Fremont Jellystone Park, Fremont, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $80.00
Overall Rating:

Camped here over a weekend. It was a busy time near OshKosh for the air show and rock festivals. At the last minute, this was the nearest campground and all we could find. The office was quite accommodating in helping locate spots for my family to camp. We were placed down by the lake. As you can imagine in July in Wisconsin, the mosquitoes were as large as birds, but we knew that going in. There were plenty of activities for our family and my kids had a blast. Waterslide, fishing, and the pool were all big hits. Our site was right on a channel near the lake, so mud was a problem in the rain, but overall the site was level and large enough to give us space. My parents however, had a very unlevel site away from the water, but fewer bugs to go with it. It was a weekend and the entire campground was full. Despite this, the facilities I thought were clean and everyone was very nice. We did not use wifi. My only complaint is the cost of our site. $80 /night seemed to be expensive, but there was a lot to do. If you plan to sit around a campfire and do nothing else, not sure this is your place. If you have kids who want to run around, swim, fish, etc., it is probably worth it. I would stay again for a long family weekend. We camped at Fremont Jellystone Park in a Motorhome.

There is a restaurant right on the lake called the Naughti Turtle. Good food and ambiance. A place to consider if you planned on going out for lunch or dinner. They have live music and a bar to go with it.

Shipshewana Campground North Park, Shipshewana, Indiana

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Arrived late. Owners very accommodating. Site was level. Plenty of room at the sites and enough space for the tow. Fire pit and bench at our site. Sites were gravel and level. Easy CG to get too. We arrived the first week of the season and the CG seemed ready to go. Wifi was adequate. Some of our family stayed in the cabins. The cabins were quite nice. We camped at Shipshewana Campground North Park in a Motorhome.

CG is 5 minutes out of town. Plenty to do for a long weekend. We ate at several Amish restaurants which were all quite good. There are several strip malls in town selling Amish items. Be aware that it is a dry county. They do not sell alcohol in town. Nearest liquor store is at least a 15 minute drive. Other than that, Shipshewana seemed like a quiet, cozy, sleepy town.

Glen Rouge Campground, Toronto, Ontario

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Best thing about this campground is the proximity to Toronto. We stayed here while visiting the city. Be aware, there is no sewer or water. Most sites seemed very level and all sites were spacious. Unfortunately, our site was all mud with very little grass. Outhouses were what you would expect. Shower house was dirty. I would stay here only while visiting Toronto. The campground is a nice place to park the RV while visiting Toronto attractions. Not much else. We camped at Glen Rouge Campground in a Motorhome.

Branches of Niagara Campground and Resort, Grand Island, New York

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

A nice campground. Plenty of activities at the campground and near Niagara Falls. It is a perfect place to stay while visiting the American side of the falls. Sites were level and spacious. Campground was very clean. Showers were clean. Kids had a great time at the campground store and activity shed. We also did some zip lining. I would definitely stay here again. American Wilderness Campground, Grafton, Ohio

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $57.00
Overall Rating:

Where do I start? Campground reportedly nearest Cleveland. City is at least 30 minutes away so keep that in mind. Campground not easy to get to. Multiple rural road closures on way to CG .ade the trek difficult with a tow. Passed several nearby correctional facilities in the nearby town. On arrival, front desk staff was quite rude and unwelcoming. CG was very nicely kept however. Sites were level and spacious. Beach and ponds were nice and the kids enjoyed them. Facilities were terrible. One functional shower for the entire CG. Had to wait 20 minutes to get into it. Worst part of our stay was the electric. CG power outage occurred while we were visiting Cleveland. It was a 94 degree day. Our dogs were in the air conditioned RV when it went out. THANK GOD our neighbors had the sense to ask the front desk to call us. We had to bail on our afternoon plans and hurry back from Cleveland crossing our fingers that we wouldn't find our pets dead. Fortunately, they weren't despite the interior of our RV at 97 degrees. Seasonal renters mentioned that they lose electricity once a month. Upon complaining to the front desk, it only took a matter of minutes for them to refund my money. Power was out at our area of campsites for at least 5 hours. Made for a miserable experience. I would not stay here again. Lots of potential at this place, but they have too many kinks to work out. We camped at American Wilderness Campground in a Motorhome.

