Sherwood Forest RV Resort, Kissimmee, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2019 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is a fair ways back off Rte 192 and is very quiet. It is huge. Lots of winter permanents. Attractive, well-maintained. Sites are long enough to park behind your rig and wide enough to park beside it. There are no patios or picnic tables or grills, just grass. It does get a little muddy when it rains but they allow outdoor mats. The week we were here, one of the pools was closed, the wifi was down the entire week for the entire campground, and our site (#165) got no cable service at all. We were at a rally, but we had our problems. They were late opening the hall so we could make breakfast for 30 people, the kitchen was stripped bare, not even a paring knife in sight, and there was no hot water. Also, the A/C could not be set lower than 72 but the hall never got below 75 degrees. It was hot when full of people eating hot food. We will look elsewhere next time. We camped at Sherwood Forest RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Out on Highway 192 is the entire world. Head to Woodsby's Cafe on South Orange Blossom Trail (5-6 miles) for an excellent, reasonably-priced diner for breakfast, lunch and early dinner (they close at 7:30 pm).

Berry's Grove Campground, Tyngsboro, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This park is not set up for short-term visits. It is a seasonal park. The first site we were offered was too un-level to use. The site we requested was "taken", although it remained empty for the duration of our visit. There is no cable, no wifi, and we could not get any DirecTV satellite service from our site. The road is deeply potholed and the roads leading to the site are very narrow and curvy. Be careful. Not recommended. We camped at Berry's Grove Campground in a Motorhome.

Ramblin' Pines Campground, Woodbine, Maryland

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

The entry to the park is gated. You push a button and wait for them to ask what you want. Every time. We were not offered a key card. We stayed in site TR-4, right behind the pool. Our site was not level - our front wheels were off the ground. No satellite, and while the cable service is analog, it has many channels. Water pressure was fine, wifi was excellent, pool was beautiful. All in all, it seemed pricey for what you get. I think we will look elsewhere next time. We camped at Ramblin' Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

Paradise Lake Family Campground, Spout Spring, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Be very careful when you turn off of Rte 460...the 1-mile long access road is VERY ROUGH - paved in potholes and patches. 5 mph is way too fast! The railroad tracks are fine, though. We drive a 38' Class A and tow a Jeep, and we had no trouble navigating the interior roads, contrary to a previous log. Back as far into your site as you can, as the utilities are all at the back of the site. We stayed in site 128, right next to the brand new laundry ($3 wash, $2.75 dry), and had excellent satellite TV and 2 bars on Verizon cell service, which we used for wifi the entire 3 days with no problem. We also had no problem with the water pressure. We would stay here again, but we would love it if someone would pave their access road! We camped at Paradise Lake Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Franklin RV Park & Campground, Franklin, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of the prettiest, cleanest parks we have ever stayed in. It is small, just 27 sites, but the camp host is fantastic! He has spent a lot of time planting flowers and beautifying the park. It is amazing. There are back-in sites for $12 less, but we opted for full sun in a pull-thru for our roof satellite. There is a pavilion for everyone's use, with a fireplace, picnic tables, and when we were here, there were vases of fresh flowers on every table! The park is full of those little attentions to detail. Highly recommended, and we will stay here again. We camped at Franklin RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Lake Tobesofkee Claystone Park, Macon, Georgia

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We were in site 40. It has a large, level concrete pad to park on. It was long enough for all 6 tires of our 38' motorhome to be on the pad. It is also wide enough to serve as a patio. There is a picnic table, a grill, and a fire ring. It is a pull-thru site. Utilities are all logically placed, including a sewer; however, the water hookup is below ground and the cable service was shut off throughout the park the night we were there. Management said they were "having an issue with the cable company". You may want to double-check if TV is important to you. As stated, there is no wifi, and we had only 1-2 bars of Verizon service at this site. But all this, plus a water view, for $25 a night! We've paid much more for much less! We camped at Lake Tobesofkee Claystone Park in a Motorhome.

