Venango Park COE, Marquette, Kansas

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

This COE is nice. Very well maintained with spacious sites. W/E at many sites, but not all. Some have just electric, some are primitive. We were in Loop A, site 4. Loops A, D and E have W/E at many sites. The shower house looks very new, but we didn't use the restrooms here. Dump station is convenient. Beautiful lake views, lots of shade. New picnic tables with composite tops. New large/deep firepits. Verizon signal good, 17 OTA TV stations. Largest town nearby is Salina, which is about a 30 minute drive, though Ellsworth is a small town closer with basic necessities available. This part of Kansas is very lovely, the Smoky Hill region. We'd stay again in a heartbeat. Perfect place to relax in the great outdoors. We camped at Venango Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Twin Fountains RV Park, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We used this for an overnight while visiting family. Actually had two nights reserved but a family emergency caused us to cancel 2nd night. The staff was very gracious and understanding and refunded our total 2nd night fee. Site was very level, concrete, pull thru, utilities convenient. Cable TV worked well. Verizon signal excellent. We would stay here again happily. Very large, lovely grounds, convenient to highway but quiet for sleeping. We camped at Twin Fountains RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Checotah / Lake Eufaula West KOA, Checotah, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Used for a one night stay. Easy in and out, very long pull thru that was perfectly level. Had heavy rain during our stay. Gravel site pad was adequate. No cable, but many OTA TV stations. Laundry building is convenient and clean. Checotah is close by for shopping needs. Verizon signal good. You can see the highway from the campground and road noise was significant outdoors during the day, but we didn't notice anything inside our 5th wheel with the windows closed during the night. It's good for overnight stay and we would use this KOA again if in the area. We camped at Checotah / Lake Eufaula West KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tyler State Park, Tyler, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We booked a site in Lakeview area, 41' pull through, full hookups, close to lake, thinking it would be a breeze to set up. Many sites in this loop aren't too bad, but it appears that the FHU area next, Big Pine, has easier campsites to get level. Ours required backing out, re-entering very near the rock wall of the campsite in order to achieve any sort of level. And even then, heroics and lots of levelers were required to come as close to level as possible. The utilities are situated far ahead of the level area so we had to go to town and buy a 50 amp extension just to hook up to electrical. Utility placement was not convenient in this particular site for a big rig. Once set up, this is a lovely place to stay. Gorgeous scenery, quiet and peaceful place. Many hiking trails, and Tyler is close by for any shopping needs. Verizon signal okay. 2 OTA TV stations. We would love to camp here again. We would love to get an easier site to level even more. We camped at Tyler State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The Azalea District in Tyler is stunning if you're there in March or early April. The rose garden looks like it would be wonderful during season, too. Walmart and Lowes and Camping World are all a short drive. Hike the trails, start a campfire, read a book. It's a place to just relax.

Rocky Creek COE, Somerville, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

A lot of this park is closed to camping due to previous flood damage. Limited number camping loops are open. Some sites are pretty decent. The lakeside sites are all nice. Our site had good utilities and it was a long site. But it was an interior site right across from the lakeside sites. These sites are very very close together and not very appealing. One of the dump stations is awkward to drive into - tight turn. There may have been gravel for the camping pad but the grass was so thick and tall you couldn't tell. The grass was extremely tall throughout the park except for the hiking path which was mowed. We found that odd. The staff was very kind and friendly. It's a good place to camp for visiting College Station and Brenham. It was quiet at night. Verizon pretty good and a few OTA stations. If we were to stay here again we would choose a lakeside site or one across from the shower house. Shower house was nice and clean. We camped at Rocky Creek COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Inks Lake State Park, Burnet, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is a gorgeous state park in the Hill Country. Friendly staff, well maintained facility with very nice new shower houses. They have what they call "cabins", but they're really just small, cement block, air conditioned, rooms with two sets of bunk beds and a table. No water, no restroom. The campsites are generally well spaced although some are kind of close. Asphalt parking pads for the campers but very little extra room for vehicle at each site. Lots of parking available in specified areas. Some of the asphalt parking pads are pretty narrow and in need of repair. Lots of shade, beautiful views, and plenty of places to walk and ride bike. Huge campground. OTA TV non-existent. Verizon signal excellent. We would return here in a heartbeat. In fact, we didn't want to leave. Make springtime reservations well in advance, this is a super popular place in the spring. We camped at Inks Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

They have wonderful pie selection.

New Braunfels, Gruene, San Antonio, the Hill Country for scenic drives. Fredericksburg isn't a bad drive.....there is so much to do in this area. Spring is a wonderful time to visit because of the wildflowers.

