Megunticook Campground, Rockport, Maine

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Nice campground on the ocean. Sites are pretty close to each other, and it was pretty dreary on a rainy day. The pool was just so-so, it may have been a plastic in-ground pool with some plastic chairs around it. The staff is friendly and hardworking. And yes, there is a $10 charge at the pump out station! We camped at Megunticook Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Endless Caverns Resort, New Market, Virginia

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This was an overnite stop on our way north. The personnel were friendly, and the campground was clean. There are hiking trails, and a pool which was not open yet. The grounds are hilly, and the sites are roomy, though not terribly level. Good for a stop along the way home. We camped at Endless Caverns Resort in a Travel Trailer.

James Island County Park, Charleston, South Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is an outstanding county park. The personnel are pleasant and helpful, and the park is beautiful. It is also very convenient for visiting Charleston. You can bike, hike, fish, or just relax. We stayed at a site for one night, and in overflow the next night. We camped at James Island County Park in a Travel Trailer.

Lakeview RV Park, Citronelle, Alabama

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

This is a really beautiful park, located on a small lake. Our campsite was on the lake, with a view of the sunset. However, there are no hiking paths nor any bicycle paths. There is a small beach which is not terribly appealing. There was a volleyball net up and a horseshoe game set up. There is some fishing, but very few fish. The showers and washing machine area were terribly old and very unappealing. We enjoyed our campsite, but actually left early because there was so little of the activities we enjoy, like hiking. The nearby town was run down and unappealing. We camped at Lakeview RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Pontchartrain Landing, New Orleans, Louisiana

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

As others have said, this is a good spot if you are visiting New Orleans. When it rains, it is a mass of small and large puddles. The road and neighborhood approaching the marine/campground is beyond description, not in a good way. The staff really try to provide good service. The pool needs maintenance and is not heated. The hot tub is above ground and is crowded with four people. Internet and Verizon service was passable, but WiFi did not work. Sites are close and without any trees or shrubs. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Travel Trailer.

Bogue Chitto State park, Franklinton, Louisiana

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful park, with a great five mile loop trail, and plenty of roads for bicycles. There are also small ponds for fishing, and even internet service. The sites have plenty of room, with some trees and shrubs. The showers are old, but mostly clean. We stayed in the upper campground, but we thought the lower campground had more charm, with many sites on a small lake. We camped at Bogue Chitto State park in a Travel Trailer.

Riverbend Hot Springs, Truth Or Consequences, New Mexico

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $69.00
Overall Rating:

Riverbend is a semi-formal, cultivated hot spring resort on the Rio Grand River. There are about 8 pools all together, of varying temperatures. The pools are kept very clean, with large seating areas adjacent to them, facing the pools and the river. Coffee, tea, ice water and towels are always available for the guests. Because we stayed at one of their RV sites, we had full access to the facilities. The people who greeted us and gave us a short orientation were friendly and welcoming. Using the pools in the evening was especially enjoyable, with magnificent lighting effects all around the bathers. In the morning, coffee was offered as we soaked! The RV sites are across the street from the facility. We camped at Riverbend Hot Springs in a Travel Trailer.

Faywood Hot Springs, Faywood, New Mexico

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

If you like a "laid back " feel, but still a clean, respectful environment, you will really like Faywood. The pools themselves are made with cement, but the water is wonderfully soothing and leaves one's skin smooth and healthy looking. There are both clothing optional pools as well as clothing required pools. Our campsite was comfortable and close to the main pool house. It is #1. The welcoming staff is friendly and relaxed. The RV Park is not really near much, so come prepared with food, etc. We camped at Faywood Hot Springs in a Travel Trailer.

Santa Fe Park RV Resort, San Diego, California

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We used to stay in this park every year when we came to the west coast. Every year it gets worse, and after this visit we have decided not to return. Making a reservation is fine, and the reception procedure is acceptable. From there, it goes downhill. There are residents living there with the most amazing junk, not in a good way, around their motor homes. This year there was actually a tear drop trailer with a tent behind it as well as a portable building attached to the trailer! We did not use the pool or hot tub, which we had enjoyed in the past, because they were not clean. The last day of our stay, they did look a little better. The laundry area is large and fairly clean, with the exception of the double laundry sink, which was in an abominable state. I can't imagine why they have a two hour break between check out and check in. As far as I could tell, there was no maintenance done between guests leaving and guests arriving. The barbecue grill had trash in it, and the picnic table looked as if it had not had dusting, sweeping, or cleaning in years. I noticed these problems in a number of sites. Also, be aware that the close proximity of a major highway as well as train tracks takes away from a relaxed visit. We do not plan to return. We camped at Santa Fe Park RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Pala Casino RV Resort, Pala, California

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

I believe this park is only about two years old. It is beautiful, and the pool, hot tub, and showers were kept in tip top shape. The people at the front desk and the check in area were friendly and helpful. It is a typical park in that the spots are fairly close together, but there is landscaping planted which will fill in over time. I would definitely return if I am in this area again. We camped at Pala Casino RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Belle Campground (NPS Campground), Twentynine Palms, California

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $8.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great campground in a wonderful national park. It is small, and many of the sites are surrounded by beautiful rock formations. The hiking in the park is extraordinary. Perhaps due to a lack of support from the federal government, there were no ranger programs while we were there, the handout material on the park was from a season or two ago, and there was a general lack of enthusiasm from the rangers. Of course, this is dry camping, but the only pump out station for this large park is at the Black Rocks campground and really is not close to the main part of the park. We camped at Belle Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Catalina Spa RV Resort, Desert Hot Springs, California

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

I understand that this park has a new owner, and many improvements have been made. Unfortunately, they need someone in the reception area who knows how to make guests feel welcome. However, the improvements that have been made in the areas of the pool, hot tub, and shower rooms are outstanding. There are high end fixtures and sinks, lots of tile outside, and great evening lighting. It was odd that there were only two showers in the shower area, and only two washing machines in the laundry, since this is a large park. Hopefully these improvements will continue, and more of these facilities will be added. The sites are super close, although there are some bushes between them. With the P.A. rate, we would consider returning in the future. We camped at Catalina Spa RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tucson / Lazydays KOA, Tucson, Arizona

Overall Rating:

This is an excellent KOA, close to Tucson. The pool and hot tub are well looked after, the showers are clean, and the sites are spacious. Visitors are welcome to pick oranges, lemons, and grapefruit from the trees at the sites. This is a big park, with many sites fairly close together. Picacho Peak RV Resort (55+ park), Picacho, Arizona

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Really nice sites at this park, with picturesque white fencing around a sitting area, which affords some privacy. The pool and hot tub were clean and well maintained. We paid $202 for a week. However, if you are sensitive to outside noise, particularly fast moving traffic or a train, you may not enjoy your stay. There is some easy hiking out in the back of the park, and a state park is just down the road, for some good hiking. We camped at Picacho Peak RV Resort (55+ park) in a Travel Trailer.
