About DiplomatTraveler

We are full-timers in a 2006 Monaco Diplomat 40PDQ with four slides and tow a Jeep Grand Cherokee; overall length about 60'. It is important to have a safe place to spend the night; it's okay if the park is old. We're more concerned about trees overgrowing the site. Our RV is our home; we use our own bathroom and laundry.

Nugget RV Park, St. Regis, Montana

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

This is well maintained, well managed park; the new owners have had it about three years now. Roadways and sites are gravel. All pull throughs of varying lengths; some more level than others. Utilities were good. We didn't use the shower facilities or laundry. A plus is the onsite coffee shop; hours vary during the week. The pool was still closed for the season. Lots of trees and walking paths throughout the grounds. Book exchange in the club house. We camped at Nugget RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit Quinn's Hot Springs Resort, about 20 miles away. Enjoy the mineral pools and dinner at their restaurant. For Geocachers, the park makes a good base for the many caches in the area. The Milwaukee RR trail has 60 caches and there is a great series of creative caches on the Mullan Gulch Road.

Helena North KOA (formerly Lincoln Road RV Park), Helena, Montana

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Rate includes extra $4.00/night for 50 amp service. New price structure went into effect May 1, but since we had made reservations during the prior rate, they honored that rate. This is an older park in the north end of Helena, with easy on/off from I-15. All roadways and sites are gravel. Good utilities and strong Verizon cell and MiFi. Pull through sites for travelers are varying lengths, most looked fairly level. Some sites with trees; all have picnic table on concrete patio and there's grassy area between rigs. Watch the height of the utility posts when positioning slides. Book exchange and vending machine are located in the laundry room. We camped at Helena North KOA (formerly Lincoln Road RV Park) in a Motorhome.

There are many things to see and do in Helena. We happened on the Farmer's Market on Saturday in downtown. Enjoy coffee/tea drinks at Firetower Coffee House, 422 N Last Chance Gulch St. A variety of offerings at LaPa Grill, 32 W 6th Ave. For geocachers, this is a good place to find a variety of caches. Cache Across America -MT is located near Helena.

Countryside RV Park, LLC, Dillon, Montana

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

We've stayed here before and enjoy this park for its long pull through sites, good service, great views, and "open-ness". There are a variety of site lengths, pull throughs and back ins, and plenty of space between RVs at most sites. Laundry facility located to the side of the office; book and movie exchange in the office. Full hookups worked good; strong Verizon cell and MiFi. We camped at Countryside RV Park, LLC in a Motorhome.

Willow Bay Recreation Area, American Falls, Idaho

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This park has a lot to offer with RV sites in all sizes, the marina, walking trails, ball park, and on site cafe. The cafe was being remodeled during our stay (late April) and not open. All sites are paved, good utilities, Verizon cell and MiFi had strong signals, and the area was clean and well maintained. We had space #28, an end site which is super long and has a large grass area around the picnic table and fire pit. It was pretty quiet in the park the weekend we were there, but we guess this park fills up in the summer months. Reservations at that time are probably a must. We camped at Willow Bay Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Check out The Ranch Bakery, 855 Pocatello Ave., for delicious cinnamon rolls; their bacon on a stick was fantastic! The Falls Grill and Chill, 474 Tyhee Ave, has a great burger. Don't miss the restored, old neon sign for the Silver Horseshoe Bar, next to the US Bank, 588 Ft. Hall Blvd.

Saguaro RV Park, Jackpot, Nevada

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

This park worked well for our one night stay. We parked in the back area, Sites 1-52, which has an on-site office. These are very long pull throughs and, may at times, be used for two RVs. We had space 8/9 for ourselves, and wouldn't have needed to unhook except we wanted to explore a bit. Sites are gravel with a grassy area between rigs. It is an easy walk to the casino. The front section, Sites 53-90 does not have an on-site office; it appeared registration was in the casino. It costs $2 more to be in the back area. 30 amp only for electric; with freezing temperature overnight, we did not hook up to water. Note: Jackpot NV is on Mountain Standard Time. We camped at Saguaro RV Park in a Motorhome.

Ely KOA, Ely, Nevada

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Price reflects KOA club discount. This is a nice park located a few miles out of Ely along Highway 93. All roadways and sites are gravel. Full time residents are parked along the front/highway side. The office/store is typical of most KOAs with RV and camping supplies, food items, souvenirs, and area information. Propane and fire wood are available. All sites are pull through and most all are very level. We unhooked; plenty of room to park along side the MH. Picnic table and fire pit at each site. There is a small book exchange in the laundry room. Verizon cell and MiFi worked well. We camped at Ely KOA in a Motorhome.

Tonopah RV, Tonopah, Nevada

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

The RV sites are located at the front and west side of a series of rental accommodations of various types and sizes. Roads, sites, driveways are all gravel and very dusty when the wind blows. Full hook ups at all sites; the water was just being turned back on when we were there mid-April. Site rates vary based on number of nights, if you've stayed before, and other factors. It can be complicated; just ask. Staff is very nice and helpful with recommendations for restaurants and things to do in town. We camped at Tonopah RV in a Motorhome.

