Secluded Acres, Hochatown, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

There is no sign stating "Secluded Acres RV Park", just a sign stating "RV Park". Its adjacent to, and on the south side of the Hochatown BBQ restaurant. There is no office and one must check in at the restaurant. There are two entry driveways about 100 feet apart. The north drive enters the parking lot of the restaurant and continues into the campground. The south driveway is the one to use if you have one of the first 4, pull-through sites. This will put your hookups on the correct side. If you have a larger rig and enter the north driveway you will have to drive around the loop and come back, but the turn at the far end of the campground is a bit tight. The 4 pull-through sites are quite close together and do have fire pits and decent picnic tables. Water pressure and quality are good. It's a small park and looks like it would be quite tight when mostly full. I have to state now that we were here in early April and the weather was quite cool, so most of the time the windows were closed and the furnace cycling on and off. Other than the 6-7 campers toward the rear of the park, who look to be living here full time and a bit of an eyesore, we were alone during most of our 7 night stay. We chose this location because it was close to family who we were visiting. We didn't use the shower or bathroom house but I did give it a look. It was older but clean. But during the season, with a fuller campground, I doubt it would be adequate. It's a small building split into 2 rooms. One has only 1 shower and no toilet and the other a shower and toilet. So that's 1 toilet and 2 showers for the entire campground. We prefer to always use the facilities in our 5th wheel. This is a bare-bones place with no amenities, no laundry, camp store, pool or such. And don't expect much a check-in. No campground map (not that one is needed at the small place) and they couldn't supply me with a receipt as we made reservations via the internet. However grocery and gas aren't far. We camped at Secluded Acres in a Fifth Wheel.

Alligator Park Mobile Home and RV Park (55+ park), Punta Gorda, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed 10 weeks at Alligator Park (snowbirds). The nightly rate is $43.00 for transients but lower for longer stays. This is a nice, clean, well kept place. The full time residence are very friendly and there is a full social calendar. The location of the park is perfect., near to Port Charlotte, Ft. Myers and Cape Coral. All kinds of shopping close by as is the gulf. We will be staying here again next year. We camped at Alligator Park Mobile Home and RV Park (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Too many water front restaurants within 30 minutes to list. Gym 5 minutes away, Walmart less than 2 miles. Park has propane delivery on Thursdays

Norris Dam State Park, Rocky Top, Tennessee

Date of Stay: March, 2014 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

I stayed at the West campground which is atop Andrews Ridge. Rather steep, winding road up, but there were some mid-size travel trailers and smaller 5th wheels that made it. The bathrooms and showers were dated but clean. Water pressure isn't the best so I used my internal pump. Most of the larger sites are sloped somewhat. The sites on the outside of the ring are smaller but more level. These sites have a pretty steep drop at their rear. Being on top of the ridge provided solid 4G service on my Verizon smart phone and over the air TV wasn't bad either. The East camping loop has sites that are more level but there are high tension power lines running directly overhead. We camped at Norris Dam State Park in a Truck Camper.

Stone Mountain State Park, Roaring Gap, North Carolina

Date of Stay: March, 2014 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Nice place to stay in the foothills of the Appalachians. The terrain make cell phone / Internet spotty / slow. My Verizon hot spot worked but others with different providers had no service. Antenna TV reception is nonexistent. Very nice hiking trails to Stone Mountain Falls and summit. Also an historic home-site from the 1800s. Pads are paved and level. Park was quiet during the 5 weekdays I was there but understand it can get crowded on the weekends and during the summer months. We camped at Stone Mountain State Park in a Truck Camper.

RVacation RV Park, Selma, North Carolina

Date of Stay: March, 2014 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Rate stated is for a weekly stay. The campground is right on I-95 and has railroad tracks nearby, but I found the noise level to be a minimal problem for me as the weather was cool and the windows were closed most of the time. Very quiet place otherwise, friendly owners, Wi-Fi worked great. Nice laundry and showers. We camped at RVacation RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Walkabout Camp & RV Park, Woodbine, Georgia

Date of Stay: February, 2014 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Nice place, well kept, pool, laundry, Sunday night pot lucks, propane service. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Easy access to freeway. I received a discounted rate as I was gone out of town for a week and left my rig there. Owner let me keep the power plugged in while I was gone. Will be returning in November of this year. We camped at Walkabout Camp & RV Park in a Truck Camper.