Excellent CG. We were passing through the area on the way to Canada. Great family atmosphere with plenty of activities for the kids. Sites well maintained. Facilities were clean. Our site was level. We would definitely return again for a longer stay if in the area. We were actually disappointed we had to leave so soon. We camped at Port Huron KOA in a Motorhome.

Argyle Lake State Park, Colchester, Illinois

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Park was quiet and clean. Facilities were adequate, what we expected from a state park and rarely used them. Shower house was closed at this time of year. Very peaceful, tucked away campground. Gravel, spacious sites. Plenty of shade in the back of the campground. All sites were back-ins. Plenty of room for my 35ft motorhome with a tow. We camped at Argyle Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

RV Station, Colbert, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Not sure what to say. We stayed here overnight while passing through. We asked for a late check-in and it seemed like ownership didn't understand what that was. No info was laid out for us. We were not given any bathroom codes or wifi codes. They just took our info and gave us our site info via phone. Site was somewhat unlevel. All gravel. Park was unkempt with many older motorhomes and long-timers. We did not use facilities because we could not get in them. Didn't have wifi password so we couldn't use it either. Picnic table had spray paint all over it like it was a work bench for an artist. Overall, I am glad it was a quick stop. Next time however, I would go a few farther miles down the road and stay somewhere else. We camped at RV Station in a Motorhome.

Gulf Waters RV Resort, Port Aransas, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $63.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for about a week over spring break. I can't really find anything bad about the place. All concrete pads. Sites are level. Easy access maneuvering about the campground. Sights are enormous and many already come with covered sinks and picnic tables. This is not a campground but truly a resort. Pools were immaculate. Hot tub clean. Bathrooms were spotless. There is a requirement on Motorhome age and size so be wary of that. Wifi was excellent. Campground is 6 miles out of town. You can access town via a beach road or highway. Access to the beach was easy. By far, one of the nicest, if not the nicest, campground I have stayed at. Only complaint I can make is that sight 701 is near the office and a higher traffic area. Had to corral kids out of the road very often. Beach is huge and not maintained near the campground. You can drive on the beach however and even have beach campfires if you wish. The beaches that are maintained are closer to town but accessible as well if you take the golf cart ride that way. Loved this place. I would highly recommend this campground. It is well worth the price and I would suspect that as this area builds up, the price will go up with it. We camped at Gulf Waters RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Rent a golf cart and take the beach road. You can drive the golf cart everywhere except the highway. You can take it into town down the beach (about 20 minutes). They are allowed on roads, in drive-throughs and all over town. We took it to restaurants and shopping as well. It was kind of fun and different. Mustang Island is a nice state park to visit. The USS Lexington and Corpus Christi is about 40 minute ride away and worth a visit.

North Crest RV Park, Waco, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed overnight passing through the area. Easy access off the interstate. Park seemed very full. Many long timers who worked in the area stay here. Park manager was very helpful in escorting us to our spot and even helping with the hook-ups. It was a level sight with easy access through the campground, even with a tow. Park and facilities were very clean despite the projects they had been working on. Wifi was easy to use and open. I had several concerns about the campground and would give it a 10 if it were not for these small worries. I made reservations months in advance (it was spring break). During that time, I included that I would be arriving late. There was no email confirmation sent, nor any follow-up phone calls. When I finally made it to the campground, they had no idea that we were coming in. Our spot was so level because it was a car port with full hook-ups. I think management simply forgot our reservation, but did go out of their way to make up for it. There was no receipt given nor maps. But this seemed inconsequential because of the campground tour they gave us. Campground staff was also very quick to mention that we were the only campers with kids and they needed to be quiet. Despite these small concerns, campground staff easily accounted for the negatives with their personality, helpfulness and positive attitude. I would come back again. We camped at North Crest RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stanton / Meramec KOA, Stanton, Missouri

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

We camped here overnight on a trip down south. Easy access off the interstate. Sites were level and it was easy to maneuver in and out of the campground with a tow. We were a late arrival and accommodations, maps and information was all provided to us out front in the drop box. We used the facilities and they were adequate and clean. We left early in the morning and navigating out of the park was easy. Overall, definitely a nice overnight stop. It may be a little pricey for just an overnight stop, but it worked out well. We would stay again if passing through the area. We camped at Stanton / Meramec KOA in a Motorhome.

