a Motorhome.
