South Rim (NPS Campground), Black Canyon Gunnison Nat'l Park, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed one night each in two difference sites, due to availability. Both were electric only with limited water available and no dump station. Cells did not work in the campground, but we got some service elsewhere in the park. Good OTA channels and satellite dish worked fine. Nice 1 mile hike to/from Visitor Center and a great Rim Ridge road with numerous pullouts to take in the canyon. Length limits on reservation website were pretty accurate. Both sites needed a couple blocks of leveling on one side. We camped at South Rim (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Electric only site with plenty of water spigots that you can attach a hose to scattered about. Very nice 4 lane Dump Station. Poor cell service, but satellite dish worked fine. Site backed up to lake. We camped at John Martin Reservoir State Park in a Motorhome.

Oasis RV Resort, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

Nice, clean park with great service. FHU with Cable. Cells, OTA and Satellite all were fine. Propane available every but Sunday. Not much shade or physical separation between sites, but easy access off I-40. For excitement, we took a 1.5 mile bike ride to the Cadillac Ranch!! Will stay again for a night when passing through. We camped at Oasis RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Mother Neff State Park, Moody, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Enjoyable State Park a little Southwest of Waco, TX. All sites are FHU and there are only about 20 of them in the park. Sites are incredibly well spaced out and there are a couple Campground Hosts that keep things in order. We were in space #3 - a back-in space that provided some afternoon shade in the TX summer. The hiking trails are all pretty short and take you to some interesting landmarks. There is also a nice paved road at the far end of the park that we used for a nice 10 mile (RT) bike ride through a prairie and along a stream. Visitor Center at Ranger Station is quite educational. We camped at Mother Neff State Park in a Motorhome.

Lake Colorado City State Park, Colorado City, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Older, but nice CG about 10 minutes off of I-20. Nice place for an overnight stay. We were in space 41 - a pull through with some view of lake. Electric and Water at site, and a Dump Station located in CG. Cells, OTA and Satellite all worked well. Hiking trails a little over grown. A little trouble with 30A, so used adapter and accessed the 50A circuit. We camped at Lake Colorado City State Park in a Motorhome.

Pine Springs Campground (NPS Campground), Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Large paved lot with space for ~20 RV's. Spaces were a little more spread out than I was anticipating. No Hookups, but water available to fill tanks. We stayed one night in early June. We got there early in am and had nice choice of sites. By end of day, 2/3 of CG was occupied. Many hiking trail start in the CG. Beautiful view of mountains and plenty of open sky for solar panels. Cells were OK, some OTA. About an hour drive up to Carlsbad Caverns NP. We camped at Pine Springs Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Hueco Tanks State Park & Historic Site, El Paso, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful CG between El Paso and Guadalupe Mtn NP. About 10 miles off the main road. You need to arrive 1 hour before closing and watch a 10 minute video on the importance of conservation. Hard to argue with that. Small CG with ~20 sites. We stayed in space 17. Spotty cell service. Nice wall of rock boulders on one side of CG. Saw a lot of interesting birds. Water and electric at site, but no Dump station around. Only there for one night, so didn't get a chance to hike the trails. Will definitely come back. We camped at Hueco Tanks State Park & Historic Site in a Motorhome.

Very friendly and helpful staff. We stayed in A46. Park was maybe 50% full in early June. Great hiking and biking trails with tons of Saguaro Cactus. 2 sided Dump station near exit worked fine. Sprint/ATT cells, OTA and Satellite all worked fine. We camped at Catalina State Park in a Motorhome.

Indian Cove (NPS Campground), Joshua Tree National Park, California

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

National Park CG on North Side of Park. No hookups, but beautiful scenery. There is a 1-2 mile Nature Hike in CG, but other Joshua Tree sites require a car. You do not have to enter NP to access the CG. We stayed in space 52, which was great. Sprint and ATT cell worked fine. No OTA to speak of. We were there in early June and less than 10% of sites were filled. Plenty of open sky for solar panels. Boulders provided nice evening shade. We camped at Indian Cove (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Port San Luis Harbor District, Port San Luis, California

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Great spot overlooking San Luis Harbor. We stayed 4 days in Woodyard #2. No hookups, but parked MH parallel to beach. There was water available to fill tanks. Enough room in spot to also park a rental car. Easy walk to pier which has a restaurant plus a lot of playful sea lions hanging out. Cells and OTA worked great. There are some FHU available, but not nearly as nice a view as we had. We camped at Port San Luis Harbor District in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Nice park a couple miles off the freeway. It backs up to a small airport where Gliders and Small Planes take off/land. Nice just to walk around the CG and catch the great views of Tehachapi Mountains and all of the Windmills. Cells, OTA and Dish all worked well. Very pleasant staff. Flying J and Loves located just a couple miles away. Dump station in park worked fine. Nice just to walk around and see the Mountains, Windmills and Small Aircraft. Lake Arrowhead State Park, Wichita Falls, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Older park, but nice spacing between sites. Park is a bunch of ~6 site wheels that work out pretty well. Sprint/ATT Cell was fine as was OTA Channels. Trees were also low enough that Dish worked great. Trails were wet from recent rains, but we were able to ride bikes around and see the prairie dogs, beach, piers, etc. Nice park for on overnight stay. We camped at Lake Arrowhead State Park in a Motorhome.

Mississippi River State Park, Marianna, Arkansas

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Newer State Park on Eastern Border of Arkansas. It is ~ 1.5 hours from Memphis. There are not many sites in the CG, but they are all beautiful - and FHU! We were in space 4, which was on a peninsula in a lake. Plenty of space between sites. Cell and Dish were fine. There is a nice hiking trail in the CG and another up at the Visitor Center (which was a 20 minute bike ride through forest and meadows). We were also able to ride our bikes for a couple hours on the "Great River Road" which passes through the CG. Visitor Center is well done and all staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. We camped at Mississippi River State Park in a Motorhome.

Monte Sano State Park, Huntsville, Alabama

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Campground in State Park located in the hills above Huntsville, AL. We stayed in space 75 - FHU and Level!! Cell service and OTA was OK, No dish due to trees. There was a washer and dryer in the restrooms that worked great. In the park there is a Japanese Tea Garden to walk through, as well as a nice North Plateau Trail that was a nice mix of forest and scenic vistas. Plenty of stores down the hill in Huntsville to restock at. We camped at Monte Sano State Park in a Motorhome.

Cades Cove Campground (NPS Campground), Townsend, Tennessee

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice CG in Smokey Mountain National Park. No hookups, No Cell, No OTA, No Dish. Water and Dump Station inside CG. We were in site B79 - which was level. Generous generator hours (8pm-8am). There is a town called Townsend with an IGA Supermarket (and Redbox) about 20 minutes away. There is also a nice CG Store with and ice cream counter. The Cades Coves 11 Mile Loop road starts right outside the CG and is a must do. It can take a couple hours to drive the road and stop at a lot of the sites. There is also a real nice hiking trail (Abrahm Falls) about 1/2 around the Loop. Plenty of Wild Turkeys and Deer in CG and on the Loop. Very friendly CG Staff! We camped at Cades Cove Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.