Midway Park COE, Waco, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

We spent three nights here and loved every second. Such a nice clean campground right on the shores of beautiful Waco Lake. Close and convenient to everything Waco has to offer. It's not a large campground, and it's nice and quiet even with the close proximity to the highway. Utilities great, Verizon great, OTA channels abundant, friendly staff. Lots of shade, and covered picnic tables. We hated to leave this campground. And Waco was a real surprise to us, very lovely little city with more beauty than we expected to find here. Overall Rating:

Wonderful RV park. Concrete drives and campsite pads. Clean and well landscaped. Utilities excellent. Friendly staff. WiFi pretty good. Verizon signal great. Pool area is beautiful. There's a large stream that runs through the park with a pond. Plenty of places to walk dog, with doggy bags provided. There is road noise, but we found it to be no problem at night, and really not that bad during the day. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat! We camped at Oak Creek RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Holiday COE, Benbrook, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

Spent 5 days at this lovely park, in site 72. Such a nice quiet park on a beautiful lake. Very near all the conveniences (Walmart, etc.) of the city, but you'd never know it from your campsite. Sites are very well spaced and clean. Recent flooding created debris, but it has been cleaned up from the campsite areas. Utilities work well, site was pretty level and paved. Covered picnic table. Verizon excellent. 80 OTA channels available from this particular site. Yes, eighty. We didn't use the shower house but checked out the nearest toilet in case we needed storm shelter. It was horrid. and a vault toilet only. But the actual shower houses look much nicer. We didn't use them though. The road into the campground are a bit narrow and have some rough areas. But overall, this is an excellent place to stay and we'd come again in a heartbeat. We camped at Holiday COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Cedar Bluff State Park - Bluffton Area, Ellis, Kansas

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Our first time to camp here and we were so impressed. One of the nicest state parks in Kansas. Extremely well maintained park. Sites are very large and well spaced. Plenty of parking at each campsite for vehicles, camper and boat. View of lake from sites. Lots of trees in most camping loops. Nice new playground equipment. Picnic tables are new and made with composite material. Fire rings at sites. Plenty of green area and paved roads for bicycles and walking. The entire shoreline looks to be naturally sandy and the lake water seems clear. This part of Kansas is amazingly lovely with the limestone bluffs and green hills. If you stay here, take a drive on the scenic byway. Castle Rock is not far either. We will stay again. We stayed in Overland loop. All loops in north shore look great. Mound Valley COE, Cherryvale, Kansas

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $9.00
Overall Rating:

This COE campground is on a lovely lake with a hilly, heavily wooded shoreline. As we were locating our campground we ended up on narrow gravel roads which are in the process of being paved today. So, soon the paved roads leading to park will be a great improvement. My "9" rating reflects future paved roads outside park. The beach area is quite nice and very clean with abundance of good soft sand. There is a heavily shaded picnic area and shower house next to the sandy beach. When we reserved online we somehow didn't see that many sites have no water hookup. There are many areas to fill your tank throughout the park so this isn't a huge deal. The sites are paved and level and spacious. Many sites have a close view of the lake through the trees. Lake shore access by maintained footpath is available at every lakeside campsite. Patio is concrete with large, concrete picnic table. Verizon signal very good. One OTA TV station. This is a beautiful, out of the way, quiet campground near Hwy 400. Hidden gem. We want to return in the fall to see the lovely colors. We camped at Mound Valley COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Lakeview Campground, Branson, Missouri

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Last minute trip to Branson, and no vacancy at Indian Point COE where the rest of the family was staying. Our first time at Lakeview and it worked quite well for us. Very convenient to Indian Point COE. The only lake view is from the road through the campground and maybe 2 or 3 campsites. Sites are shady and well spaced for a private campground. Plenty of room to sit outside, awnings, slides, etc. Our site was a really tight squeeze to get into for our 35' 5th wheel, but staff was super helpful to assist in parking. Sites are very level even though campground is hilly. Utilities excellent, Verizon signal good. Bath house has 4 separate rooms with shower/toilet/sink in each room. Nothing fancy but pretty clean, and most importantly AIR CONDITIONED!! Laundry is nice. We would stay again if in the area. We camped at Lakeview Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very large state park divided up into several different campgrounds scattered around Eldorado Lake. If you're looking for full hook ups the options are Walnut River campground with 50 amp service (Eagle Pass section), or Bluestem campground with 30 amp service (Sunflower Meadow). We stayed in Sunflower recently. Our site had ample shade and a nice view of the lake. The grass was trimmed nicely when we arrived and then mowed again 5 days later. The best sites for shade in Sunflower loop are 39, 45, 48, 53. The sites are large, well spaced, and level. City of Eldorado is nearby for any shopping needs. Wichita is only 25 miles away. Verizon signal 2 to 3 bars 4g. OTA TV channels very minimal. There are some 50 amp sites in other camping loops without sewer hookups. We camped at El Dorado State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
