Flying Flags RV Resort & Campground, Buellton, California

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $66.00
Overall Rating:

One night stay to break up our trip from central California back to San Diego. We had a pull through site, easy to access and level. The grandchildren enjoyed the water play area and playground; grandma forgot to pack a swim suit so no pool use. There were LOTS of families enjoying the family pool though. Not so great: I realize this campground caters to larger rigs with full hook-ups, but it seems strange that there are only 2 restroom areas (although I think one was under construction/renovation) and only one shower facility. I don't count the outside shower by the family pool. We camped at Flying Flags RV Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Hearst San Simeon State Park, San Simeon Creek Campground, Cambria, California

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Love: Upper loop our favorite, good room between the back-in spaces, restrooms close by. Plenty of trails for walking. Enjoy the sounds of frogs, birds and surf. Plenty of ocean breeze! Lower area sites are closer together but sheltered from wind by trees & bushes. Not so much: Only 2 shower rooms for this loop, one was out of order and the other could not be turned off. The water did get hot enough, but shower head had no spray; more like using a hose. It's quite a hike to get to the beach and no dogs allowed on this stretch of beach to protect the endangered white plover bird. We camped at Hearst San Simeon State Park, San Simeon Creek Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The San Simeon Ocean Discovery Center at William Randolph Hearst memorial beach is small but packed with information about the local marine wildlife and area history. We love to stock up on jams & pies at the Linn's Fruit Bin Farmstore on Santa Rosa Creek Road. The road is narrow and curvy; don't attempt with trailer in tow or large motor home! Continue on the road for great scenery and views of the coast.

RV Ranch of Keene, Keene, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This was our 2nd stay here. We have family in Cleburne and lucky for us this is the closest park. Lovely park, roomy sites, nice hookups, reasonably level, quiet, but the best feature is the laundry/bathroom/shower facility in the adult section. Inside the large laundry area, there are 10 gender neutral spacious rooms each with a shower, sink and toilet. Nicely appointed with a bench & plenty of hooks and air conditioned to boot! We camped at RV Ranch of Keene in a Travel Trailer.

White's City RV Park, Whites City, New Mexico

Date of Stay: June, 2012 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We were concerned after reading other reviews, but took a chance given it's so close to the Caverns. Though the park is far from luxurious, the sites are level, have fairly new covered picnic tables and decent hook ups. The bathrooms, well, some effort is being made. Women have two shower stalls, but only a curtain. There is no locking door and no place for clothing or shower tote. Also, almost unbearably hot because there is no exhaust fan. Men have the gym class arrangement. It is certainly unique, but my husband shrugged it off. We camped at White's City RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
