Cain's Creekside RV Park, Hahira, Georgia

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Unlike some of the previous reviews, we love trains and the nearby track stays pretty busy. But we think that is a good thing. The park is relatively new and sites surround a catch & release pond that is home to ducks and geese. The sites are all pull thru with full hookups in a nicely spaced layout. Some are more level than others, but nothing out of the ordinary. The quoted rate is PA and requires cash. You are close to the town of Hahira and near enough to the larger city of Valdosta. This is a great place to stop on your travels on I-75. We camped at Cain's Creekside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Geronimo RV Resort, Destin, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

While not exactly what I think of as a "resort" in terms of amenities, this is an excellent place just to spend time and enjoy the many features of the gulf coast. The park is clean, neat and very well maintained with modern hookups. Each space is equipped with a large and level concrete pad that features a spacious patio area. You will have to bring your own picnic table if you plan on outdoor eating. Trees are liberally planted throughout the area but do not pose a problem for satellite users. Thought with the excellent WiFi and cable TV you probably won't want to breakout the sat dish. Most spaces are easy back-in style, but they do have a few pull-thru sites to offer. The hosts are very welcoming and accommodating. Our rate was based on the weekly discount, but they also offer Good Sam for daily visitors. If we find our plans bring us back to the area, this is certainly on our list of places to consider. We camped at Geronimo RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Payne's RV Park, Theodore, Alabama

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

A lovely oasis about 5 miles off I-10 near Bellingrath Gardens. No frills, just peace & quiet on a small pond teeming with wildfowl. A perfect stopping place at the end of a long day on the road. The Payne's are welcoming and genuinely happy to have you visit their park. We camped at Payne's RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Stadium RV Park & Mobile Home (AKA Sonora RV Park & MH & Cabin Rentals, Sonora, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

As mentioned in a previous review, the park owner met us on a nearby street and guided us to our site. He was driving a front-loader at the time. The site was mostly level, dirt and well equipped with power, water, sewer and a dumpster for trash. We spent a very restful night watching the local deer graze on the vegetation about 25 feet from our rig. The sky was dark enough to appreciate the stars above and there was a gentle breeze to provide natural cooling. We were in a transient RV parking area of an otherwise mobile home park. Because the owner detected that our rig was not quite level, he placed some boards under our road-side wheels to offset the slight tilt. This is a lovely place to stop and just detach from the "modern" world. We camped at Stadium RV Park & Mobile Home (AKA Sonora RV Park & MH & Cabin Rentals in a Fifth Wheel.

Mission RV Park, El Paso, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Located in a very industrial section of East El Paso, with shipping containers next door, this is a great place for overnight. A fair amount of noise from the nearby I-10 and the movement of the containers early in the morning. They have a nice pool, store and a RV parts and repair facility on site. Staff was very welcoming and helpful. PPA rate is CASH ONLY, but at $22 good for an overnight stay. The offer 20 channels of cable TV, but you might need a female-to-female type F connector to hook up. They are available in the office for $2 and they will refund your money if you return it on the way out. We camped at Mission RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Oak Creek RV Resort, El Cajon, California

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $72.00
Overall Rating:

A true treasure in the San Diego area. Wide and well layout spaces, both back-in and pull-thru with a combination of gravel and concrete. Ample laundry facilities, nice pool and attached hot tub. Price reflects the San Diego market and while more pricey than our norm, it represents a good value. They also honor Passport America on weekdays from April to October and will allow you to arrive on the weekend at the higher rate and let you change the rate on weekdays. Very nice. We camped at Oak Creek RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Thousand Trails - Palm Springs RV Resort, Palm Desert, California

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $72.00
Overall Rating:

This park was once a date orchard and spacing between sites is governed by where the trees are growing. Due to a drought situation, the sites are mostly dry (dusty) dirt and paved RV parking area. Staff is very helpful and friendly, but I thought this was an over-priced stop on our cross country trip. Sites are a mix of pull-thru and back-in and are not assigned, just offered on a first come, first served basis. We camped at Thousand Trails - Palm Springs RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Royal Palm Mobile Home Park and RV Resort (55+ park), Phoenix, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We chose this park based on location. It is clean, friendly and mostly occupied by mobile homes with about 20% of the park for RVs. Our experience included a relatively high noise level from traffic in the adjacent busy road and QT gas station next door. They do an extremely efficient job of maintaining the park and it shows the care they put in to it. Office staff and maintenance personnel were great and we found the permanent residents welcoming and friendly too. We would definitely stay here again. Sentinel Peak RV Park, Tucson, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Location, location, location are the key reasons to stay at this park. This is an RV oasis in the heart of Tucson. They have taken a large city lot and added all the things you look for in a place to stay with your RV, even a small pool. A combination of wide, but closely spaced pull thru and back in sites, nicely level and well equipped. There is a "club house" that offers a comfortable lounge, table tennis and a small library. The laundromat facilities are also in the club house so you can wait in comfort while doing your laundry. BE AWARE that this park offers Passport America discounts on Monday - Thursday from April to October but it is not obvious on their website. Once they have charged your stay they have no way to reverse those charges and offer the lower PA rate. All in all, a great place to stay, especially if the University or other urban locations are your local destination. We camped at Sentinel Peak RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

DiamondJacks Casino and Resort, Bossier City, Louisiana

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park adjacent to the DiamondJacks casino. Well laid out, spacious and full hookups. Wi-Fi and Cable TV almost non-existent. Lots to do in and around the Bossier City/Shreveport area. Lady in front office very welcoming and helpful with local info. Price makes this a good place to stop while in the area. Close by and active railroad track provides a reasonable level of noise. But, if you like railroad sounds, this is the place for you. We camped at DiamondJacks Casino and Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Abilene RV Park, Abilene, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

A real oasis along I-20. Clean, safe, we'll managed, family friendly. The couple in the front office are welcoming and very helpful with local info. Wi-Fi speed very slow but ok for overnight email downloading. Located very close to I-20 so reasonable level of almost constant road noise. Our site (A17) was very level with lots of room for our fifth wheel. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Abilene RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Very nice and convenient to Charleston for touring. The WiFi signal was strong, but v e r y s l o w. We had intermittent rain and that left the ground either submerged or muddy. Sites were level gravel with lots of grass around but a bit tightly spaced. I was concerned about my neighbor's fire ring's proximity to our trailer. We were part of a small rally and found this park to be an excellent choice for our group. It is under new ownership and lots of positive things are happening. Sites are level and well equipped. A new clubhouse is just about finished to add to the group facilities. There is a new laundry facility that is in addition to the one located in the office area. Staff is friendly and very helpful.
