Nelson's Family Campground, East Hampton, Connecticut

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

Interior roads are paved and dirt. Sites are large and trees/shrubbery between sites. Family campground with lots of amenities/activities. Many seasonal sites but well maintained. Staff was very helpful. For us it was a quick over night but I see the attraction of the campground and surrounding area. We were in Section G and the remote bathhouses were clean but small. We camped at Nelson's Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Old Cedar Campground, Monroeville, New Jersey

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Family campground. Staff seemed a bit tense, don't know why. Interior roads were sandy dirt as were the sites. Lots of mature trees so many sites are shaded all day or much of the day. Pool looked good but we didn't use it. Lots of kids did. Park was quiet as it's in a very rural area. Men's room was out of toilet paper one of the 2 mornings we were there. Lots of activities for families at the park. 1 water spigot for every 2 sites. Ended up being 3 of us on the one we used and water pressure was not an issue. Many seasonal sites but not run down. We camped at Old Cedar Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Lums Pond State Park, Bear, Delaware

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

State park with FHU. Very large loop that sites are spaced out around plus some other smaller areas. The large loop is all grass so it is quite attractive. Sites are pretty large but nothing between sites for added privacy. There are a lot of mature trees so it is a mixture of sunny/shady spots. Interior roads are paved as are the pads. Site is wide enough to park on the side. All utilities were good. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Cedar Creek Campground, Bayville, New Jersey

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

We enjoyed the campground feel of this park. Sites were large but nothing between sites to add privacy. All the utilities were fine and the site was almost level side to side. Front to back was off more but not enough to be an issue. Interior roads and sites are sandy dirt. Roads would be tight for big rigs. We camped at Cedar Creek Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC), College Park, Maryland

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed a week and decided this park is about as close to perfect as it gets in my humble opinion. Interior roads are paved and named so it's easy to navigate. Site was gravel and very close to level. Quite a bit of rain but no puddling. Lots of amenities at this park including multiple pools, propane service, nitely movie (kid oriented), large laundry with folding tables. Pet sitting service, dog walking service. Restrooms/showers were very clean. I especially liked the carpet drying fans running in the bathhouses. It really helps keep humidity down. Wish more parks used them. We attended the sightseeing session and got lots of useful info. We easily utilized Metro to go all the way to Mount Vernon for the day. Sure beats driving in the area. Wonderful staff and very good c-store with the essentials and some. Good selection of RV accessories if you needed something as well. You can also just charge your purchases to your site. Cafe was decent and moderately priced. Metro access was a plus for us and we didn't drive into DC or surrounding areas at all. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Travel Trailer.

Waynesboro North 340 Campground, Waynesboro, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Really a nice place. Nice campground feel, site spacing varies from pretty cozy to pretty large. The staff appears to spread campers out when possible to avoid too much coziness. Our site was in the back row and included a patio slab. Lots of shade provided by mature trees. Trees are well trimmed for clearance. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Park is quiet and still a short drive to Monticello, Ash Lawn Highland, home of James Monroe and Montpelier the home of James Madison. There is a pavilion and music is scheduled on Saturday nights. Would stay here again anytime in the area. We camped at Waynesboro North 340 Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Leesville Lake Campground , Gretna, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Think of this park as a work in progress. Very good work. It's on a dead end road to Leesville lake, a 17 mile long man-made lake. It's near the end of the road in a wooded setting on one side of the road, and across the road it's much more open. Owners are motivated to provide top notch service as well as enhance and expand the park. Quick overnight for us so didn't see the restrooms or showers. The pool looked good. The utilities were all good. Owners are just fabulous people. Would definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped at Leesville Lake Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Paradise Lake Family Campground, Spout Spring, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

