South Rim (NPS Campground), Black Canyon Gunnison Nat'l Park, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great park. We stayed in Loop B which offers electric hook-up. The camp sites are clean and ours was easy to back in to. The park is gorgeous. We would plan an extra night next time. We camped at South Rim (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Spend a day exploring the South Rim. If you can add an extra day, the North Rim is supposed to be worth the extra day.

Chalk Creek Campground & RV Park, Nathrop, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We love this park and stay here at least twice a year. We have a 21' travel trailer so we are small enough to stay down by the creek. Try to get a spot on the creek. They're fabulous.

The biggest downfall is the huge light in the middle of the campground that permeates every ounce of darkness. We try to situate our trailer to minimize its offensive brightness. Of course, those people who need to walk to the bathrooms at night must appreciate it. We camped at Chalk Creek Campground & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Go up the road to Buena Vista and visit Cottonwood Hot Springs or go down the road to Salida and explore this quaint town. If you like white water river rafting, you're in the right spot!! Four-wheeling is everywhere. The view of the Collegiate Peaks is awesome.