Kamp Komfort RV Park & Campground, Carlock, Illinois

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed while visiting a child attending ISU. Nearest campground to Normal. 15 minute drive into town. Keep that in mind because there is nothing else around. Conveniently located off interstate 74. Significant downside is the interstate noise. It is loud.

Campground overall was very well maintained. Grass and shrubbery all neatly cut. Sites were gravel and all were level. Facilities were very clean and well maintained. Staff was friendly. There is not much to do at the campground in terms of activities or playgrounds. There is a pool that appeared well kept and clean. WiFi was actually half way decent.

Only other complaint besides the interstate noise I had was the extra charge for kids. I had 4 kids with me and they charged extra for 2 of them. Not a big deal if there were things to do for them, but the only thing they had was a swingset and open field. Why the extra cost? Not a real destination campground, but I would stay again because it is near Illinois State and it is clean and a well cared for campground. I would also stay if passing through the area. We camped at Kamp Komfort RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Stayed overnight while passing through. Easy to access of interstate. Shopping and restaurants nearby. Cabins on site. Sites were level with all the necessary hook-ups. Gravel sites. Garden of the Gods Campground, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Park was centrally located near Manitou Springs and Colorado Springs. Near lots of attractions which was nice. A little tricky getting in and out of for a big rig with a tow, but doable. Downside about location is that it seems to be in the heart of marijuana central. Many dispensaries nearby. Can smell the weed nightly throughout the park. I am not sure if this is a campground phenomena or a Colorado issue, but it was off-putting to us. The sites were not terribly level. Neighbors sewer, water and electric run through your site as well. Sometimes downwind this smelled too. Sites were all gravel. No firepits but picnic table included. Despite the average sites, the view was spectacular. Staff was generally nice. There was one staff member that was grouchy and even asked my 17 year old daughter if she 'smoked'. Facilities were just ok. Seemed that the nicer shower house was always closed for cleaning. Bathhouses were average, but high use so I was not expecting much. WIFI was nonexistent, also not a surprise with the high numbers of users. There was a nice park and two pools for the kids. But with all the outdoor activities nearby, we did not utilize them much. There was dinner and breakfast served on various days at the campground. It looked delicious, but we never tried it out. We were too busy sightseeing. Overall, the campground's highlight is the location. Tons to do in the area. I would consider staying again, but may look elsewhere first and use this place as a fall back option. We camped at Garden of the Gods Campground in a Motorhome.

Pony Express RV Park, Julesburg, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed for one night passing through. That is about all you can do here. Easy access. Across street from Colorado welcome center. Interstate noise was minimal. Area is sparsely populated as mentioned in other reviews, so do not expect much. There is a store on site but it was never open during our stay. Upon our arrival (in the middle of the day) the office and store was locked and empty. The manager (nice guy) dropped by several hours later after we chose our own spot and said "That's how we do it around here! Just pick your own spot." Sites were dirt/grass and level. Hook-ups were fine. There are very few spaces at this campground and not all have 50 amp, so you are very limited on site selection. It's an open field with some hookups arrayed in a u-shaped pattern. There is no shade and on a Colorado summer day it became quite warm. Despite this, there was plenty of room and the kids had a great time with open fields and grass to run around in. WiFi was listed, but we were never given a code nor used it. There are no facilities to use. No pools or playgrounds. The welcome center across the street had 24-hour restroom access which I found easy enough to use. I felt it was a bit pricey for what you got here. But that being said, there was some attraction to being out in the middle of nowhere with hardly anyone around. I would stay again, my family probably would not. We camped at Pony Express RV Park in a Motorhome.
