Jolly Roger Travel Park, Marathon, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $67.00
Overall Rating:

An aging park over run with iguanas, children and dogs. Having said that the staff do an incredible job maintaining everything, and keeping the common areas ( water front, pool, restrooms etc) spic and span. Narrow asphalt roads and gravel sites next to the sea wall with the other sites sand and weeds. Some sites are bigger than others but most are extremely narrow and small. Do not think I would return as the trailer trash look of the park promoted by most residents is a bit much. An average site would contain, an rv, 2 or 3 vehicles, a trailer with a boat or personal water craft, a couple of kayaks and paddle boards, a scooter or motorcycle, a few fold up tables ( in addition to the provided picnic table), a full size BBQ and perhaps a smoker, enough lawn chairs to host large gatherings till after midnight, a plug in bar fridge and maybe a freezer, 2 or 3 ice chests, 3 24 paks of bottled water and the same in soda and beer. There would be towels and drying garments all over the awnings and on the clothesline between the rv and a vehicle. Being from out of state, the running of the sewer hose into the park sewer was unusual to me. Where I come from the health dept. mandates a air tight connection with a screwed coupling or a rubber donut. Guess the park sewer open to the atmosphere is a Florida thing? On the site next to us an older couple had a 5er with 2 sewer outlets...one connected as described, one not. When they left they opened the not connected one and gushed sewage onto the site. It looked like grey but is was fowl smelling. A few park staff rolled by on golf carts but did not stop. OK I guess. By the time they left about a third of their site was under about an inch of sewage. The good thing is with a sandy site it was dry in about 15 minutes. We camped at Jolly Roger Travel Park in a Motorhome.

Very nice newer park. Sites are large back ins very wide, done with pavers. Roads are asphalt and wide. Lots of space between sites beautifully landscaped. Nice pool. No cable. $90/night seems high for what you get. We camped at Creekside RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Cheyenne KOA, Cheyenne, Wyoming

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

Easy on/off interstate. Very clean and well kept but also a lot of money for what you get. All gravel/dirt and very dusty. All services worked as expected. We asked for a pull thru so we could stay connected and were told the sites were 85'. I didn't take out my tape but our 40' motorhome was on the edge of the road front and back. No way to stay connected. I walked the park and most sites were 40' max. There were a couple maybe 80 but that's all. An OK park but kind of expensive. We camped at Cheyenne KOA in a Motorhome.

Hacienda RV Resort, Las Cruces, New Mexico

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

A very average park with excellent staff. Short sites, side by side hook ups, no pool, iffy wi-fi but spotless throughout. With small rock chips and dirt sites its a constant dust bowl when dry and a mud hole when wet. They have a hot tub but with all the dust its got quite a bit of dirt in the tub. When one leaves the staff drive a lawn tractor towing a rake to groom the site. Very nice but the raking puts rock chips and dirt on the paved roads making more of a dust bowl. The staff really deserve an "E" for effort but they are fighting a losing battle. We camped at Hacienda RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Rate based upon monthly stay in 50 amp pull thru. Nice well maintained park close to river. Good things: quiet, great location, paved roads. Negatives: wi-fi useless, construction on adjacent property, speeders within park. We camped at Bow RiversEdge Campground in a Motorhome.

Las Vegas RV Resort , Las Vegas, Nevada

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Great park we have stayed at before. Paved but tight sites with gravel yards. Wonderful staff well maintained facilities. Two concerns that keep me from rating it higher. Wi-Fi is Tengo and next to useless. The park is in a sketchy neighborhood and park advises you at check in that property theft is high. Keep all belongings (bikes, BBQs etc) inside your rv. We camped at Las Vegas RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Asheville's Bear Creek RV Park & Campground, Asheville, North Carolina