This is a lovely family place to camp. It's a large campground as in acreage, lots of grassy areas, ball field, pavillions large and small. The turn off the hiway with the immediate railroad crossing is noteworthy but we had no bottoming out. Tracks were used but train is far enough away to not be intrusive. Nice big pond/lake with water slides. Staff is very accommodating and cheerful/friendly. It's obvious a lot of hard work goes into keeping this place in such good shape. The restrooms were clean but old and with some exposed pex plumbing. The mirror over the vanity doesn't work at all for anyone 6' 2". Maybe at 5' 8"? I doubt satellite TV reception would be very good here as the campground is full of oak trees for shade. We don't travel with a TV so I have no idea how the OTA would be. Wi Fi only works around the office. Our T-Mobile service was good enough for our internet needs. Would definitely stay here again if in this area. We camped at Paradise Lake Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

The Refuge on Roanoke Island, Wanchese, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $62.00
Overall Rating:

Dirt/gravel roads & sites. Sites are pretty level. 59 sites here, 1 for manager, 44 are annual leases and 14 available for nightly or longer rentals. As explained on the phone if the manager wasn't in the office upon arrival name & site # would be posted so we settled in. Manager stopped by later to say Hi and make sure we weren't parked on the grass. Sites are back-in and back up against a lake or pond. Site spacing is good but there is no shrubbery between sites. The location is good for seeing attractions in the area but off the beaten path a bit. Road nearby and you hear some traffic, not much at night though. I would have rated higher but the value is on the low side for me. Other parks in the area are both higher and lower. Some are right in the middle of congested areas though. We camped at The Refuge on Roanoke Island in a Travel Trailer.

Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground, Swannanoa, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

The facility is well cared for and highly maintained. Interior roads are paved and sites are gravel and pretty level. This campground has been carved into the side of a mountain so a lot of the lower sites where I stayed have been terraced into the hillside. While you are close to the next site there is good separation with the terracing and plantings. Out site had mountain laurel that was at least 8 feet tall.

All the staff I interacted with were very nice helpful folks. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Pine Mountain RV Park, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

Great park. Interior roads are paved, sites are concrete pad. Not real spacious sites but there is shrubbery between sites. Bathhouse is very nice. The distance from Pigeon Forge is not far but far enough to be quiet. Put your garbage out in the AM and it will be picked up around 9:30 or so. Levi Jackson State Park, London, Kentucky

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

We were in H loop which are W/E pull-thru sites. Dump station was nearby, convenient and clean. Pretty spacious sites but no shrubbery or anything between sites. We had to use a second water hose and a 25 ft 30 amp extension cord to connect to the water/electric. It's a very large family oriented park. Our T-Mobile service was useless here as was the Wi Fi. Great park setting though. We camped at Levi Jackson State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This park is owned by a family foundation and the facilities are for the benefit and free to the community. They have some RV sites that are available for rent. It's a great setting and facility. Most everything is pretty new. Interior roads are dirt and sites are gravel. No alcohol and the gate is locked at 8:30 PM until 8:00 AM. No Wi Fi and limited cell service. I loved the quiet! Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Lots of good things here. Pool, putt putt golf, playground, lots of grassy space. Most sites are pull-thru. Mature shade trees and lots of them, well trimmed for navigating through. Playground, basketball court, volleyball, horse shoes. All utilities were good. Staff is great. Guided to site and helped with positioning/parking. Site spacing is better than average but no shrubbery between sites, only grass. Propane available and convenience store is good too. Corn field to the east but I-55 to the west 1/4 to 1/2 mile so you do get some noise, not bad at night though. Didn't hear any trains. Great proximity to Springfield for history buffs. Pin Oak Creek RV Park, Villa Ridge, Missouri

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Interior roads and sites are gravel. Sites are pretty level. This park has the pull-thru option for big rigs or back to back for 2 smaller rigs. Sites are cozy with your neighbor and not much separation at all. So cozy that my front yard neighbor sat down at my picnic table to study the owner's manual for wet bay hookup. Staff is great and the convenience store is as well. Laundry room room had what looked to be all new washers/dryers. Game room/rec room was good. The pool appeared to be well taken care of though I didn't use it lots of people did. The biggest negative about this park is the men's bath house. Needs a good cleaning and some of the metal dividers have rusted through in places. We camped at Pin Oak Creek RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
