Ballard RV Park & Vacation Rentals, Thompson, Utah

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of the nicest parks I've seen located in such small area, I'm not even sure it's a town. The sites are gravel and wide enough, and very long so that you could fit a large Class A with a long utility trailer. Utilities were fine, but water pressure was high, there are signs stating to use a regulator. People in the office were great, we mostly talked with Dave, who was very accommodating and knowledgeable about the area, he couldn't have been nicer. The rest rooms and showers were wonderful and very clean. There are laundry machines available, gratis!, and they all look new! They also have little cottages for rent here. I'm not sure what else could be done to make it nicer. Maybe shade trees - but this is the desert! We camped at Ballard RV Park & Vacation Rentals in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Moab is about 30 miles away. Arches National Park and Canyonland National Park is just north of Moab and a "must see" if you're in the neighborhood. There are canyons nearby for 4wheelers, although a car or truck would be fine in most places. Antelope have been seen wandering around the area. This is a beautiful area to explore!

Strawberry Bay Campground, Heber City, Utah

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

I liked this National Forest campground so much I stayed here 2 different times, in 2 different loops. There are about 7 loops here, only one of which has hookups. There is a dump station, but not at the sites, unless you were at the loop that had full hookups. There are many sites with water view and I was lucky to be camped with a good water view both times. A Marina and store/restaurant is available, which was nice since Heber City is about 25 miles away. As you pull in, you can fill up with fresh water at the dump station. We camped at Strawberry Bay Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This was a great Forest Service campground. From my site, I had a great view of the lake. My pull-thru site (D7) was long and spacious. We camped at Soldier Creek Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Fossil Falls Campground BLM, Inyokern, California

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $3.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small park, areas for small RVs, tents and vans separate from larger RVs. Hiking to the falls is definitely required, the volcanic rocks are sculptured into rounded, convoluted boulders. Very quiet, even though only a mile or so off Route 395. We camped at Fossil Falls Campground BLM in a Fifth Wheel.

Joy Land RV Park, Tonopah, Nevada

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $7.00
Overall Rating:

Guess I should have read the reviews first!! I pulled into what looked like a gravel open lot. There were a few pull-thru - I took one of them and tried my surge protector at the power post. And then I tried all the other power posts - no electric at all. No one was there - except probably people in the ancient, raggedy RVs. I called the number on the sign and the guy showed up after I had everything leveled and unhooked. He said there was no power because it was turned off because he was evicting people - pointing to the corner where 2 RVs shared a wire cage around their rigs. I wanted to spend time here and I had already set up - after a long trip. I made a deal with the guy for a really discounted rate - figuring I was only using water, sewer and space. Fortunately, I have solar and it was easier to stay than move. Every day when I came home, I was happy to see my 5th wheel still there, as well as my solar panels. Dogs were barking all the time, one night until almost 10 PM. We camped at Joy Land RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

El Solana RV & Mobile Home Park, Inyokern, California

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

I stayed at this park in April, 2018. This is a run down dirt park with many old, broken down RVs that will probably never run again. No one was in the "office" when I arrived, but there was a sign on the door stating that "Passport America member - $25.00, and non members - $30.00". I picked out a site that wasn't too narrow for my rig (I have a slide) and parked - not level at all. Later, I talked to the man who apparently owns the park and told him that Passport America was supposed to be half price, not just $5 off. He got arrogant and obnoxious and told me I didn't have to stay there if I didn't want to. Of course, it's the only game in town. I would not stay there again. They also boast on the Passport America information that they have gas (there's a station about a mile away in "town") and they boasted about having golf - most likely in a neighboring town. We camped at El Solana RV & Mobile Home Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Kaibab Paiute Band Tribal Campground, Kaibab, Arizona

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for a couple days. Could not find a level site. When I tried to hook up my hose to the water faucet, the faucet itself leaked so bad I couldn't use it. One of the groundkeepers told me I could move or stretch my hose to another site. They have multiple sites and I was only the second camper here. The other was a volunteer for the National Monument. There is a nice, newish looking building that houses restrooms, showers and laundry as well as a community room - but I was told it was not open yet. The park itself is a large unshaded area. At least it wasn't $30 or more, which is typical of this area. We camped at Kaibab Paiute Band Tribal Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

ICamp Green River, Green River, Utah

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

I used this as a stop-over headed to Capitol Reef National Park. I was glad to see that they now take Passport America! Regular rate is $20, so PA makes it a bargain. They have laundry at reasonable prices, the rest rooms/showers are clean. There is even a little store inside where you can purchase some things you might need. Site are mostly pull-thru, which was great. My site was level and I actually had working wifi! This is such a great change from the $30+ site I had in Monticello, Utah!! I would definitely stop here again. We camped at ICamp Green River in a Fifth Wheel.

Route 66 General Store and RV Park, Seligman, Arizona

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here a couple nights to explore the town and Route 66. The park is in back of the general store and the bathrooms are shared by customers. The showers were locked and you had to get a key to use them. They could use updating but were functional and clean. The sites are gravel with raised areas for the hookups. Some sites had shade trees. Railroad tracks were nearby, but didn't bother me. We camped at Route 66 General Store and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Canyon Trail RV Park, Boulder City, Nevada

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This park is one of the very few in town, which explains the high rate - $40 without Good Sam. The only reason I stayed here was to wait for an RV fixit guy to come fix something. Sites are close together, gravel, small trees that really don't provide shade. I was only 3 units from the wifi repeater - it didn't work. They're "planning" on a new system, but without a higher antenna, it won't work well. I had to sit in the clubhouse to do any internet. Pathetic for the cost! We camped at Canyon Trail RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Oasis Palms RV Park, Thermal, California

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park, pond with a fountain in the middle. Pull thru sites or back in. Some sites are water/electric only. Mine had sewer. Orange trees all over the park and we were told to pick as many as we wanted - great juice. The wifi actually worked!! And I wasn't that close to the office. Nice size pool and hot tub. Karaoke once a week with a pot luck before - fun stuff. Pool table, book and DVD swap. Huge TV in clubhouse with cable. Managers were helpful and friendly. Laundry machines nice and reasonable. Stayed a week, above is the weekly rate. We camped at Oasis Palms RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Casa Grande RV Resort , Casa Grande, Arizona

Date of Stay: December, 2014 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

I stayed for almost a week. I was at a pull-thru site and these are very close together. The back-ins are larger. The sites are all gravel with a concrete pad. Most of the sites have larger rocks than gravel and have large ruts in them since there is way more rock than needed, it makes it a bit hard to pull thru, level and get solid ground to put down your jacks. No picnic table, no other amenities other than hookups. Very few trees in the park, mostly bushes. This is a destination park for lots of northern people who stay the season. We camped at Casa Grande RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Holt's Shell RV Park, Gila Bend, Arizona

Date of Stay: December, 2014 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

I was a bit skeptical - RV park in back of a truck stop. However, the front area is large enough for trucks to park overnight, but very few did. Once you were inside the park, it was fine, not even enough noise from the road. Not much to do around the area, but fine for a one or two day stop. And the wifi worked actually better than some parks I've been in. We camped at Holt's Shell RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
