Pictured Rocks RV Park & Campground, Christmas, Michigan

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is a newer park that is just getting established. Owner is on site often and working. FHU, super long and spacious gravel/rock sites that are level. No cable or OTA but our satellite worked great. Free wi-fi, fire ring, picnic table. Firewood for sale. Right off highway but no road noise. Great location for visiting Pictured Rocks, area lighthouses and Lake Superior. We camped at Pictured Rocks RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

River Park Campground, Menominee, Michigan

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Smaller city campground that is not big rig friendly. Road and sites are very tight. Our pull thru site was just long enough for our 5th wheel and much of the ground around sites was "trenched" where people tried to pull into their site. Only 30 amp available. Wi-fi was good. OTA could pick up about 10 channels. Located on Green Bay. Railroad was close and also some road noise. Asphalt roads and sites, picnic table, patio, fire ring. Nice play area. park is well maintained but some sites definitely had flooding problems with rain we had one night. Only way to make reservations is to print off reservation form and mail in with your check for payment. Lots of duck poop, so watch where you step. Would be ok park for smaller units. We camped at River Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Country Roads Motorhome & RV Park, Lake Delton, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park that is laid out in circles, making navigating roads and sites very easy. Very big rig friendly. Gravel/dirt roads and sites. Nice space between sites. Fire ring, picnic table, wi-fi, small store, propane. OTA can pick up 6 channels. Great shade trees. Very quiet. No pool or playground, adults only. Great location for visiting Wisconsin Dells. We camped at Country Roads Motorhome & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Waterloo / Lost Island Waterpark KOA, Waterloo, Iowa

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Large park with a small lake with beach and boat rentals. Gas and convenience store, playgrounds, dog park. Gravel and paved roads with gravel sites. Site was just long enough for our 42' 5th wheel. Well maintained park but there was duck/geese poop everywhere. The water looked very nasty and I wouldn't want to swim in it. We camped at Waterloo / Lost Island Waterpark KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Red Oak Resort, Camdenton, Missouri

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is not a resort or RV park. It is a mobile home park for RVs. They have 5 sites for short stays. There are over 100 RVs packed in the park like sardines and all are permanent and have been here a long time. Grounds are dirty and not maintained. Very poor service. Would not ever stay here again. We camped at Red Oak Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Remote park that has a variety of sites. Our FHU site was very long and spacious. No cable, limited OTA, limited Verizon and ATT. Roads and sites asphalt. Picnic table, patio and fire ring. Can't access lake from campground but marina is located at park entrance. We camped at Ray Behrens COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Nice, quiet and clean park with pull thru and back in sites. Our pull thru site was gravel, level and plenty long for our 42' 5th wheel and truck. Sites are separated by a 20-25' grassy area and shade tree. Nice play area, pool and tent area. Plenty room to walk the dog. Free wi-fi and some OTA channels. Our satellite worked great. Small camp store and friendly service. Just a few miles into town and all the area attractions. Security gate closes at 8pm. We camped at Gunsmoke RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

La Junta KOA, La Junta, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

A " no frills" park but is great for an overnight stay. Our pull thru was very level and gravel. We stayed hooked-up but was really just a little short for our 42' fifth wheel. Good free wi-fi and OTA television. Dog park, pool and play area. Walking distance to Walmart. Right off hwy. 50. Friendliest office staff we've ever encountered. We'd stay here again if ever in the area. We camped at La Junta KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Peregrine Pines FamCamp (Military FamCamp), US Air Force Academy, Colorado

Overall Rating:

Wonderful campground nestled in a pine tree forest. Our gravel pull thru was extra long and level. Lots of space between sites. FHU and picnic table. No wi-fi or cable but we had no problem using our satellite. Weak ATT signal for my cell phone. Lots of room to walk the dog. Great price on propane and friendly staff. Great place to stay and visit all the area attractions. We camped at Peregrine Pines FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Small but adequate commissary and exchange on base. Great visitors center (be sure to watch the film). They will be tearing down the iconic chapel in January so I am glad we visited now. The reconstruction of the chapel will take 3-5 years.

Crow Creek FamCamp (Military FamCamp), F. E. Warren AFB, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We have a 42' 5th wheel and had no trouble coming thru Gate 1 ( which is the gate the campground office tells you to come in ). The directions given to the park were perfect plus the signage on base is excellent. The roads are gravel but no problem negotiating our rig to the campground. There are a variety of type and sizes of sites. Some back-in sites are small but we had a pull thru that was plenty long and there is a grass island between you and the site next door. The campground is nestled in a wildlife area so you see a lot of antelope and rabbits. There is an occasional train and a few helicopters, but overall very quiet. The park is clean and staff very friendly and helpful. Small but adequate commissary and exchange close by. Free wi-fi that actual works. Great place to stay and visit nearby attractions. We actually extended our stay several days because we liked it so much here. If you need fancy facilities, lots of amenities, concrete pads, etc., this isn't the park for you. We camped at Crow Creek FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Douglas KOA, Douglas, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Clean and quiet campground located in a rural area. Our gravel pull thru was long enough to stay hooked-up but our neighbor was very close on one side. Nice dog park and horse corral. Cabins and nice tent area. FHU, free wi-fi ( but I couldn't get connected), cable is extra but our satellite worked fine. Fulltimers/workers are in a seperate area. Was a good place for an overnight stay. We camped at Douglas KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Devils Tower / Black Hills KOA, Devils Tower, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $61.00
Overall Rating:

It's all about location, location, location. This park is at the entrance gate to Devils Tower. The tower welcome center is 3 miles up the park road. The campground is large with a variety of sites. Our grass back-in was pretty short for our 5th wheel but there was a place beside us for our truck. Also had to be careful of low tree branches. But we were right in front of the tower with only an open field between us. FHU but no wi-fi or cable and no OTA channels. Pool area and dog park. Nice store in campground office. Huge tent area, cabins and even wigwam tents. Was pricey but the view was worth every penny. We camped at Devils Tower / Black Hills KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Ellsworth AFB FamCamp (Military FamCamp), Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Had some problem with directions to the park but the office staff they were in process of correcting the issue. Park has two sections. Older part is in several wagon wheels with all back-in sites. Our site was not really long enough for our 42' 5th wheel and truck and there was a tree blocking part of the site in the back. The newer section is all pull thru. All sites have concrete pads, patio, table and grill. FHU, free wi-fi ( sporadic), no cable but satellite worked fine and got quite a few OTA channels. Small but adequate commissary and exchange. Base gas station did have diesel Bowling alley, golf, theater are all on base and a nice air museum ( free!) right outside the main gate. This was a good location for seeing all the area sites. We camped at Ellsworth AFB FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.