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflects Good Sam discount. Park is sandwiched between I-40 and a local road with significant road noise. They charge a premium price for a poor facility. Sites are very cramped. My rv steps ended right on the neighbors sewer connection. The site next to us puts the rear corner of the rv a foot from the side of our trailer. Forget opening your awning or opening your basement door. As previously noted the cable is strange where you use the parks remote to change channels on a device outside your rv. The cable did not work on my site. You only get 2 over the air channels (ABC & FOX). The Channel Cable repair guy came the third night of our stay and still could not get cable to work on our site. As previously posted, the restrooms, showers and laundry have seen better days. Nice folks who run this park are great but as far as I am concerned the park is very poor. We camped at Asheville's Bear Creek RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Riverside Campground & Resort, Sevierville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Easy access, everything worked including Wi-Fi. Only staying a few days and wanted to stay closer to the interstate instead of being in the middle if the action in Pigeon Forge. This park fit the bill perfectly. Rained during my stay but the gravel sites stayed dry. Would come again for sure. We camped at Riverside Campground & Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park, Nashville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Rate based upon multiple day stay at Passport America rate. It was raining everyday of our stay and many sites were under water. Ours was not but it was extremely muddy. Its not totally treed but most sites have two mature trees that canopy the site. It's likely nice and shady in the summer but this time of year the trees drop twigs and small dead branches on your RV and vehicles. Its very noisy and you will need to shovel off your slides before leaving. The majority of the residents are seasonal/permanent and there are a significant number of unsupervised minors at the park. Most of the minors are well behaved but pay no attention to the quiet hours and were very noisy till after midnight. Only one restroom was open and while the sinks and toilets looked clean the floor was like the inside of a barn: very muddy (likely due to the constant rain). The laundry room on the other hand was very dirty and I used my finger to write my name on a dryer door in the dust. The park is certainly not worth the high daily rate (PA was $36) but you are paying for the great location. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lazydays RV Campground, Seffner, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

Large park with residents turning over every few days. Large volume checking in each day and handled well by very efficient staff. The problem with this park is that the sites are short and tiny. There is hardly enough room for you RV and no room for your toad or tow vehicle. Everyone parks on the street making it impossible to back your RV in without getting others to move. The restroom and showers are very nice but there are too few for the size of the park. There are lineups constantly for both. The pool and hot tub looked very nice but were closed for the entire length of our 3 day stay. We camped at Lazydays RV Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Silver Lakes RV & Golf Resort, Naples, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2015 - $66.00
Overall Rating:

Rate based upon a monthly stay in an ownership park. Local realtor rents out sites owners are not using. Large concrete sites with manicured lawns and trees. Everything is pristine, many activities, friendly staff and residents. I would return anytime and while I have rated it highly there were a couple of things that annoyed me. The park does its best to promote the them vs us (owner vs renter) mentality. Owners get a remote to open the park gate as they drive up. Renters have to stop at the gate and enter a code. One of the two clubhouses has a Wi-Fi hot spot, fitness room, pool tables, restroom, showers and office. The office closes at 4 and everything gets locked up shortly after. Owners get keys so they can use the facilities anytime. Renters are locked out. I asked the office twice if I could leave a cash deposit for a gate remote and clubhouse key. Both times the response was "only for owners". The other item that I didn't like was that some residents took their dogs to the pool. I noted this at both clubhouse pools. I shouldn't be surprised as in Florida you see dogs in bars, restaurants, malls and grocery stores but it creeps me out when I go to the pool. We camped at Silver Lakes RV & Golf Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Williston Crossings RV Resort, Williston, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2014 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here 5 years ago when it was unfinished and it was a good park. Now its a great park that has done most everything well. Stayed in a pull thru in the old part both times. The only thing that changed was the underbrush has been cleared out. As an example of the things done right, our 125' pull through was 14' wide pavement. (25' wide at the patio) In a majority of parks its not as wide, meaning your rv fits on the pavement but you step out onto dirt or grass. The only item not perfect was the Wi-Fi which was the same as most rv parks...useless. We camped at Williston Crossings RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

New Green Acres RV Park , Walterboro, South Carolina

Date of Stay: November, 2014 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Easy access with long and wide sites. Everything works except the WiFi. Bring something to sweep off your slides as you are in a pine tree forest and there will be pine needles and cones all over your RV. We really liked this park but will never return. The highway noise is extreme and even with ear plugs we were unable to sleep. We camped at New Green Acres RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Mayberry Campground, Mount Airy, North Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Really a beautiful park with large washed gravel roads and sites. No trees near roads or sites so its great for access and satellite but likely warm in the summer. Sites are spread out and while not super spacious, there is plenty of room in the park with many open park like areas. Wi-Fi is typical for an RV park. It works occasionally. The office shower restroom is in a 20 year old double wide that has not changed since it was constructed. The one restroom is clean enough with peeling vinyl tiles but contains only 2 toilets enclosed in shower curtains. There is one dirty and disgusting shower with a moldy shower curtain that appears original to the double wide. Great park if you never use the shower or restroom. Not sure why the ball was dropped on the facilities when the rest of the park is so nice. We camped at Mayberry Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
