Indian Point RV Resort, Gautier, Mississippi

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here before, but always in the concrete pull-thru sites. This time we have a new shorter rig. When making reservation we were asked if we needed 50 or 30 amp. I replied only needed 30 amp. When we arrived we were had been put into a back-in spot that wasn't long enough for the rig. After trying to call the office, at 5:30 PM, my husband walked back up to the office. We were put into one of the premium concrete pull-thru sites and had to pay the additional $5, but worth it so we didn't need to unhook. We will stay here again but make sure to specify pull-thru. This park is lots of permanent residents or those that come for the nearby fishing. Staff was pleasant. Roads were easy to navigate. We camped at Indian Point RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Azalea Acres RV Park, Robertsdale, Alabama

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed at Azalea Acres several times on our way to and from Florida and once again it didn't disappoint. They were full and we got the last spot for the night. We were delayed because accidents and weather but when we exited the interstate we called and a staff member met us on a golf cart and escorted us to our site. Very quiet park. Large concrete pad. We camped at Azalea Acres RV Park in a Motorhome.

Canyon Lake RV Resort (55+ park), Mission, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We camped here at the invitation of our friends who were staying a month. Our rate was $215 for a week. This is an old park and in need of some sprucing up. There is a lake in the middle of the area and makes for a nice walking trail. There are lots of activities and meals for purchase several times a week. It is in a quiet area and there is a Walmart and HEB fairly close. It appears that many residents return every year. The folks around us were very friendly. There isn't much to do in Mission except the Butterfly Museum. Harlingen, McAllen and SPI are all about 1 hour away. We camped at Canyon Lake RV Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Highway 6 RV Resort, Houston, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

This park is primarily permanent and Winter Texans. This is a fairly new park and the trees are still pretty small. The grounds are well kept. All sites were neatly kept. Nice wide roads that are easy to maneuver. This park is gated. Some of the sites encircle a man-made lake. The laundry is at the front of the park and uses credit card instead of coins. We only discovered on our last night that our code did not work as we had always followed someone in. The trash dumpster was located quite a hike from our site. We were instructed to park our rig so that none of it overhung onto the grass. The area was quite and we are returning in April. If this park is in the area you want to visit I would suggest you book your site early. We camped at Highway 6 RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Jellystone Park at Whispering Pines (formerly Whispering Pines RV Reso, Tyler, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

This is the second year we have taken grandchildren for 4 nights. There is lots for them to do: miniature golf, fishing, tennis, basketball, shuffleboard, horseshoes, swimming, hay rides, laser tag etc. During the summer if you go during the week it is quieter and there is a free daily activity for the children: tie dye on Monday, gem mining on Tuesday, ceramic painting on Wednesday, and Laser Tag on Thursday. This year they have added a wonderful splash park to the family pool area. The $55 per night is just for the site. On top of that is a $5 per person/night charge and that includes adults and children. So our actual nightly cost was $80. A little pricey, but the grandchildren look forward to this outing with the grandparents. We camped at Jellystone Park at Whispering Pines (formerly Whispering Pines RV Reso in a Motorhome.

Lebanon / Cincinnati NE KOA, Lebanon, Ohio

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here 6 nights. This was the closest place available while we were in area helping our daughter. Our site was electric/water only. The campground was full over the weekend, but very quiet during the week. Staff was very pleasant and allowed us to go night to night after our initial stay was complete. The sites were pretty close together. The real challenge was the route to check-in. It was up a hill to the office and back down again. We were escorted to our site. As others have said the best approach to the park is to drive up Neil Armstrong Way and come to the park on Franklin Road, so you make a left hand turn into the park rather than a sharp right hand turn. We camped at Lebanon / Cincinnati NE KOA in a Motorhome.

