Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Couldn't ask for nicer people! The staff is super sweet and very informative as to the area around here. I was surprised as to how far out from Pueblo we were when we first got here, and she immediately said that we had only made a deposit, and if we didn't want to stay, we could just stay the night and see if we didn't like it, and she wouldn't hold us to the reservation. No other place would do that! We ended up not only staying, but extending! It's not a bad location once you get used to it. It's about 15 minutes to a Walmart, then another 20 min. to downtown Pueblo; but it's in the middle of getting to other places like Colorado Springs, and into the San Isabel Mountains, etc. We camped at Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Pueblo is interesting. It has several museums, the Riverwalk and great murals and a fun Neon Alley if you are in to photography. Take a drive out to see Bishop's Castle in the San Isabel Mountains, it's a fun day trip!

Cool Sunshine RV Park, Alamosa, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This is a brand new campground and it shows! The staff/owner couldn't be nicer and everything is top notch. They haven't put cable in yet, but the posts are geared for it (or I would have given it a 10). Location is great, site are long and level, when the trees and grass grows it will be even better. They have gone out of their way to add little details like a gathering gazebo, a nice clubhouse area, even a small exorcise room. We camped at Cool Sunshine RV Park in a Motorhome.

The Great Sand Dunes National Park is a must see! Allow plenty of time though as it is a popular place and you will want to spend several hours there! Also, try to see the Zapata Falls if you can. Great place to eat is the San Luis Valley Brewery (great in-house root beer if your not into beer too).

Lathrop State Park, Walsenburg, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

For a State Park I thought this was way over-priced. If you are not from CO, you pay an additional $8 per day, so that brings your price to $50 per day for just electric! You can get a better site at a private campground with FHU for goodness sake. You can't see the lake from your campsite, you have to walk about 2 blks to get to them, the "grounds" are nothing but weeds. Sites were level and bathrooms well maintained and place was quiet. Weather was awful, but that's not their fault, but it could be that way alot of the the time (very windy almost all of the time). Wouldn't come again. We camped at Lathrop State Park in a Motorhome.

Albuquerque Central KOA, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $63.00
Overall Rating:

Very over priced. The only reason we stayed here is because it's almost next door to Advantage Automotive where we have our RV serviced. They are super nice people, but so are other staff at other campgrounds at half the price! I just don't get how it's worth that much money? I've been to "resorts" for less money... We camped at Albuquerque Central KOA in a Motorhome.

If you are in need of a trustworthy RV mechanic, Advantage Automotive is right around the corner! Terrific people! Our two favorite restaurants are Weck's (BEST) breakfast around, and the Range Cafe over in Bernalilo. Fun place and great food! So many things to do in town, you need several days, but if you've "done them all"...and need something "different", try driving out to "the very large array" - you won't see anything else like it! Fun!

Crystal Forest Gift Shop Campground, Holbrook, Arizona

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

The information was confusing. There are two sides. On one side it is free with pull-throughs, back-ins and open spaces. Across the street has electric for $10, which are ALL BACK-IN spaces. When we arrived, no one was parked there and since were only going to be there the one night, we tried to park sideways, so we wouldn't have to un-hook. The man didn't seem to mind (who unlocked the electric box), but the lady later told my husband he had to unhook and back in, no exceptions. We offered to pay for both spaces, "nope", back in. Ugh. She was rude, both that afternoon and the next when she came to lock up the box (at 9:30!) when we were just talking to a neighbor. Good thing we were already to leave! Even as gift shop people, they weren't friendly. We ended up shopping down the road at Gray's Petrified Wood Company, much nicer folks. With the 18 mile drive in, and then back out again, I don't know that the gas was worth it. We camped at Crystal Forest Gift Shop Campground in a Motorhome.

Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort, Las Vegas, Nevada

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

It was a bit pricey as others have stated, but it's Vegas, and after I saw what we got, I wasn't disappointed! I've paid more for a whole lot less. It's a beautiful park with a ton of amenities, level, concrete sites with grass in-between, great cable service and good WiFi reception - what more can you ask? Close to the freeway with easy on/off access, and close to the strip! We were there for only one night, which was to bad, but after this visit, we plan to come back to really enjoy it! We camped at Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Bear Den RV Resort , Grangeville, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Clean, basic campground. Long, level gravel sites with grass in between. It would have been nice to have a table, but we had a nice shade tree. Cable was OK, and it was nice to have secured WiFi. They gave a hefty discount for being a Washington neighbor, so it was worth it for us to stay awhile. We camped at Bear Den RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Riverside RV Park, Riggins, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

