Surfside RV Resort, Parksville, British Columbia

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We loved staying here and inquired about returning to rent one of the "permanent" RVs (alas, too expensive for this pocketbook). The people are friendly, the place is maintained with lots of TLC and everything works. The setting is spectacular (estuary and Strait of Georgia) and we saw a cruise ship coming north through the channel one evening. The clubhouse is very nice, pool and hot tub looked inviting (the wind was a bit sharp and we were too whimpy to want the wind on our wet bodies). Laundry was nice, clean and reasonable (while the laundry processed I sat poolside). If ever on The Island again, this is my destination. We camped at Surfside RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Cluxewe Resort, Port McNeill, British Columbia

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

The road into the park is a pain - will rock n' roll your RV. Lots of potholes in the gravel and once you get to the park lots of thick ropes (hawsers is what my sailor hubby called them) to drive over. The power is spotty. Our Surge Guard caused our power to turn off more than 5 times in the first couple of hours (by then we figured out not to operate too many things - like lights or the refrigerator) on a 30 AMP circuit. Our neighbors were also having similar issues. The restaurant (open Wed-Sun) is quite the place. Excellent food, good (but limited) selection of wines, and a view that won't stop. The chef & his wife operate this fine eatery for the resort purveyor and are hospitable, welcoming, and professional. The view is the reason to come (unless you fish). Cruise ships, pleasure craft, and interesting barges float past at all hours of the day. Bottom line: worth the inconvenience. We camped at Cluxewe Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Seal Bay RV Park & Campground, Courtenay, British Columbia

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is such a lovely place. The other RVers are so friendly and make you feel like family. The only negative was that they gal who checked us in did not inform me of the availability of cable TV - which would have been nice since I chose a spot in the forest so our sat dish was useless. Laundry is $3 to wash, $2.50 to dry (60 minutes). We would come again. We camped at Seal Bay RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Elizabethtown Crossroads Campground, Elizabethtown, Kentucky

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Easy to access and register. Nice staff. The campground had some construction going on (till about 7 pm) so gravel was piled in different area thus eliminating some of the pull through sites. Some sites looked quite bumpy and it would be hard to level the trailer. It was an OK spot for overnight except the noise from the very nearby hwy required windows and vents to be closed in order to sleep (and we have a four season trailer). I would not stay again. We camped at Elizabethtown Crossroads Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

White Oak Campground, Strasburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Nice access to the area. Easy to access the campground. The clip clip of the Amish carriages added a touch of enchantment for me and I enjoyed the pastoral nature of Lancaster County. The campground is very popular, especially on a holiday weekend. We called at the last minute, since our plans seemed to be in motion, and were placed in the "P" section - water, electric and a fire ring. These sites are cheek by jowl. Slide outs almost touch each other and you can hear conversations in other trailers. But, it was a place to park for a few days. Nice staff and nice neighbors. We camped at White Oak Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Little City Campground, Higganum, Connecticut

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We needed a place in the Hartford area and even tho this one was due to close Oct. 1 she welcomed us with warm hospitality. The grounds are spacious and beautiful - we enjoyed seeing the Fall colors. The laundry is more than reasonable. It looks rustic, but the machines do the job. Because it was the end of the season, there were only two other families - nice and quiet. The owner referred us to a few places for meals and was attentive to anything we needed. Higganum is beautiful - out of the way but worth the trip. We camped at Little City Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Des-Rosiers Campground (Parks Canada), Forillon National Park, Quebec

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

A lovely national park. We stayed in loop C for the electricity access. Is you come here, be sure to load up on water - co-located with the dump/recycling/trash area. We were able to walk to the beach to enjoy morning coffee. Nice neighbors - a mix of Canadians and a few Americans. As mentioned, nice privacy. (We arrived with a critically ill cat, so we're traveling into Gaspe daily for four days - rough road surfaces.). Some restaurants avail if you travel outside the park. We would stay again if in the area. We camped at Des-Rosiers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Fifth Wheel.

Country Hills Campground, Marathon, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

The configuration of this campground is a bit off-putting - at first the RVs seems parked every which way - leaving one to assume mis-management - which is not the case. The owners live on site and are hands on. They charge for guests either by the car load or per person - seemed chintzy to me but this may be an East Coast thing. Food was good and reasonably priced. Some long-term seasonal residents - some maintain the trailers well, others not so much. An OK place to stop for one night. We camped at Country Hills Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The Willows on the Lake, Adams, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We enjoyed staying here and would return, if in the area. The sunsets over Lake Ontario are magnificent - many of those in the campground come to watch the sun go down - a nice moment of community. The grounds are well kept and the seasonal residents do a lovely job of maintaining their little piece of paradise. The new owners have been at it now for about 18 months and seem to be doing well. They're courteous and hospitable. The sites are level, with patio tables on the grass. Utilities are appropriately placed and work nicely. We camped at The Willows on the Lake in a Fifth Wheel.

Did a tour of Thousand Islands with Clayton Island Tours - great time, small number of passengers. Such a lovely lifestyle in the Thousand Islands. Enjoyed the Boat Musuem, also in Clayton, and walking about Mr. Boldt's La Duchesse. Boldt Castle was a disappointment - so many other people (hundred) walking about at the same time. Wish it was more like the tours at Hearst Castle.

Camping la Cle des Champs, Saint-Philippe, Quebec

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

What a delightful and hospitable place. As American traveling in French-speaking Quebec we were treated with a fair amount of disdain in the Montreal area but not at this RV resort. Staff is bilingual and go out of their way to make sure their guests are accommodated. We needed to make a reservation at another CG further north (no English spoken on the distant CG's recording machine) and the local folks were more than pleased to make the reservation for me.

The sites are fairly level gravel, with utilities close by and convenient. Each site has a patio made of beautiful pavers, a glass-topped patio table with chairs and a lovely matching swing plus a bar-b-que. The pool was well used, the gym and hot tub looked like there wasn't much use.

There are many permanent residents who take exceptional care of their yards. A gorgeous place to live.

I agree with previous posters - worth the money. We camped at Camping la Cle des Champs in a Fifth Wheel.

Great Lakes Naval Base Training Center (Military FamCamp), Naval Station Great Lakes, Illinois

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We agree with other negative comments: filthy outhouse, muddy potholed roads, and horrid customer service at the hotel. The base Commanding Officer should address these issues. Bright spots: The view of the Lake is great and other RVers were neighborly and enjoyable. The laundry is in the Marina bldg and is wonderful. We will not return to this base. Would rather do Walmart. We camped at Great Lakes Naval Base Training Center (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Sterling State Park, Monroe, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Great place to stay. Very family oriented - lots of kids riding their bikes, at the water, and having a good time. Parents were good about keep kids quiet after curfew. Beautiful access to the beach. Nice folks staff the offices. My gripe is an additional daily fee of $9. This should be incorporated into the advertised fee. Once you add that to the reservation fee - it gets expensive. However, I would return here cause it is so nice. We camped at Sterling State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Monroe is a nice town to investigate. WalMart and Petsmart within about 10 minutes. We used this as a base to see Greenfield Village (45 minute drive).