Topsail Hill State Preserve, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Another wonderful stay at this gem of a state park. Sites become available 11 months before your stay and go very quickly. We were in loop 103 which features sites that are very private. A quick walk to the shuttle stop to get to the boardwalk to the beautiful white sand beach. When we were there the shuttles were starting at 9:00 and ending at 7:30. The shuttle driver checked to make sure that everyone that wanted a ride back to the campground after watching the sunset was given a ride. This was appreciated. We camped at Topsail Hill State Preserve in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Goatfeathers is a great space for lunch. Under $10 for a Goatfeathers salad and 1/2 shrimp po'boy. The Blue Angels practice Tuesday and Wednesday at Pensacola NAS March to November. Allow at least 2.5 hours to get there, thru security and walk out to the viewing area. Set your GPS to the West Gate.

Texas T Campground, Cornersville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here while traveling I-65 north. Campground entrance is just off the highway to the right. Sites were long. We had no difficult leaving the park in the morning - an easy left turn and immediate right back on the road. Laundry has just one washer and one dryer. $1.50 to wash and $1.50 to dry payable at the office or, I suppose, on the honor system after office is closed. Wifi was good. They have limited cable TV so we decided to use our satellite. Staff was very friendly, both on the phone and in person. We camped at Texas T Campground in a Motorhome.

Stagecoach Station Campground, Benton, Kentucky

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is just a few years old. It is owned by a family and the host is the owner's father. We both enjoyed visiting with him. We were escorted to our site. Access is down a dirt road. The firepit is one that was built of stone. The downside is that there are no sewers but there is a dump onsite and a honey wagon visits each week. Close to the road so there was some highway noise. Perfect spot for an overnight stay. We camped at Stagecoach Station Campground in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed just one night. Roads are tight and sites are very close. Although close to the road there wasn't much road noise. The WiFi was adequate. Disappointed in the cable TV. It was over the air channels from the nearby markets. Staff was friendly. We camped at Mount Pleasant KOA in a Motorhome.

River Town Campground, Vicksburg, Mississippi

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Easy access about 5 miles south of I-20. Ignore the directions from GPS. Continue south on Hwy 61, park is on east side, make a U-turn across the median just past the park. We were put in campground hosts site for just one night. Staff was very friendly. Mostly full time residents with a few spots for over nights. Clean. Although close to the highway it was quiet. Hitchin Post Corral and Campground RV Park, Cottondale, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Lovely park. Owners met us as we drove in. Escorted us to our site. Put a mat down to help keep the sand out of the rig. Gave us some firewood and my husband and 2 grandsons had a great time with that. There are playgrounds and things for the little campers to do. We were in a pull-thru site, #8, that was set among the trees with the exit road running by our side. This site was further from the interstate and was very quiet and the next morning made for an easy exit. There are no bathrooms, but this campground has everything else you need for an enjoyable stay. The owners had just put down fresh asphalt to improve the interior roads. We camped at Hitchin Post Corral and Campground RV Park in a Motorhome.

Antique Village RV Park, Simsboro, Louisiana

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Good place for an over-night stop. Called for a reservation and all the woman wanted to know was when we would arrive and the kind of RV we had. When we arrived she escorted us to a pull-thru site with our front windshield looking at the pond that had been marked with a cone. Some of the sites have wooden patios. We did not use any of the facilities. Our site was clean and tidy but there are some full-time residents whose sites could use some attention. Our site had good AT&T service and clear sight for Dish. There was a road noise and an occasional train. The roads were dirt and gravel and some grade to and from the loops. We would stay there again. We camped at Antique Village RV Park in a Motorhome.

Birmingham South Campground, Pelham, Alabama

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here two nights while visiting the area. Only reserve for the number of nights you wish to stay there are no refunds for early departures. This park is off the highway but there are train tracks nearby. While staying at this park there was an outbreak of severe thunderstorms/tornado. The office staff told us where to go if we felt unsafe in the RV. The cable TV was very good and local channels kept us informed. Our site was level and had a concrete patio and picnic table. We did not use any of the facilities. We camped at Birmingham South Campground in a Motorhome.