For geocachers, this is a good stay for completing the north and west sections of the ET Trail. Lots of other caches in the area as well. The Chinese restaurant in the Banc Club, 360 N. Main St., has new owners and was very tasty. The BBQ at Tonopah Brewing Company, 315 S Main was also quite good.

Little A'le'Inn, Alamo, Nevada

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

There are 4 RV sites located behind the Little A'le"Inn which is located in Rachel, NV (not Alamo). Sites are gravel, pull through, with water and electric only - no sewer. Fortunately, you can be as far forward or back in the site as needed to position the RV away from over growing tree branches. There is also an area for dry camping; check the Inn's website for more info. Verizon cell service is slow, but it worked. Be prepared for very low flying jets and sonic booms. We camped at Little A'le'Inn in a Motorhome.

Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort, Las Vegas, Nevada

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

The park was host to a Monaco International Rally during the second week of April, thus the special $50/night rate. The RV site is paved with the patio area being gravel. Sites vary in size depending on length of RV; our 40' fit, but parking for the Jeep was tight. There are at least four different types of sites with different rates for each. This is an urban park and can be very busy at any time of the year; reservations are a must. Many permanent residents in the back half. The conference room facility was the right size for the rally group. The store has RV supplies, food/snack items, souvenirs. The small onsite cafe offers food and beverages, and closes about 2 pm. We camped at Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Hidden Oasis RV Park, Wikieup, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

For a one night stay along the journey, this park well served the purpose. All roads and sites are gravel, there are many trees, and the pull through sites were long enough, we didn't have to unhook. The park office is in a small cafe at the front of the park, with a small store of collectibles, a few RV supplies, and snacks. All hookups were good, the laundry room was clean, our Verizon MiFi had a strong signal, and for geocachers, there's a cache at the front entrance. We camped at Hidden Oasis RV Park in a Motorhome.

Gold Canyon Resort (55+ park), Gold Canyon, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

We picked up a flyer at an RV rally for a week's free stay at this resort, thus the $1 cost. This is a large resort with mostly park model homes with limited RV sites. All roads are paved, sites are gravel with a large concrete patio for sitting and car parking. Site was just long enough for our 40' MH. We arrived in the park April 1, so many of the activities were over for the season. We didn't use any of the facilities, but could see that the pools were very popular. The lending library is for check out and return only. We camped at Gold Canyon Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Rancho Rialto RV Resort (55+ Park), Yuma, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Rate based on a monthly rate of $440; we received a 20% discount for being first time visitors to the park. When making reservations for long stays, there is a $200 non-refundable deposit. Electricity is in addition to the base rate. All roads in this park are paved. RV sites are gravel with a concrete slab patio. The north half of the park is all manufactured homes; the south half is made up of RV and park model sites. There are two laundry facilities; the one in the RV section was closed in March due to an accident. You'll find a book exchange in the main clubhouse and in the satellite building in the RV section. Mail boxes are assigned to each site; there's a security deposit for the key which is refunded when the key is returned. This park has several activities throughout the season; shuffleboard is very popular as are the game nights and weekly jam sessions. The events are open to residents, their guests, and outside visitors. Ticket sales happen on Monday and Tuesdays, about two-three weeks before an event. The park is very popular with Canadians. We camped at Rancho Rialto RV Resort (55+ Park) in a Motorhome.

Rancho Casa Blanca, Indio, California

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice park, as close to a 10/10/10 as you can get. It is an ownership park in that you rent from the owner; not the park itself. Roads and sites are paved, lots of grass and trees, and about all the amenities one might want. There are a lot of activities during the winter season, golf, dances, concerts, etc. We rented a site in the Old Town for $900/month which included electricity. Other sites in the park range from $850 (w/o electric) to $1200 for a lake/golf course/or larger "new town" site. There are two club houses, and four additional satellite buildings, six pools, and six hot tub/spas with laundry and restroom/shower facilities at each. Make your reservations early; possibly even a year in advance. We camped at Rancho Casa Blanca in a Motorhome.

Desert View RV Resort, Needles, California

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice, desert park with lots of trees. An 8' oleander hedge separates each site from its neighbor providing a nice screen for privacy. Sites have a concrete patio, are gravel, level, and either pull through or back in. All utilities are located about mid-site. One road in the park is paved, the others are gravel. Free Wifi and book/DVD exchange are available in the clubhouse. Our Verizon MiFi worked well. The pool is available year round. Laundry room looked very clean during our walk through; we did not use it. Everyone we met was very friendly and helpful with tips on the area. We will definitely stay here again when in the area. Wine Ridge RV Resort & Cottages, Pahrump, Nevada

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice park with paved roads and gravel sites. All utilities are at the back of the site; be prepared for at least a 30' reach depending on how far back in the site you can park and where the waste outlet is located on your rig. Each row is terraced above the last one, making the back to back sites feel more open. Sites are wide - about 25'. We had a premium back in site that had an extra space next to it called the BBQ area. Two pools, a spa, pickleball court, and horseshoe pit available. The lending library has a nice selection of books and DVDs. There's a coin operated car and RV wash facility. You cannot wash your own rig at your site; must use a pre-approved vendor. This is definitely a snow bird park; make reservations early. We camped at Wine Ridge RV Resort & Cottages in a Motorhome.
