Holt's Shell RV Park, Gila Bend, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This park is no longer Passport America, but it's still a good value for the money. We got a huge site at the end of a row. It backed up to the parking area for semis, but even though there were many truckers parked there overnight, the truck noise didn't bother us or keep us awake. Staff in the Shell station are very helpful and friendly. Dish satellite TV, Verizon MiFi and AT&T cell phones all worked well here. We will definitely stay here when we come through Gila Bend again. We camped at Holt's Shell RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Blue Sky Ranch RV Park (formerly Arizona Sands RV Park) (55+ Park), Yuma, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

For the most part, this was an excellent RV park. Sites were large with plenty of space for parking a vehicle next to your camper. Activities included shuffleboard, curling, bocce ball, putting green, pickle ball and a pool. All were in top notch condition. The water in the pool and hot tub was crystal clear. Hosts were very helpful and residents were friendly. Dish satellite TV, Verizon MiFi and AT&T cell phones all worked well here. Only problem with this park was the road noise at night. I swear, it never stopped - even at 3 am. Usually, this doesn't bother us, but it was so loud, it kept us both awake. Hopefully, it's quieter in the back of the park. We were at the beginning of the row and pretty close to the road. If we stay here again, we'll ask for a spot at the back of the park. We camped at Blue Sky Ranch RV Park (formerly Arizona Sands RV Park) (55+ Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Park Place RV Park, Quartzsite, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This may be the best RV park in Quartzsite. The host is very friendly and good about answering questions. Sites are large with plenty of room for a vehicle to be parked beside your camper. Dish satellite TV, Verizon MiFi and AT&T cell phones all worked well here. There is no road noise to keep you from sleeping at night. Long term sites are well-maintained by residents. I didn't give this a 10 because I'd like to see the internal roads paved and a bit more lighting at night. I walk a lot and it was pretty dark after the sun went down. We liked it here though and will stay her again when in the area. We camped at Park Place RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Cactus Gardens RV Resort (55+ park), Yuma, Arizona

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

The park itself is well-maintained and park model homes are neat and orderly. Employees and park residents are all friendly and helpful. Our site was large with room to park next to our camper. There is a concrete slab on each site, too, which is nice for setting up chairs and a small table. Dish satellite TV, Verizon MiFi and AT&T cell phones all worked well here. Now for the reason for the low service rating. They have a large, very clean laundry at this park. I went to do my laundry on a Saturday and couldn't. That's because this campground sells "credit cards" you have to use to operate the machines. I've done this before, so didn't see it as a problem. You can usually use coins if you don't have a card. Not here. It's their card or nothing. There isn't an option for anything else. That still would have been okay with me, but then I found out the office is closed on weekends. So, at 10 am on a Saturday morning, there was no place in the park where I could purchase one of their laundry cards. Seems like there should have been a host or someone who could have sold me a card. So beware, if you want to do your laundry, do it during office business hours or purchase a card ahead of time. It won't keep us from staying here again, but it kept me from giving them a better rating. We camped at Cactus Gardens RV Resort (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Wilderness Lakes Preserve - Thousand Trails, Menifee, California

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

Staff in this park is friendly and helpful and take their time to answer all questions completely. Sites vary in size, but most are fairly large. Lots of activities in this park and food is available at the snack bar in the South lodge. Dish satellite TV, Verizon MiFi and AT&T cell phones all worked well here. Long-term residents are all toward the rear of the campground. Laundry facilities are plentiful with 3 laundry rooms and all the machines were working. They use their own app to pay for the machines, so you may want to get some quarters to use instead. I lost $2 because I prepaid for an extra load in the washer that I didn't need. Grocery store, other shopping and fast food restaurants are near by. We will stay here again when in the area. We camped at Wilderness Lakes Preserve - Thousand Trails in a Fifth Wheel.

Soledad Canyon Park / Thousand Trails, Acton, California

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

If you like dust and dirt, this may be the place for you. It appears there may have been grass throughout the park at one time, but that is no more. Now, when the wind blows, so does the dirt. Sites are large and a lot of them are pull-throughs making them easy to get into. Lots of long-term residents live in this park, including families. Our Verizon MiFi did not work here and you had to pay to use the park's wifi up at the lodge. We ended up going to McDonald's to use their free wifi one afternoon. AT&T cell phones worked fine as did Dish satellite. A train track runs next to the park, but the noise wasn't frequent at night, so it didn't really keep us from sleeping. We camped at Soledad Canyon Park / Thousand Trails in a Fifth Wheel.

Shady Haven RV Park& Mini Storage, Bakersfield, California

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This is an outstanding RV park. The sites are new, clean and spacious. All hookups worked well. The office staff and the maintenance staff are wonderful to work with. The girl in the office gave us clear instructions about getting in and out of the gates and suggested where we could go for gas and food. The park is a gated community giving one a strong feeling of security. Campers in the long term area have clean, orderly sites and their units are in good repair. Dish satellite TV, Verizon MiFi and AT&T cell phones all worked well here. There is some train noise, but nothing that kept us awake at night. We wished we were staying longer than one night. We camped at Shady Haven RV Park& Mini Storage in a Fifth Wheel.

