Benchmark RV Park, Meridian, Mississippi

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Okay Campground for an overnight stay. We have stayed here a few times over the years. I have always noticed the around the power connection stand it is muddy. However this time water was standing all around the power stand. Obviously this is very dangerous. This is an easy problem to resolve with a little gravel placed around the power stations. I hope the owners address this issue. We camped at Benchmark RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground), Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

This is a wonderful national park campgrounds. The sites are first come, first serve. The campsites are very close together and very clean. ATT phone service was very good. There were 3 or 4 OTA tv channels available. The problem: everyone goes to national parks for the beauty of the park and desire a peaceful scenic setting. That did not happen during the five days we were at the park. The leaves were just turning and some were falling off the trees, not many. The park management had the employees out with leaf blowers everyday all day long. The employee would blow the leaves out to the road and then a street sweeper would drive by to vacuum up the leaves. Again, all day, five full days. Not only did we have to endure the hours of the noise everyday but the dust and air particles forced us inside our camper with the a/c turned off. All this noise and dust was just a waste of time because the leaves would be falling off the trees for the next month. Very sad that management has forgotten national parks are for the peaceful enjoyment for all. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

JP Coleman State Park, Iuka, Mississippi

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

We have camped here several times. Each time the experience gets worse. 1. The park is in dire need of major repairs. They have begun placing gravel along the pavement and concrete areas around the campsites. However, they need a lot more gravel to level up the sites. 2. The employees are not the most friendly staff we have encountered. They act like we are so much trouble when checking in and don't have a campground map. Never saw another employee over a three day stay.3. The park has the rules that prints out with your receipt. To bad the campers don't follow the rules and the employees or host (If there is one) NEVER comes around to enforce the rules. Trucks and boat trailer parted anywhere but where they belong. Our next door neighbor's boat trailer was parked to where the trailer was more that halfway in our campsite. The trailer reached past the our fire pit toward our camper. The park is LONG over due for some TLC. ATT cellphone only worked outside the camper. Only one OTA channel, PBS. Most sites do have a view of the lake. If these issues are addressed by the park, this would be a nice place to visit. Until then, find another campgrounds. We camped at JP Coleman State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Goulding's Lodge & Campground, Oljato-Monument Valley, Utah

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

This is a good place for a day or two to see Monument Valley. They have good cable and a great setting between canyon walls. We had to raise one wheel 2 inches to level camper. The internet connection was fast and open. Someone placed a virus on my computer, but was able to clean with virus software. Beware of the internet. Many of the sites shared the same pullin site or rvs were back to back with duel connections. ATT was good but it was 3G. We camped at Goulding's Lodge & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

If you go to see The View across the street from Gouldings, the cost is $20 for up to five people and is good for two days. Several Indians were selling jewelry along the highway, jewelry is alot cheaper in price here than in Arizona.

Oasis RV Resort, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Good campground while traveling on I40 or for a few day in Amarillo. Internet was ok, plenty of antenna channels, all sites level on concrete pad and spacious. The staff was friendly. We got a pizza from the campground but I would not get another. As other people stated, if the wind is from the west you will get the aroma of the stock yard about 7 miles down the road. Not too bad, reminded me of my farming days as a youngster. We camped at Oasis RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

El Reno Lake Campground, El Reno, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great campground for a one night on I40. The park belongs to the City of El Reno and is a great bargain. Water & electricity is $15 and full hook ups for $20. No internet or cable but many antenna channels from OK city. Payment is the honor system, place your money in an envelope and place in the slot by the driveway entrance. Did not use any facilities. You are in a city park with lake, golf and play grounds near by. It is located just a few miles from town. Great Campground for the road. We camped at El Reno Lake Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Alpen Rose RV Park, Durango, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very good campgrounds. This is our first time staying here (Stayed just down the road and never there again) and found the very nice. Gravel roads, easy level, very friendly staff, picnic table at each site, lots of shade, clean laundry and fairly new. Many sites are set to where you share your or face you neighbor. Internet was not very fast but reliable, cable is about 12 stations, antenna channels are about 12 stations. Great place to see all the sites around Durango. Next time we come to this area, we will stay here. We camped at Alpen Rose RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Nashville East / Lebanon KOA, Lebanon, Tennessee

