Teton Valley Resort, Victor, Idaho

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

The new owners of this property have put a lot of effort and money into upgrading everything. RV sites 1 - 44 are all new, the interior roads are all paved with curbing. The sites are compacted gravel and mostly all very level. Yes, there are a mingling of cabins, yurts and even three teepees besides the RV sites, but most of them have been updated or are new. The new bathroom building is a mindblower - tile, solid surface and granite abound. The staff was very friendly and pointed out local eating places. I would stay here again if in the vicinity and highly recommend it. Note Google Satellite view doesn't show the new section as it is now. The pool and hot tub were delayed and not yet open during our stay. The spa is up and running although some of the services might not yet be operating. We camped at Teton Valley Resort in a Motorhome.

They now offer several different tours and we opted for the one day Jackson Hole Grand Teton Experience to get the lay of the land. Had a great tour leader that adjusted the itinerary to what we wanted to do.

Valley View RV Park, Island Park, Idaho

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

RV Office and huge laundromat in one room with adjacent large Rec Room. Quite a nice social gathering space. Very friendly, helpful staff. Pass Port America discount is NOT available June 15 through July 31. Located on US 20; traffic was not a deterrent to sleeping at night. All sites are pull-thru. Awoke to 3" snow, temp 31 on 6/9/19, only 1" and 32 on 6/10. Got to make & throw snowballs! Sites H 1-12 are sloping back to front; may require leveling blocks. RV Park is 14 miles from West Entrance to Yellowstone Natl Park. This short 20 min drive wasn't an inconvenience. We camped at Valley View RV Park in a Motorhome.

Willow Beach COE, Scott, Arkansas

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Not too far off of I-440 in a quiet spot along the Arkansas River. The park is undergoing an upgrade, adding 17 more sites. The original bathroom and shower building in Area F is now closed for eventual renovation. There is a new bathroom and shower building at the far end of the park over a mile away. There are also toilets only in the parking lot next to the boat ramp. Very quiet park with an occasional aircraft from the nearby Little Rock Airport. The park station is staffed except on Wednesdays. On that day, you just go into the park, pick an open site and fill out a reservation envelope and include payment. The park closes and the entry gate is locked at 10 PM, however they give you the code for the gate padlock to enter or exit. Just a couple areas with some low hanging tree branches that you can navigate around. Basically another great COE campground. We camped at Willow Beach COE in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The President Clinton Library is close by in North Little Rock. There is an fun and expansive Farmer's Market on Saturdays in North Little Rock. Take in an Arkansas Travelers Double A baseball game at Dickey-Stevens Stadium right on the River Walk. Plenty to see and do in the area with some great restaurants.

Narrows Too Camping Resort - Thousand Trails, Trenton, Maine

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflects PA for two or the four night stay. Very nice park right off the main highway into Bar Harbor and Acadia, National Park. Very helpful staff and very responsive to fix a leaking water valve. The sites were level and spacious with plenty of room for our tow vehicle. Access roads are wide and easy to navigate. There are several Lobster Pounds right outside the entrance to the campground that can satisfy your seafood craving. Great place to stay to take in the activities in Bar Harbor or Acadia, NP. We camped at Narrows Too Camping Resort - Thousand Trails in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor are close by. Lots of scenic drives, hikes and views. Atlantic Beer Company is close and well worth the stop for some craft brews. Campground is also close to Ellsworth where there is a Home Depot, grocery store and Lobster Pounds right outside the campground. You can order a lobster dinner to go and take it back to the campground and chow down.

Cedar Haven Campground, Freeport, Maine

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

You can tell the owners are putting a lot of effort in upgrading the campground. They were out everyday on the sites cleaning, repairing and maintaining. I appreciate how the trees were kept trimmed on the roadways and at the site. The site was level and the utilities were grouped and placed nicely for easy access. The site had a tree on each side, so it was a little tricky doing a passenger side, back-up into the site, but one of their workers stopped by to help with the parking. The sites are all mostly wooded, so not many would allow for satellite reception. Over-the-air TV reception was very good with multiple channels. Very close to Freeport and Brunswick. Would stay again if in the area. We camped at Cedar Haven Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Freeport is a nice town for shopping or just strolling the streets and people watch. Highlight is the L.L. Bean stores which are open 24/7/365! Take in the Bath Iron Works and the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath if you have the time. You get to see and hear the story of old wooden ship building as well as how the build the newest US Navy destroyers at BIW.

