Agricenter International RV Park, Memphis, Tennessee

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Let's just call it what it is - a trailer park. At least 1/3 of the campers here haven't moved in years. The fiver next to us had a tag which expired 4 years ago and was covered in mold. Sadly when the roads were paved they didn't add additional gravel to the sites so in many places a pond forms on the lower end of the site when it rains. When checking in I begged for another site because the entire left side was a mudhole which I had to walk through to hookup utilities. The layout of this trailer park is unlike any we have ever stayed in. There are two campers per spot parked in opposite directions. Generally nobody can put out awnings because it is so tight if another rig is next to you. There are only one or two sites with trees which might provide a little shade but in the summer 99% of this place is roasting. On a positive note satellite reception is wonderful! This could be a really nice campground if you cut out half the spots, added some gravel and planted some trees. We camped at Agricenter International RV Park in a Motorhome.

Austin Lone Star RV Resort, Austin, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

Spent 3 nights here and the location is decent if you want to get to downtown area. Asked for shade and was put in a spot which had some shade until noon then we roasted until the sun went down. This campground is pretty cramped. The interior roads are excellent but fairly narrow. You need to go all the way to the very rear of the property and come back through the middle to exit and the turns are tight. They could improve egress immensely with a rear exit which isn't onto the VERY busy frontage road which is also under construction with jersey barriers everywhere. Stay off I-35 and use the parallel streets. Road construction is a nightmare in this area. HEB and Walmart are nearby and can be accessed without getting on I-35. We camped at Austin Lone Star RV Resort in a Motorhome.

San Antonio / Alamo KOA, San Antonio, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

This was our first stay at a KOA and I must admit the facilities were top notch but so were the prices! The sites were all gravel and somewhat level. This is a HUGE campground! There are many very large Pecan trees scattered around the campground which gives decent shade if you get the right spot but can make using sat TV a bit tricky. It's very easy access from I-10 and also if you are coming from or going to Austin again it's very easy to navigate to/from the park. We camped at San Antonio / Alamo KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Location is excellent for seeing the sights in San Antonio and is literally right down the street from the Spurs arena. We didn't use the bus which has a stop right outside the gate because there are parking lots very near Riverwalk which are very little more than the bus tickets (paid $10 in one and $5 in another).

South Main RV Park, Houston, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

The location of this park is it's best attribute. Only a few minutes from NRG stadium or Toyota Center as well as downtown. The sites are all gravel but looked level as far as I could tell. Many long-term residents but for the most part they were all well kept. Transient visitors aren't given the best spots I don't think and was initially being placed into a spot with zero shade next to metal building in August. They were very nice and moved us to a spot with a least some shade which helped the AC keep up with the Texas heat. The campground is very cramped and the dog walk area is pretty small but they at least have one. Yes there is traffic noise but inside the RV we didn't hear a thing. Very busy street and when exiting you must turn right - stay to the right and then use the turn-around at the next intersection down which is easily negotiated even with a big rig. Be very careful when exiting I-610 westbound not to turn left at first intersection - trust me it's not fun going around in circles looking for the right street! We camped at South Main RV Park in a Motorhome.

Riverbend Campground, Hiawassee, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is without a doubt one of the cleanest and best run campgrounds we have ever camped in. The grounds are immaculate and many of the sites literally back right up to the Hiawassee River. Utilities connections are in excellent condition. Cable is included with many channels - we couldn't receive any local channels OTA here. There are no signs on either Highway for the campground though! Recommend using Kelley Road off Hwy 76 as Streak Hill Road off Hwy 75 is doable (38 ft MH pulling F150) but is pretty narrow. Only knock I would say is the sites are bit close together but it's a minor one as the positives far outweigh that one negative. We camped at Riverbend Campground in a Motorhome.

James Island County Park, Charleston, South Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2013 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed in #17 which backs right up to a pond and has a swing directly behind the site next to the pond. Downside was rooftop satellite would not peek through the trees even though it was facing the right direction. Had to run about 75' of cable out to the edge of the road with the Carryout to get TV. There are a few pull-throughs - maybe 10 or so. Great friendly staff and the campground is well taken care of. Would most definitely stay here again. Make reservations early if you want one of the pull-throughs! We camped at James Island County Park in a Motorhome.

Red Gate Campground & RV Resort, Savannah, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2013 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Campground is just as advertised - it was a farm. Sites 1-12 & 18-21 are pretty much out in the open with little shade. Sites 13-17 back up to a tree line and will be shaded in the afternoon; however, satellite reception could be a problem. Sites B1-B3 are more secluded with B1 under a giant live oak and is mostly shaded. They trimmed up some limbs to allow rooftop satellite reception which worked well with Winegard Trav'ler using Dish. B2 is a little more in the open. B3 looks out over a field and is very private. All three of these sites are next to the "toy shed" where you can park your bike if you want to keep it out of the weather. Couldn't get the Wi-Fi at B1. B1 has a little slope from back to front, but not too bad. Had to use 25' of sewer hose in order to reach the drop. This campground is as close to Savannah as you can get I think and we would stay here again. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.