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

All the sites have gravel, picnic table and fire pit. For the most part, the sites were fairly level. Internet was okay and no cable. There were plenty of antenna channels out of Nashville. We did not use the showers or laundry. My biggest problem was that about 90% of the campground was long term campers. The long term and overnight campers were not separated. Most LT campers were nice rigs but the problem was when they got up to go to work. It started at 4:30 AM, trucks would crank up and idle for 15 minutes or longer. This continued until around 8:00 am. For my next stop in the Nashville area, we will try to find a quieter location. We camped at Nashville East / Lebanon KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Douglas KOA, Douglas, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Nice place for the Douglas area. We stayed one night while traveling through. Very friendly staff, good level site and little or no shade. They charge an extra $2 for cable, but we didn't get it. There are a few antenna channels. We stopped to rest and not watch TV but really cable should be included in the price. I hate when a place tries to nickel and dime you to death. But, would stay here again when passing through. We camped at Douglas KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Ponderosa Campground, Cody, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here several times even though you are packed in like sardines. Lots of shade and level sites, good cable and clean bath/showers. Made reservations months ago but made no difference, you have to take what is available when you arrive. There is lots of road noise. The staff are very friendly and will stay here again when visiting Cody. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Fishing Bridge Campground (Concessionaire Operated), Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

If you are planning on staying here anytime soon, be sure to make a reservation NOW. The first set of camp site are closed. The old asphalt is being remove and new is being laid down. I would guess it would be July before they finish. Don't know if they will do the same to the other half of the campgrounds, but they need too. The roads are full of potholes and with the construction, it is worse. Level sites on pavement, no tv or internet. Easy setup for Directv. Larger sites for big rigs go fast, I had no problem with my RV. Would stay here again. Two free showers per day with your stay. Needless to say, with all the construction and only half the campgrounds available, the place was a mad house at check in. Very nice folks work at the check in. We camped at Fishing Bridge Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Travel Trailer.

Colter Bay Village RV Park -- Full Hookups (Concessionaire Operated) , Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

The Grand Tetons are beautiful and a great place to visit. Most sites are pull-through and have sewer, water and electricity. There is no internet, ATT cellphones only work outside and that was not 100% of the time and no tv/cable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A shower was $4.25, the laundry was okay. Funny how some people claimed dryers before their clothes were finished washing, I mean really! Overall this is a great place to visit but the cost is way overpriced. Richfield KOA, Richfield, Utah

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Wonderful campgrounds with lots of shade, gravel sites, good cable. Grass all around the sites and very friendly staff. We stayed here over the Memorial Day weekend to visit Capital Reef and Bryce Canyon. The showers/bathroom is typical KOA.The campgrounds is away from interstate noise and the town is surround by mountains. Would stay here again. There are some long terms campers but they keep their sites up very well. I wish all KOA campgrounds was as nice as this one. We camped at Richfield KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Canyonlands RV Resort & Campground, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Good campground for the Moab area. Gravel, level, patio, good cable and most important, lots of shade. The campground was full. There is no good place to let your dog go but on the gravel. We enjoyed our stay at this campground and have stayed here several times.

On the bad side is the entrance/exit, you enter by a gas station and the driveway is very, very rough. Only one way in and out, so at times the area is very congested. Moab has a lot of loud vehicles on the road and in the campground. Lots of trucks and off-road vehicles makes for a very loud stay. We camped at Canyonlands RV Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

United Campground of Durango, Durango, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

First, the good: Level gravel sites, lots of shade and best of all, the campground back up to the Durango Railroad track. You can see the train several times a day. Now the bad: Although they advertise cable TV on the Internet and camp map, there was none. The trash dumpsters were overflowing, and I mean overflowing. The bathroom was up a steep hill with lots of steps. The showers were small and the bathroom had a funny smell. Other than that, it was an OK stay. We camped at United Campground of Durango in a Travel Trailer.