Wilderness Lake Campground & Resort, Willington, Connecticut

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

The rate reflects PA + $5 for a pull through site. Access is very good with it being only a short distance from I-84. We were running a little late, but when we called approaching the campground, someone came out and directed us to the site. Very much appreciated. The site was reasonably level and had a newly installed electrical box with 50 amp service. The water outlet was another story however. The faucet was on the passenger side of the site, with a garden hose attached and run under the site in a PVC pipe sleeve to the drivers side. It was serviceable, but using a garden hose for potable water is not a good practice. There are no sites with sewer connections making the $60 normal rate, way out of line. Okay for an overnight at the PA rate. We camped at Wilderness Lake Campground & Resort in a Motorhome.

Greenville Farm Family Campground, Haymarket, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This is a campground that is literally at the back of a working farm. The owners put it in over 50 years ago and have expanded and upgraded it several times. They are now offering a 15% discount to active and retired military as well as veterans. The access roads through the farm are quite narrow. Two RVs head on would be trouble. The main road once reaching the swimming pool and office needs a good tree trimming, but I was able to pull to the side and avoid the overhangs. They only have 21 sites up near the pool that have sewer. There are some very nice pull through sites in the electric and water section that have full shade and lots of spacing and vegetation between sites. The campground is remote, but not far from the Manassas National Battlefield Park. We camped at Greenville Farm Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Artillery Ridge Campground, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflects GS discount for two nights and PA rate for two nights. The campground is quite spread out and bends around a couple horse stables and corrals. We were located on the southernmost area with pull-throughs. No noise from the horses or smells. The bathrooms are dated, but very clean and serviceable. The WiFi is one of the strongest I have had at any campground. The sites are somewhat crowned and narrow, so my auto leveling system took a bit to figure it out. Very conveniently located to the National Battlefield Park and downtown Gettysburg. Good value for the price with discounts. We camped at Artillery Ridge Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Gettysburg National Battlefield Park and Eisenhower Home and Farm are very close. The audio car tour book we purchased at the Visitor Center was well worth the $30. Would also recommend taking in as many of the Ranger led tours as possible. Great presentations. The Utz potato chip factory tour is in nearby Hanover. They have an outlet store nearby. Snyder of Hanover also has a factory outlet store in Hanover.

Sands of Time Campground, Avon, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

The PA rate requires an extra charge for electricity billed at 15 cents per KWH (for our 50 amp, all electric coach, we used just under 1 KWH per hour or $12.75 for our 4 night stay.) The entrance is fairly narrow and there are some tree branches hanging over several of the roadways. The site was spacious with utilities toward the rear. The sewer connection is strange, tilled up with a 45 degree bend from a mostly horizontal pipe. The bathrooms and showers are dated, but in good shape and clean. Would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Sands of Time Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Avon is quite a ways down from Kill Devil Hill and the activity in that area, but it is very close to Cape Hatteras, the Ocracoke Island Ferry (free!) and plenty of beaches in between. Food Lion, ACE Hardware and several restaurants in Avon, as well as some very good seafood markets. Lots of construction on Route 12 on the way down as they are building new bridges and roadways along the way.

St. John's RV Park, St Augustine, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Older park with half of the sites as full timers. The transient pull through sites are plenty long but have concrete pads in very bad shape with cracks and heaved sections. The utilities are well laid out and accessible from most positions on the pad. The WiFi was excellent. Not a "destination" park, but very good for a stop-over or if all you want is a place to park with all the hook-ups. All in all, the park is a good value. We camped at St. John's RV Park in a Motorhome.

Blackhawk Park COE, De Soto, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Very well maintained COE Campground. Access to the park is very good as is the interior roads. The north side of the park is more shaded, but has mostly 30 amp sites. The south side is wide open so no problem with satellite reception. The sites on the south side have mostly 50 amp service and about half the sites are reservable. The shower facility is on the south side and there were three drinking water faucets to fill your tank. There are two boat launch ramps, a swimming area and lots of fishing from the bank or on the piers. The north side of the campground was closed due to potential flooding so it is a good idea to call about river conditions. Would definitely stay here again. River View Campground, Owatonna, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

As mentioned, there are about 60-70 percent of the sites occupied by seasonal full timers with others open to daily traffic. All of the sites were shaded to some extent, so no satellite service. The access roads are gravel with the exception of the paved road that goes up to the pool area. Very nice, huge pool with plenty of chairs and a couple umbrellas for shade. The sites on B and C rows could use some more gravel to take up some of the "squish" after it gets wet. Escorted to the site and good access as we were able to leave the towed vehicle hooked up for the overnight stay. The oppressive heat did take it's toll on the electrical system with voltages dropping to around 105V on some lines. The office recommended coming in from the west on the entrance road and going out the same way. Ask for directions if it's not clear. We camped at River View Campground in a Motorhome.