Aurora RV Park and Marina, Nice, California

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This campground needs some work. Most of the sites are occupied by long-term rentals. Many of them have piles of junk, etc. in their campsites. The sites are tight on both sides of the highway and it is difficult to find a place to park your vehicle. Our neighbor had to park his truck in our site because he had no space in his. We had a hard time paying for our stay. There are office hours posted, but no one is ever in the office. We told the man who checked us in we hadn't paid yet and he said he get it later. After two days and several attempts to pay, I called him and arranged to meet him the next morning before we left. Even he said they were kind of "lackadaisical" about the way they ran the park. To be fair, he did say the woman who ran the office was gone for a few days unexpectedly and he had to do both his job and hers. On the plus side, Dish satellite TV, Verizon MiFi and AT&T cell phones all worked well here. But because of the overall situation in the park, we will be looking for another place to stay next time we're in the area. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

Xaa-wan’-k’wvt Village and Resort, Smith River, California

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is okay for a quick overnight stop, but not someplace I'd want to stay longer. The park has a lot of permanent residents and most of their units are old and rundown. Our site was large, but the girl at the front desk told us that during the busy season they put 2 campers in the same site. Hookups all worked well. Front desk girl was very friendly. Dish satellite TV, Verizon MiFi and AT&T cell phones all worked well here. We camped at Xaa-wan’-k’wvt Village and Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Cedar Bend Golf Course RV Park, Gold Beach, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Staff here is friendly and helpful. Golf course is well-maintained and golfers were very friendly. Site placement is a bit off, but since there was only one other camper, we were able to figure out a suitable arrangement. Deer grazing on the course were fun to watch. AT&T cell phone and WiFi didn't work at the campground, but Dish satellite TV worked very well. We have already recommended this campground to other people and will stay here again when in the area. Ashley Inn, Tillamook, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Haven't stayed here in about 4 years, but was glad to see it hasn't changed much. It's still a great place to stop for a night or two or more. Dish satellite TV, Verizon MiFi and AT&T cell phones all worked well here. One thing I can't recommend is spending money on the hotel breakfast. It's a $5.oo add-on if you want it. We paid for it, but there was virtually nothing but cold cereal, biscuits & gravy and toast left. The other guests had eaten it all and the girls who were working the room said they were out of sausage, sweet rolls, etc. Definitely a disappointment. So, if you stay here, don't waste money on the breakfast but enjoy your stay in the RV park. We camped at Ashley Inn in a Fifth Wheel.

Mt Hood Village RV Resort, Welches, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice Encore park not far from Mt. Hood. We had a large site with lots of shade, so we used their cable instead of our Dish TV. The cable worked well but was missing some of our favorite channels. Our Verizon MiFi worked okay during the times when other people in the park were not trying to access the Internet, too. AT&T cell phones had no issues while we were here. We were disappointed in the lack of activities for adults. Usually, there are things like breakfasts or ice cream socials in Encore/Thousand Trails parks, but we had none of those activities here. We thought that might be because they are renovating the clubhouse, so look forward to maybe seeing more for adults on our next visit. We camped at Mt Hood Village RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Lone Fir Resort, Cougar, Washington

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is an excellent campground. Sites are long and wide with plenty of room for your camper and car. There was also a picnic table at each site. We had full service and everything worked well. The little cafe at the campground had good food and it makes for a great place to relax after sightseeing, playing, etc. all day. Our Dish TV worked well here, but we had issues with our AT&T cell phones and Verizon MiFi. We were able to use the park's WiFi, though, so we could access the Internet when needed. The only thing we noticed was that the employees weren't exactly friendly. I passed 2 or 3 of them every day when I walked and it wasn't until my 5th day there that one of the employees greeted me. The rest just went on by without looking up. The woman in the office wasn't especially helpful, either. The staff in the cafe was excellent, though, and went out of their way to make the resorts' guests feel valued. We will stay here again if in the area. We camped at Lone Fir Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Pacific City RV & Camping Resort - Thousand Trails, Cloverdale, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

Based on other reviews, we were expecting terrible things at this campground, but found that the campground fit our needs fine, and we enjoyed our stay here. We had a full service site with plenty of shade. The site was clean, level and private. True, we were without our electronic devices while we were here, but we just went down and got free movies at the office and watched them. We knew when we took the site we wouldn't be able to get our Dish TV because of the trees and could have chosen a sight where our Dish worked if we had felt that strongly about it. We're self-contained, so lack of a bathroom isn't a problem for us. We did, however, talk to the contractor working on the bathrooms. He has a year-long contract to renovate them, so it will be a while before they are fully restored. The 2 bathrooms on our loop were open and working, though. The only problem we had with this campground was the narrow, bumpy roads. They are REALLY narrow and hilly and need to be widened out. Despite the roads, we will stay here again when we come back to the area. We camped at Pacific City RV & Camping Resort - Thousand Trails in a Fifth Wheel.

Thousand Trails-Long Beach, Seaview, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is good as a base for activities in the area like fishing, visiting light houses and going to the beach. There aren't many campground activities, but there is a pool and a small, but well-appointed club house. Fellow campers here are friendly and even with small children in the campground, it is pretty quiet. Sites aren't very big, but there is enough room for a picnic table and chairs outside. The pathway to the beach is wide and not overrun by foliage. Verizon MiFi, AT&T cell phones and Dish satellite all worked well here. This isn't a resort, by any means, but it suited our purposes well and we will stay here again if in the area. We camped at Thousand Trails-Long Beach in a Fifth Wheel.