A little bit of paradise! We landed here by accident because all the RV parks were booked south of here because of the Huckleberry Festival. I wasn't sure what to expect, being that it was such a small campground and just "off the road", but figured I could put up with about anything for three days! What a surprise! What a beauty! We had a pull-thru that put us right alongside a lush swath of grass that was under a big, beautiful shade tree and all that edged over the Salmon River! We quickly set up, put our chairs out and sat ourselves down to enjoy this incredible scenery and sounds of the rushing river below us. A mere few feet away was stone steps leading down to the river below, so one could take their fishing pole or just walk on down to sit on the large rock and dangle your feet in the river and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! One of the owners came by, quietly, from time to time to move the water sprinkler and we engaged him in small talk. Such a nice guy. I wish we could have stayed there much, much longer...like I said, pure paradise! We camped at Riverside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Ambassador RV Resort, Caldwell, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice "resort", very nice paved roads, big rock sites with cement "patios" with tables and BBQ and nice grass in between spacious sites and nice large shade trees. It has a pool, but it could use more shade area. Large inside lounge area too. They have a nice dog park for those people as well. I think they have taken care of it all! Close to lots of restaurants and groceries as well. Great stop! We camped at Ambassador RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Juniper Campground, Ririe, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

A beautiful county park! Ran into a "local" that comes frequently and said "shh, keep this a secret! We love it here!" Wonderful paved roads, lush green grass, well maintained, treed sites that are far apart from each other, a lake of course, even a basketball court! We were in Loop A, but our "local" suggested Loop C for even a better, more quiet area. We were only staying one night and had already found a great pull-thru, so didn't bother to check out Loop C. When we called the Park Host he had said, on a Sunday, it's pretty empty, just come on in and look at the "Reserved Signs" and check the dates, and pull into whatever is available. It's a honor system payment kiosk. I never saw anyone even come by and check to see if we paid or not. I suppose if we were staying longer, or over the weekend it would be different. Wished we were... We camped at Juniper Campground in a Motorhome.

Livingston RV Park & Campground, Livingston, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This was a small park in town that had a few sites for travelers, the rest were perm. We got the "best" end site, and it was a tough one to get in to, as it had a very sharp, tight turn that we had to un-hook and juggle the rig to even get into. Once in, though, it was fine. We saw the manager help quite a few people all through the night that I think were "desperate" to just get a spot off the road. There is almost nothing between here and Yellowstone to choose from, even a Walmart won't let you boondock, and when the other's are full, you are just out of luck! People were being squeezed in all around the grass, thankful for that! The manager was super nice (once you could get hold of them, I had to call and call). Not a place to stay, but good for a night. We camped at Livingston RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

River View RV Park, Fort Pierre, South Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Super nice owner! They have just expanded to a "lower lot" and more than doubled their size, so it's a work in progress. The view is what it's all about! Wow! It overlooks the whole city and they have created a wonderful little fire pit area area that they bring lots of firewood and build an nice fire for you to sit around and enjoy it by. We even had a "blood moon" one night. The WiFi is fantastic too, enough to do streaming if you want, explained the owner! Once the trees grow up, it's really gong to be super nice. They even built a storm shelter, they have really "thought of everything" here. We camped at River View RV Park in a Motorhome.

7th Ranch RV Camp, Garryowen, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This place was big! Large, level gravel sites with nice big trees and really pretty flowers in between each site and all along the fencing (which also had bird houses on top). They had a well with soft water, so the showers were great and they didn't mind you using water to wash your car & rig at all, which was really great because the roads all around were super dusty. Right after we did, we got quite a rain & short hail storm, but it was ok because we had gotten all the previous dirt off. The staff was very nice and the place super clean. We would come back in a heartbeat. We camped at 7th Ranch RV Camp in a Motorhome.

W.H. Lyon Fairground, Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

All grass field with a gravel drive entrance and roads. When we were there, there was hardly anyone else there, so plenty of space in between sites. It's hard to say how close each coach would be if it were "full". Super nice hosts. When I called ahead I was told that they don't take reservations, just to come in and call when I get close. We did that and then again when we arrived and they met us at the gate and escorted us to our site. We chatted for quite awhile while they suggested places to eat and go and gave us a visitor's guide to help as well. Close to just about anywhere. We camped at W.H. Lyon Fairground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a basic campground, all gravel & a little swath of grass in between with full hook-ups - that's it. Plain, nothing else. Level, flat, long simple sites. Downside, it was quite a drive into Lincoln to see the Capitol, but the price difference at the nearest campground was more than double! Well worth the drive.