Hollywood Casino Hotel & RV Resort, Joliet, Illinois

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very neat, clean, quiet RV park behind a hotel next door to the casino. There are a few pull-thru sites down the middle and back-ins all around the edge. There are very few trees. Satellite TV is easy! There is no cable and no sewers but there is a convenient dump station. Sites are just long enough for a 38' motorhome to fit on the concrete drive but there is enough gravel in the front of the site to park your car. There is a concrete patio and a picnic table. You get a $5 discount at any of the 3 casino restaurants, and free breakfast in the hotel lobby. We would stay here agin. We HAVE stayed here again! Wildwood RV Park and Campground, Taylors Falls, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

We made the mistake of reserving too late at this popular weekend retreat. As a result, we were relegated to the furthest spot in the park, with no 50-amp, no sewer, no wifi, no Verizon service, and the site was very un-level. There is also no laundry. Then, 30 minutes after we got all set up, a ranger came by to tell us we were parked sideways in our square corner site! So we had to unhook everything, slides, jacks, etc., and re-park at a right angle to our previous spot. We would not stay here again. We camped at Wildwood RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Buffalo Trails Campground, Williston, North Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a former KOA that has been updated (larger sites than usual). It is very convenient to town. The owner was very friendly and helpful. This being western North Dakota, there are virtually no trees on the campground, only around the edges. There are both back-in and pull-through sites, and full hookups. Wifi and all utilities worked great. We will stay here again. We camped at Buffalo Trails Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Note: Route 2 in eastern Montana (from mile marker 655 west to about mile marker 625) is IMPASSABLE in a motorhome. Anything above about 20 mph will shake your fillings out! We did the whole thing with 2 wheels on the shoulder and the flashers on. Horrible! Also, the Williston Brewing Company next to the El Rancho Motel is excellent. Much busier and more upscale than we expected. Excellent food and service!

Ross Creek RV Park, Medicine Hat, Alberta

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

The website says 50 amp but we couldn't find one. 30-amp only. Our site did not have a sewer. Most sites are open and sunny but there are trees around the edge of the park. Street is quiet. Host was very nice. Fine for a short stopover. We would camp here again. We camped at Ross Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.

The Pope Lease Pines, Drumheller, Alberta

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

It's a long ways out of town, then down a couple of dirt roads, then you drive through a farm. No one at the office, no host, no other campers! Sites (14) are all back-in, 30-amp only, and very narrow due to trees close on both sides (we couldn't put our slide out). We left. We camped at The Pope Lease Pines in a Motorhome.

2 Bar Lazy H RV Park & Campground, Butte, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Everything was satisfactory, especially the very nice office host. Sites 1 and 2 (up the hill in back, 50-amp, pull-thru) were very un-level; we had to put 2 blocks under each wheel on one side in site 2. There is no way we could have leveled in site 1. Wifi was good. Laundry only has 2 W/2D but only cost $1.25. No road noise that we noticed. We would come back. We camped at 2 Bar Lazy H RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Lake Park Campground, Rapid City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $57.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small park - just about 40 sites. Half of them are on the south side of the park, with limited satellite TV access and no 50 amp (30-20 amp only) and no cable. The other half are on the north side with 50 amp and cable but no chance of satellite TV. The 50-amp sites cost ten dollars more per night than the 30-amp sites. If you want cable, the remote offered is an extra $5. Huge trees throughout the park are beautiful but make for tight roads and turns. We did manage with out 38' motorhome, however. The park is run by some of the nicest people we have ever encountered in 18 years of RVing. They were so helpful, and just lovely. The park is very convenient to town and there is a wealth of things to do in a 50-mile radius. Make sure you know where your site is before you leave the office. The site numbers are very hard to see as they are painted on bricks on the ground behind the picnic tables! We camped at Lake Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Don't miss the lovely Norwegian Chapel of the Hills just down the street, with services on Saturday evening, a small museum, and a gift shop with a sod roof! Also within 50 miles are Spearfish Canyon, Sturgis, Deadwood, Lead, Hill City, Crazy Horse, and of course Mt. Rushmore. You can easily spend a week here and not see it all.

W.H. Lyon Fairground, Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We liked this park. There was nothing going on at the fairgrounds, so it was very quiet. There was a line of RV's parked along the west fence by the highway, but the hosts parked us by the buildings on the east side and we had plenty of room on the grass with no one near us. The hosts met us at the gate and showed us to our site. Then we had a nice visit with them. They were very personable. All utilities worked well, with 50 amp/W/S and good wifi. We would camp here again. We camped at W.H. Lyon Fairground in a Motorhome.

I-29 Hwy 34 Campground, Pacific Junction, Iowa

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

The park is right on I-29. Traffic noise was noticeable. A one-mile gravel road leads to the park. It was very dusty with some potholes. There is no office or host. You put your cash or check in an envelope in a locked box at the entrance. Interior roads are full of potholes. The site (#45) was reasonably level, pull-thru, with good 50 amp-W-S. There is no shade. Shaded sites are all filled by permanent residents. There is wifi but there is no way to get the password, as there is no host or office. The price is very low - $20. If you want a quieter non-dusty environment, go 12 miles northwest to Haworth Park in Bellevue, NE. We stayed there last year and preferred it. We camped at I-29 Hwy 34 Campground in a Motorhome.
